I just finished Charisma! I was amazed by the detail of the Missouri period and the connection Dan made between Joseph potentially using the Book of Abraham "translation" to bolster up his evolving views of the priesthood. I have read "Rough Stone Rolling" and "No Man Knows My History" and this was by far the most intensely researched. I also felt like I was more "inside a mind" than the other two. It left me kind of depressed and wondrous.....in a good way. Thank you!!!
Dan is a genius. I am very impressed with his research. It may sound weird, but studying Joseph Smith and his cult are the reason why I became a better Christian.
Without charisma of Joseph and also Brigham, the whole church would have evaporated into thin air. Also consider the charisma of early missionaries such as Heber C. Kimball.
@@SploinkyDH. Dan is an atheist who needs to prove there is no God. so let us examine just a few of his alleged facts. The Book of Mormon. Dan claims " the witnesses only saw the plates in their minds eye" IE they were delusional. However some of the witnesses said they held the plates in their laps nd turned the pages. Why does Dan ignore these reports and deceives his followers? Dan says the Book of Mormon was only translated by a seer stone. Humm Dan ignores the witnesses who report a Urim and Thummim was first used. Dan claims Joseph Smith slept with other men's wives. Yet DNA evidence proves beyond a doubt that the claim of Vogel, Fawn Brody and other anti Mormons are false. Where is Dan's retraction.? Dan relies on other anti Mormons who rely on rumours.. lies , speculations etc. and presents them as facts. If he did this in Europe he could be arrested for hate crimes if he was talking about Jews.
