Thank you for this video! I've been telling my daughter to not to do the over an down when steering her horse.. This video made my point to her loud an clear. Maybe now she'll start steering her horse correctly. Been nagging at her about the steering she needed to see this!! mom does know what she's talking about. Helps coming from someone else.

I ride 2 handed mostly. Seems where my horse is most happy. Doesn't take much for me to have her turn. - Is there a difference for a gaited horse? - Seems like though what you are saying would help when she gets over stimulated when we are out with other horses. I see how you are encouraging the head down/relaxed position. As always, your instructions to us are very clear.

Usually when someone primarily rides 2 handed they are not using their body very well. Try 1 handed or no handed and see what your horses does. If your horse does not steer then you are riding with your hands and not your body.
