Good for you Jenny...and yes everything in crochet can be a challenge at first but if you feel comfortable with the basic steps then really you should be able to pick up the rest pretty easily!
I love this video. I can watch Crochet Guru at my own pace; and replay. I am left handed and it is hard to find someone to teach me left handed. thanks Gerry foley.
The part about changing color that's hardest for me is trying to weave in the 2 pieces of yarn. I guess it will get easier w/ practice. I thought making chains was hard when I first started. Now I can do them in my sleep! I'll keep working on it! I started crocheting for the first time only about 2 weeks ago. I never knew it would be so fun! I have a lot to learn!
Thank you so much. My best friend taught me to crochet - she's right handed and she had lots of patience and wine - haha. However, I put my crochet up during the summer and, now need help to get started again. My friend lives in another state and trying to explain via phone wasn't working for me. You are a very good instructor. Looking forward to learning more from you.
That is great that your best friend taught you how to crochet Judy! My friend taught me as well! I am glad that my videos are helping you and thanks for the comment!!
Hi herillusion, Don't worry if you are still confused, it takes time to understand the process - especially when you are first starting out. It is hard for me to know exactly what you are doing wrong, but I am guessing that your yarn tension may be too loose. The reason my rows are so defined is because I work to keep my yarn tension the same in every stitch that I make. You may need to adjust each stitch as you work.
thanks for the videos. I have wanted so long to leatn how to crochet and always haf a hard time because I am a lefty. Now I have made my first project and I am hooked . thanks again!
I seriously cannot believe how much your videos helped me! My RH coworker taught me to start crocheting last week. I was frustrated but finished my first cowl today in single crochet! I found your magic circle tute on Pinterest and made button covers with it. Wow I feel like a pro! I just watched the rest of your LH tutorials and they are great. I feel so confident I can do this. You are the best! I have not viewed all your catalog, do you have any videos on how to read patterns and select yarn? I just read up on worsted yarn today, still a bit confused. I also don't know as I go how to figure out weights and how to calculate how much yarn (skeins?) to get when I make a blanket or large project. Help? I can't quite get how to figure out what I'd need. thanks :) Shannon
***** Thanks Bobbie! I will look forward to seeing it one day. I really appreciate your videos. I just watched your flower tutorial and successfully made one. I am so happy. I bought some 100% cotton yarn today that recommends an I-9 hook (my favorite). It feels very tight so I'm not sure I could do a flower with this since it's not worsted or acrylic or wool. I am going to try though because the colors are beautiful.
If you mean the last 2 stitches you have left on the row...then no, but if you mean just the last two loops on the last stitch... then yes. Let me know if that makes any sense!
herillusion, Yesterday my reply wouldn't post for some reason, so I am going to try again today. With moving on to the next row try turning your work first and then chain 1. You will have two loops that look like the letter "V"...Insert your hook into both of those loops and then make your next single crochet. Please let me know if you are still having trouble. Also message me through my channel I have some different websites that may help you, I guess I am not allowed to put URL's in here.
So no matter which stitch I use when changing color I always leave just the last two loops on the hook? Does this mean the last two stitches that you work?
Hey when you put the old colour at the back of your work and single crochet on the new colour, do you pull that extra 4" of yarn on the old/new colours through along with the yarn that's attached to the ball?
