I hate that those polo's with a dress-shirt collar have such a long plaque of buttons that reach beyond your chest. Why can't these companies make it shorter, with 2 buttons, just like every other polo? That would have been so much better and make you look more masculine. A polo as we all know it, but with a more sturdy collar. Hope the companies see this comment and use it.
I used to feel like my style was on point and gave up RMRS videos. But after realizing my styles fallen off walking into my 40s, I need reminded of what does and doesn’t work these days, thanks for staying the course, Antonio!
I work as field assistant, visiting farmers & farm supply shops everyday, polo shirt is the perfect fit for my work wear, casual enough to meet farmers yet still formal enough to meet shop owners. I got black & navy jeans, and black, red, green, yellow, & orange polos. Black jeans works well with black & red polos, while navy one works well with green, yellow, & orange polos. My go to shoes are black & brown work boots.
Polos have become my new "t-shirt". I used to wear t-shirts casually all the time and polos were work shorts. Now, they are my casual shirts. I usually wear them with jeans or shorts. Great video!
@@travisn346 I'm currently liking the Levi's 502. Slim fit tapered leg (not skinny by any means) with a little give in the material. Multiple shades of blue (favorite is the original dark blue denim) and black and khaki options
I am 63 and shrunk from 5' 7" to 5'5", still have athletic build and 29" waist so I decided to transition to small polos. OMG!!!! They make me look jacked. And the length looks great with jeans. Happy camper.
Might like to see a video dedicated to Henley shirts. My intuition is that Henley shirts are a bit more casual and far more physique-dependent (shoulders/traps, specifically) than any shirt with a collar.
Hey Marine, I've been wearing polos with jeans for 40 years. I tuck them in and only buy jeans that are solid blue. I also wear polos with chinos. I like the 100% cotton pique material. I have ones from the Hale Koa, Marine base Kaneohe, and Pcola. Also, in reference to your cologne video, I have been buying Polo in the green bottle forever, but buy from the exchange so don't pay the price others pay. Take care Captain.
I'm really into golf shirts with chinos, dress socks, and casual Oxfords or dressier loafers..it works at my workplace and my look seems somewhere in between casual to the lower end of business casual. I just stick to black, gray, and blue combinations...your videos really helped me as I transitioned from military life to civilian business life...
I’ve been binge watching your vids for the last few days and been inspired to step it up. I’m tall and muscular, so it’s easier for me to rationalize buying clothes that generally don’t fit right; however since fit is king I’ve been more proactive and searching out clothing built for me, and going for a wardrobe overhaul starting next year. I appreciate what you’ve done over the last decade. Keep up the good work, Antonio. Adrian 👊
Really enjoy the in-depth nature of your examination of the topic. This history, materials, etc all contribute to an elevated understanding. Very on brand. :) Lastly, I want to say how cool it is that you content creators in the men’s fashion space are friends. It’s so important that men recognize we can co-exist in our mutual endeavors and support one another rather than slyly tear em down. Really admire that about you guys. Again, being classy is very on brand, which is why I follow and share.
I actually got my first polo from Collars and Co. Very impressed. Great material, amazing collar, beautiful color, quality! It will wrinkle a little and may need an iron. Well worth it
Today I pulled up a nice Black Hollister Polo with their famous bird in white and a gray chino and a black workman's boots with steel toes protection to take a disabled friend to a dentist and got a nice smile by two lovely ladies... as an accessory I had a gold earring, leather bracelet with golden bits and a black leather necklace with a discreet black and golden gladiator pendant😁 Lovely, I am a minimalist on my day to day life and also, sometime I pull up accessories and some traditional clothing despite my good looking 😁 thanks for your lovely channel mate👌🏻☕
I think the best fitting polo for me is the Cabelas performance polo shirts. They fit my torso and arms perfectly. I get complimented frequently on the look.
Since 2015, my go-to style has been a polo/jeans. I buy the Walmart polyester, sold color polos. They fit perfectly. Some are the George brand and some are Ben Hogan.
I always tuck my shirts into my slim black jeans . Black Chelsea boots and I don't like how raggedy some people dress . I hate tattoos and body piercings . ☮️👱🏼♂️🇺🇸🎸
I’m sorry. I don’t want a dress shirt collar on my polo shirts. I want my polo shirts to look like a polo shirt. If I wanted a collar like that I would just put on one of my dress shirts and button a couple extra buttons. I have found my best fit in Sunspell Riviera polos.
