So sorry I forgot to insert the iq overlay showing the actuation adjustment :( Corsairs website shows it well www.corsair.com/us/en/p/keyboards/ch-910961g-na/k70-max-rgb-magnetic-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-adjustable-corsair-mgx-switches-steel-grey-ch-910961g-na

Rapidfire is about the reset point. If you set your actuation point high, like a speed switch, rapidfire makes it so that when you bottom out (or any point past the actuation), the moment you start coming up becomes the reset point. It's the perfect feature for a high actuation point, so you don't need to fully release the key to the set actuation point, making it as "speedy" as it can possibly be. Wooting has a little animation that shows how it works on their site. I've used the wooting60he for a long time now, and I really don't like the feeling of other boards without it. While it won't magically turn you into a god, it does add more consistency by solving the biggest flaw with speed switches.
@LastAphelion

I'm debating getting the Wooting vs Max right now. The only reason I want the Max is that I love using the scroll volume and use the media keys daily to pause and skip and shows without tabbing out.

I did my research last week (listened to all the sound videos, lubed vs unlubed, sound mods etc. On Wooting this is all easy as pie since the keys can pop right out) and decided to go for the Wooting 2. I just want to try some new keys, I'd be super upset if the cherry keys on Max started chattering in just a few months just like my current K70 did. And Wootings software looks far nicer and more adjustable to work with.
@normantux2288
@normantux2288 Год назад
@@LastAphelion well you just did your research wrong, you do understand that key chatter is a problem of contact switches, which these are not, they are hall effect switches. Even if theoretically hall effect switches have it, then wooting is no exception for it as they use the same technology for switches :)
@LastAphelion
@LastAphelion Год назад
@@normantux2288 Maybe I mis said something I never was worried about wooting having chatter, my corsair board had horrible chatter and I wouldnt trust corsair boards again after that. I already got my wooting and its amazing and wish I got one sooner

Big question is if Corsair has fixed the issue with their KB's failing and having multiple keystrokes with a single press. I've had 3 fail on me this way over the past 2 - 3 yrs and I'm about ready to just give up on the company. For how expensive these things are, there is no reason for them to have issues across different models. I thought it was a fluke the first time it happened, but after the 2nd and then the 3rd... enough is enough. I've had cheap $50 and less that never had these kinds of issues that last me years and then spend $150+ and yet to get one to last more then 2 years.

my k70 mk2 se has been doing this for over a year. I constantly clean it out, works for 3 seconds, then goes back to not registering, or inputting 4 letters peer press I cant even enter my passwords right now lol I just gotta replace it. That rgb on the silver+white board has been aesthetically one of my favorite boards though, I cant find another that I like as much (it gives the impression that the rgbs are more pastel than they are)

I'm always amused by people that don't use full sized keyboards for gaming. In almost every case I have found it is someone that gamed all their lives on console and moved over to PC as an "adult" but never actually mastered the interface. Usually more then four buttons on the mouse melts their brains.
@iSpenC
@iSpenC 5 месяцев назад
@@TurboLoveTrain weird because this is true and accurate for me lol. I switched from full size because I never needed a numpad while gaming and my mouse hit my keyboard one time lol. I do use full size for work. Have to have a numpad for work. I like my mouse with 5 buttons so far.
@TurboLoveTrain
@TurboLoveTrain 5 месяцев назад
@@iSpenC I've seen it happen more times than I can count. I got used to keeping my keyboard so the "a" key almost lines up with the left side of my display when I game--my main display is 27 inch and I have tons of mouse room. Oddly enough this actually keeps me very centered on my display. I use the keypad for menus or anything I don't need immediately while fighting. Maps and equipment menus and such. I also use the arrow keys quite a bit to move around out of combat so I can drink coffee or snack. On an old switch type keyboard the good thing about the extra keys is if you have a button going bad you just swap it with the pause or print screen switch or one of the function keys that you hardly use.

