Been a long time fan of CoC. I got to BS with Pepper a few minutes after a Down show in August 2014. I was telling him that he inspired me to get a Gibson ES-335 and that someone once told me that my own music sounded heavily CoC influenced. Within a few months he was touring again with CoC. I need to give this album a few more spins, but the tracks that stand out to me are "The Luddite", "Little Man" and "Son and Daughter"...and the instrumental tracks.

excellent review from an excellent album. I like the new format, but don't be afraid to do the longer format also. Most of us metalheads love the long and expanded discussions on anything and everything metal, which is why this channel and reviews rock!

Excellent review - I've been trying to put my finger on who the title track reminded me of for a while now, and as soon as you referenced Earth, it clicked. Totally with you on the double-vinyl format working better for this than as an uninterrupted digital playlist too - it's a bit much to digest in one sitting, but with an intermission of sorts, it's all good. Keep up the great work!

Great record from Corrosion of Conformity. They are back to their Stoner Rock classic sound with some doom and sludge influence. No Cross No Crown is the first dope metal album this year.

Also- I'm so happy I got to see em on the 7th with Eyehategod and BLS at Upstate Concert Hall in NY. Eyehategod killed it, as did COC. I went for them primarily, altho Zakk is always great. Loved it !

I want that Saint Vitus shirt! Also, I'm a little shocked but kinda intrigued by Pepper being so much harsher on the vocals. Still some good clean singing, but he sounds so much more pissed off and energized this time around. And the guitar interplay between him and Woody is still as tight as ever

Idk how to rank Deliverance vs Blind vs Wiseblood. This one ranks along style wise with Arms of God and the newer DOWN albums imo. Pretty good stuff. Amazing how much their style has changed over the years

Awesome review! It's always great to listen to a new COC album it doesn't matter the line up they are playiny/recording. I would just add that the two 'in trio' albuns have had some influence and it's possible to notice it along the album.

Quite unbelievable that a serious channel like yours, goes out on COC's bio, and skips their best record ever, Deliverance. Wow....Bravo Champion 👍

It's funny you mentioned Buzzoven in the review because being from North Carolina, I saw COC and Buzzoven together more than a handful of times. They were always tight as far as I know. I'm glad to see you reviewed COC, though, because as much as I complain about being overfed COC being here throughout the 90s, I do believe they deserve credit for propagating Southern Rock and Black Sabbath. The coolest thing Pepper Keenan ever said was in an interview when he proclaimed that the Allman Brothers lived the Punk Rock life back in the day.

the song no cross no crown which is the name of the album corrosion has been doing shit like that since blind where they'll just add these Black Sabbath type interlude songs in there with his either just a guitar and singing or some bongos and singing or like with this you know it sounds like a church choir they always done stuff like that I think it works just fine. These guys have put a lot drugs into their bodies over the years they still fucking can throw down and despite some of the setbacks they've had and lineup changes. Woody weathermen reed mullin and Mike Dean touref before pepper Keenan got there and putting out two albums prior to Peppers return, I think really helped them and get their groove back and get NSYNC. In The arms Of God had several songs on there that were interlude songs, wise blood(the best album ever did), deliverance as well, America's volume dealer is probably the only album that didn't cuz it was such a a weak album for them. that maybe cause it was a more radio-friendly album.it's not a bad album I just think they had gotten to a point where they were burnout on each other and the music. So they took a little break after that and of course you know Reed Mullin left the band cuz , not because he wanted to but because he had to. He end up getting into a motorcycle accident and torched his back and ended up getting hooked on pain medication for a long time. But I tell you what" in the arms Of God" might be the best album they ever put outas in terms of production and where they were at musically and lyrically! But I still say as a whole band wise blood was the Pinnacle. In the arms of God was without Reed on there. they had a New Orleans drummer from galactic on there and he did a great job but it would have been better if Reed had been on there. They've been around a long time your where they were in the 80s do the stuff in the 90s and then in the new millennium denial they really shown us the versatility of their music and how they're still relevant in the world of metal Southern metal. Hats off to you guys you deserve it. Great new album I dig it!