I'm loving your videos! Thank you so much for helping us guys out. I love the influence of a fellow veteran. Looking at your daughter's baptism photo, are you Orthodox? Pretty cool!
As a guy who lives in jeans and polos & tshirts. Not all polos are cut the same, need to go try them on and see what brand fits you best. Also yes spend a little more on the clothes they will last longer. If you are overwhelmed by choices try to find a stylist in the store, get the jeans tailored for the extra $15-25 more.
I agree with this. Not all polos are created equal! That being said, some of the more expensive ones you are just paying for the brand name so you need to find something that works for you. I'm not saying all the expensive ones are overpriced or that brands are necessarily "bad" as some are definitely worth the money but you need to use your own judgement a little bit.
@@MartinParnham exactly. I just don’t get all these brands being pushed. I totally get it, it’s a business. I’d like to see long term reviews on them, they are worn & washed over a period of months. Every shirt is nice brand new. Also mostly internet based clothes and can’t go to a store for a return or exchange.
My summer office look is tucked in polo and contrast chinos (I.e. light dark or vice versa) with loafers or Derby or double monks plus a sports jacket. Really nice business casual look
Im big and muscular and I still find it hard to find the right polo cut. Often the more expensive shirts actually seem the most "cookie cutter" and dont sit right. Like Antonio said you just need to play with different options and styles to find which cut sits on you the best!
I used to be fairly slim, but with big legs. Now I have late middle age gut (which I don’t like but am not motivated to deal with). I have always paid attention to my clothing choices. I’m retired now and don’t need to wear any dress shirts. Polos, especially in light colours, look hideous with the gut clinging to that pear shape. Instead I wear crumpled linen shirts, soft collar, untucked; always with nice shorts (I live in tropical Australia, so no winter) and Birkenstocks. I’m still shocked at how having a gut limits my clothing choices (although it doesn’t seem to stop a lot of men..)! Perhaps I’ll start exercising again.
@@Ben-jq5oo Do it mate, never too late to make improvements and feel better about yourself. I know how awful it is to feel uncomfortable about the way I look, the main reason I ever started working at keeping myself in shape. I like to think of physical training and exercise this way; Remember, a little bit of something is better than alot of nothing. Make a start today and build it little by little. Hope it goes well for you!! All the best, from Brissy ;)
No prints if you are over 16. No distressed denim if you are over 20. You also don't wear onesies anymore... And a polo is for an adult a replacement for a T-Shirt, not a dress shirt. Color: depends also on you skin tone, body size and climate zone (yes, makes a difference). Greetings from Europe. Other "rules" might apply in the US....
My go to outfit these past several months has been a button-down collared oxford shirt with belted jeans and light brown square toed ostrich boots by Tony Lama. I have also gone back to wearing a fragrance every day. I consistently get compliments from men and women with this combination. As summer approaches and temps climb, I'll have to start wearing short sleeve shirts. This video has given me several ideas. I think a polo or solid color T-shirt is the way to go. What is the consensus on short sleeve button downs with the jeans and boots? Another great and timely video, thanks Antonio
I quit wearing polos in my 20’s....I and you’re not in a frat so unless at work a polo doesn’t get worn any longer! A nice looking T-shirt looks waaaaay better!
The minute appears in the title of this channel's videos, you know it's a Collars and Co advertisement. On that note, good product and semi-spread collar works best for versatility and durability. English spread....too big...too much.
Thank you for putting out these videos! I really enjoy watching these videos, they are well put together and pleasant to watch. Thanks to your advices, I decided to go over my wardrobe with your advices and got clothes I love. After that, I got excited about your perfume videos (which are great!) And got myself some fragrances I like. Now, all of a sudden, I've started getting alot of compliments that my outfits look great, and I smell good too, haha. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all!
Love your videos Antonio, but one thing that is a bit frustrating is we never get to see the pants your wearing with your outfit. Your shirt and sport coat are always spot on. Would be nice to see how the pants complete the combo.
