Whats the difference between 2 variable statistics and using the linear regression? Also is there a difference between the linear regression (mx+b) and (a+bx)?

I am not sure, but I know that mx+b is the one which is the form of (y=mx+c) the equation of the straight line.. I hope I am correct...:)

pearson's for hypothetically linear cases, spearman's for continuously correlative cases (not necessarily linear)