Haha. Classic lineup? I know she means "most popular" lineup but didn't In the Arms of God come out in 2005? Yes. Yes, it did. Then she doubles down with the "classic lineup" thing. Who in COC was ever in Superjoint Ritual!? Moving on...She knows In the Arms of God is a thing but by now it's clear she's just reading something. And that's worse because now there are at least two people at Banger who can't do simple research and editing. I understand that not everyone is into COC like me and most of you judging by the comments but as a media outlet, even a simple RU-vid channel, you gotta do you your homework or you'll quickly expose how amateur and ignorant you are.

COC has been one of my all time favorite bands since I fist heard them when the Blind album came out. There's not one record I dislike. A lot of people didn't dig Americas Volume Dealer but I liked it. I LOVED the last 2 albums they put out without Pepper but...now that he's back THIS album is jusy KILLER from start to finish. Too long? I guess I see that but for me...it's the right length. Very much reminds me of Deliverance in it's song structure and length but also Wiseblood and In the Arms of God. I've been waiting a LONG time for this record and the boys brought it! All of their various styles are present and the riffs...the power of their riffs compel me! MY only complaint is that Pepper sings lead on all of the songs (I think). I wish they would mix it up when he's in the band because THEY ALL can deliver great lead vocals. I'd very much dig a record where they all take a stab at that the lead vocal role. That's my only complaint.

This is why "millennials" should not do rock/metal reviews of something they know nothing about. At the 5 minute mark she's trying to describe what she's hearing. She's way off! It's esoteric/pagan in nature. I know this because I have a Masters in History, I've read nearly a 100 books on ancient history, and I've read dozens of books by Manly P. Hall. Plus, I've notice a lot of other bands going this route via lyrics and in even in their videos. It's not rocket science. And yet, I still enjoy these bands, despite the fact that they sing about esoteric/pagan things. It is, what it is.

I'm sorry but this girl doesn't know shit. C.O.C is one of the best bands around especially love. These guys kill it each and every time. There is nothing worse then a band that doesn't evolve. Corrosion has grown and changed with each and every album. In my opinion these cats deserve more respect then they receive.

King Diamond Ear Ring, haha I love it - I picked THEM for 1988 best record.

Although a fan of the Pepper material I still prefer "Eye for an Eye" & "Animosity" over the rest.

BLIND in my opinion is the best COC album.

The album is great - it has lots of Sabbath influences and undertones whilst remaining original. It’s much better on repeated plays.

Jesus Christ I'm not even 2 minutes in, and I cannot watch anymore of this.... Seriously? Who in COC was in Superjoint, OR EHG? Maybe because Jimmy played with them for 10 minutes? So I forgave that. Hell, the drummer from Galactic played with them longer! Then, "they started their southern rock/sludgey (or whatever stupid label she gave it), sound with Wiseblood" OK, bye. I guess Deliverance, the album that "MADE" them didn't happen? Please use something other than Wikipedia for research. While I am a bigger fan of Animosity era COC, as that was one of the best records of my teenage years, which made me not even want to care about bands like Motley Crue. I kind of have a soft spot for after Pepper joined, as he was in my friend Wayne's band, Graveyard Rodeo, here in New Orleans. I mean look, you are a cute young lady, and that is a cool St Vitus (I first saw them in 1985 with the Brood opening, in New Orleans) shirt and all, but seriously....do your research. Having a cool shirt does not mean know you what you're talking about. I'm sure this assignment was given to you, so it's probably not all your fault. I'm actually glad people your age are listening to cool stuff. Makes me have hope for the future. Next time, wear a Pentagram shirt please!

I wasn't expecting much, especially since I'm still savoring their last two releases as a trio, but Pepper delivers on this. as far as the three or four instrumentals in this giving it a "too long" taste for all things C. O. C. I feel these bring a more ambient Deliverance feel to the whole thing. although this is not as good as their 2012 self titled disc, and also falls short of Deliverance, Wiseblood and ITAOG, this jam is still heads and shoulders above Metallica's 10th album(puke inserted here)