My understanding of the history of the shirt is that Lacoste created the shirt for tennis. Polo players wore what we now call OCBD's, which is why Brooks Brothers shirt says the original polo shirt. They switched to the "tennis" shirt because of its comfort. This is why Ralph Lauren eventually used the polo player for his logo.
I like the merino wool short sleeves polos and for the large sleeves I like the ones from Ralph L. For hot weather I have some mixed linen with cotton from Massimo Dutti and peeeerfect!
There seems to be a large volume of negative reviews for Collar and Co. Their Polo’s appear to be Polyester with inconsistent quality of fit and construction for their high price. I really wish this channel advertised for a higher quality shirt company.
@RealMenRealStyle I think you have missed the age factor, as in what patterns and/or colors look better with different age groups. For example I've been wearing horizontally striped (multicolor stripes) polos since teenage, and I really like them, but can I still wear them in late 30s or early 40s?
I want to see a range of body types modelling the clothes. Lots of us don’t have abs and aren’t interested in getting them. Let’s see some dad bods and older fuller body types.
I want to start wearing polos more but I absolutely hate the floppy collar on them. I have a pretty round face and when the collar doesn't stand up right my face looks even bigger / rounder. Unfortunately, I'm also in EU and it looks like we don't have anything like collars and co here.
As a woman viewing this polo shirt, I will give you my two cents' worth of opinion. The silky cotton jersey-type fabric of the Collars and Co, when stretched over a man's torso looks rather off-putting - like a tight second skin. The opposite of sexy. Better to buy it in a slightly larger size if you want to go for this option. This is why I prefer the pique fabric of the original polo shirt - it stands slightly away from the body and looks, in my opinion, far classier and sexier on a man. As do those made in a fine wool or silk/cashmere combination.
Not a great breakdown of denim types. Raw denim can be selvedge. Selvedge can be distressed. I'm not sure raw or selvedge plays into your point. When thinking about denim and how it works with an outfit, you should consider color and fit.
i’ve never heard pique enunciated “peak.” It’s a French word (1st used in polo shirts by Rene Lacoste for his famous Lacoste alligator-logoed brand) pronounced “pee-kay.”
I haven't been to this channel in a while but I'm back and it seems a LOT has changed. I remember Antonio used to tell us to go for solid colours and no loud busy designs and prints but then I saw him saying prints on a hoodie is fine. Now on this video he's saying ripped/distressed jeans are okay if you can pull off the look? WHAT?! Who are you and what have you done to Antonio? What changed?
What do you think about wearing open/unbuttoned shirts over a t-shirt? I love this style because it just feels practical and airy and doesn't look quite as plain as just a t-shirt, but I also heard that it's completely out of style today even though you often see influencers use this combination of open shirt and tshirt.
Recommendations on places to buy nice jeans? All the jeans I find in stores have designs on the pockets or too much washing. Can't find plain dark blue jeans.
Long sleeved polos get a bad rep but I like them and have 2 or 3. I think they look better on slimmer/skinnier guys like myself than on thickset guys and it works for the slimmer body type IMO. Granted, some of them do look a bit odd but it comes down to the fit, the style, the brand etc as well as your body type. I personally have always liked the look because it looks sleek/clean and is often a halfway house between a casual short sleeve polo and a dress shirt, as well as being a bit warmer. I know a lot of style snobs and menswear "experts" (present company excepted!) have a downer on the long sleeve polo but I've never really agreed with that.
How do I know what type of denim I’m buying. I’m price conscious, but I’d like to dress better. Can I dress up Walmart Jeans? I’m sure the answer is no to the carpenter style with the hammer loop on the side, but what about the other styles? Do I need to spend $100+ to get a nice pair of jeans?
OK, I was a walking fashion tragedy the first time I visited Paris and yet I was getting along quite well with the pretty Parisian girls anyway. Antonio , how do you know what's going on inside a girl's mind ? How did you become the high God of fashion and the perfect ladies man ?
I have to know about that sport jacket. I’ve seen you wearing it in a bunch of videos and I love it. Who makes it/where can I buy it? And where is a cheaper option lol
we need more on how to wear it right. sadly Chris Mehan stopped being active and we need someone else to take over with more examples of casual matching
About to plunge on some Collars and Co polos. What kind of collar are you modelling with your white polo in this video? Is that the semi spread collar? Going to start with white, navy, and black. :)