Great review, thank you! I currently have the Steelseries Apex Pro full sized keyboard. I do 100 percent love it. I actually do use the actuations. For gaming, I use very sensitive keys, although, for ones that do a function I do not want to accidentally trigger, I will set it to be less sensitive. Regular typing I make less sensitive since I am a touch typer. I do not want to accidentally press keys. I love the ability to change my key sensitivity, and I don't think I could ever go back. I just wish ALL the keys on the apex pro has it. However, it seems the Corsair one does, and that looks like my next keyboard when this one no longer functions. As for my keyboard preferences. I will say the most important important thing for me is quality. I stopped using Logitech, because the keys kept rubbing off. Granted, it was back when I was using cheap, non gaming keyboards with the stickers that says what the keys are. However, my last Logitech was a gaming keyboard, mechanical switches, light up (white only), but laser etched, none of these stickers. And even then, the keycaps wore out quite quickly. Since then, I switched to Steelseries, and my keycaps are absolutely fine. So quality is extremely important to me. As for how the keyboard sounds. I feel that the sound of a keyboard, and its' quality, goes hand in hand to a degree. The other thing that is important in a keyboard is its' features. This keyboard you reviewed seems to hit all the important things that I look for. Thanks again for the review! I loved it

The foam is a must for Corsair's keyboards. I couln't keep the K100 because of the ping (for a 269.99€ kb it's ridiculous) But the one thing that Corsair's do miles better than Razer is their PBT font. The RGB is so much pronounced and better than Razer's one.

I bought this when it dropped under $200 USD. Easily the best keyboard I've ever owned and it feels like butter. It is a blessing that Zoomers don't know how to use fullsized keyboard while gaming so this thing is a steal for what you get. You can't see the silver edges when you use the keyboard--I didn't even notice them until you pointed them out and with the backlit RGB the lighter gray of the PBT keys looks pretty gud.. Maybe I have a newer version but my spacebar sounds significantly cleaner than yours. They also just fixed iCue so you don't need to have iCue running to keep the board fully configured. I'm not sure why anyone would need on the fly actuation configuration while gaming but I do have a gaming profile and a typing profile. It is mind boggling to me that people would use their gaming actuation and key configuration for every day use...? People do this?.. .but yeah, switching between profiles is one button. Rapid fire is the heat and the adjustable key actuation with the HE switches is incredible.

The price is really what kills the interest of that keeb personally. Plus the fact it doesn't have Rapid Trigger doesn't make it a Wooting Two HE alternative (which costs more expensive). Corsair can sometimes make good products but the fact thay are so expensive immediately makes it a no-go for anyone, or they are always late to the party.

As a current owner of an Apex Pro, this looks pretty great! My Apex Pro has been perfect but Steelseries have seriously over-bloated their software, which I don't like. And a recent update to their software has disabled all of the features to my Keyboard, and since wiped my RGB settings for headphones and mouse. And it's been a very long back and forth with their support to try and find a solution for it. (which btw, their support makes it pretty difficult to actually make a ticket). With these in mind, despite getting a good few years of use out of my Apex Pro, and given what I've heard from friends who use Corsair products, I'd probably get a Corsair keyboard instead.

What this video doesnt say is that the steel series software that goes with the apex pro is absolutely trash. Every single time i restart my computer, the keyboard goes back to a default colour, and no matter what i try, the software cant change the colours back. I then have to manually go into the settings in the keyboard screen itself, press change profile, and boom it works again. Every. Single. Pc. Restart. Seriously. Ive tried everything, reinstalling the software, factory resetting the keyboard multiple times, tried every setting under the sun, nothing fixed it, every single pc restart, it resets back to default colours. The only way i could use the keyboard is by not using the software at all and use one of the colour presets built into the keyboard , and just use that instead. Which means you can only choose between 5 colours. Also the software for some reason replaced all of my sound drivers with steelseries version, and this was activated by default. The issue with that is that with steelseries drivers, 100% volume sounded like 15% volume... i had to disable all of their sound nonesense to get it working again, and reinstall realtek drivers. And their software is full of adverts. Full of it. Needless to say, never using a steelseries product ever again.

No USB passthrough is what's stopping me from upgrading my K70 Platinum. It's getting pretty old, a couple LEDs have gone out, one of the feet broke off and wont go back on, some keys have lost the ability to use blue...all things that would of prompted me to get a new keyboard but I know how much I use that USB passthrough and it scares me how much I'll miss it.

I see why these linear switches with rapid fire seem gimmicky, but believe me in tac shooters where you need to stand completely still to be accurate (csgo, valorant) and need to do so as fast as possible, these things are almost cheating! I also heard from the osu community, that this technology enables them to have a far easier time maintaining score streaks.

The rapid fire thing seems interesting as i find myself plenty of times in games wanting to press some key fast and and repeatedly and so i get to go in smaller and smaller press distance, basically almost holding it completely pressed down and having to pull up my finger less and less. But what happens is that it doesn't reset and register all the time. But wondering if it's really needed if you can already change the actuation setting and so for max setting to trigger at the bottom. I guess maybe with this rapid fire it would be possible to have best of both worlds? Like set it max to trigger at the max top just with a small pinch but also reset and register even if you press it while keeping it pressed all the way.
