Amazing tip, it worked! BTW, just so you know, you DONT have to dissasemble the whole mouse, after the 2 screws and the pry-open of the cover, even just the front part, clean the button with a small brush, rotating the wheel to make sure you get it all, blow the dust and dirt gently and slightly lift the wheel and gently spray the WD40... Close cover, mush that middle button and thats it! Less than 5 min solution... ;)
For anyone whose watching this in 2020.. the new corsair m65 has one whole motherboard so it’s better to just pry open the top piece, put wd-40 on the cube button and press it repeatedly very fast. No need to take apart the wheel and motherboard. Just fixed mine!
The middle click on my M65 that I bought last May started acting up and required more force than usual. I followed these basic steps, dabbed a little alcohol on the button underneath that the click wheel uses, reassembled and gave it several dozen clicks, works perfectly with barely any effort now. Thank you!
Mine was a little different to take apart probably due to the age, but I was about to buy a new mouse before trying this video. Worked like a charm! Thank you!
Really glad I had the right tools, and really glad I found this video. Mighta broken something otherwise. xD The problem I had was the wheel not scrolling, had some fine hair and dust around the side of the axle that drives the wheel switch (you know what I mean). Cleaned it out and now I can actually scroll/zoom. Happy days.
Thanks so much for the disassembly!!! I used WD-40 Electrical Contact Cleaner just to make sure I didn't make the switches less conductive. I appreciate the help that all the internet provides. I probably would have had to buy a new mouse if you didn't make this!!!
Thank you so much. I actually used thsi fix for the middle button on my Corsair Katar. It is pretty much the same but the dis-assembly is a little different. You have to pry the rubber pads off the bottom of the mouse to access the screws under those. I might have to glue them back on.
It worked! Thanks for this! Now the middle button is back, and the left one that was acting like if I've made a double click every time I pressed it once works flawlessly again! WD40 FTW! Can't believe such a pricey mouse could have this problems that even an old cheap Genius one still doesn't have. Thanks again for the help
Perfectly explain for disassembly, even if i stoped when i opened the upper part. As soon as i saw the pression button under the mouse wheel, i took a drop of "essence" (petrol?) with the fine screw, and just touch the button. The liquid directly got inside by capilarity, then i pressed several time, waited it to dry. Now it works as it was new ! Thanks again !
I did this to my CORSAIR M65 Pro RGB and I can confirm that it works, so instead of spending more money buying a new mouse, I spent 3$ on a can of WD40 and my mouse is back to normal now :) Thanks for the help man.
@@DIYTech21 Quick question though, I heard WD40 can corrode certain materials, is they something I need to worry about? What happened to your mouse, is it still alive?
@@M_P_N It was a friends so not sure if alive or not. However i am using the same thing on my gigabyte GM-M6800 since 2011. Its totally safe. The button has nothing inside that WD-40 can corrode. & yes i am literally using the same mouse for around 8 years now. Need this treatment around 6-7 months or so
The instructions are a little different for an m65 pro rgb but mostly the same. This worked great! although I don't know how advised it is, but you can just spary a little contact cleaner without taking out the board.
Thank you! This worked for me but I didn't remove the clicker from the body anymore. WD40 FTW! also fixed my strafe double type. Thanks for this guide!!!
Though I have a slightly newer model of the mouse, this worked for me. I'm kinda baffled that lubricating the mouse wheel components would help it that much haha
They just dont want the mouse to run forever or how they would sell the new one. Compare these expensive brands with lenovo, dell HP etc. Their mice have 10x more life than these.
Thanks for the instructions. I was able to take top off by sliding pry tool along sides from front to back and then using a little pressure with hands to pull apart (gently, of course). This way I avoided the dings. Unfortunately for me the problem was that the frosted white plastic piece in the cover that clicks the button mechanism broke. That white frosted piece seems to be part of a greater whole going all the way down to the lighting screen. That piece that broke off is like a semi-thick little roof over two little side walls. Short of finding another broken used mouse for parts, I may have to engineer an alternate solution. In the mean time, currently Best Buy has them on sale for $39 so the cost-benefit ratio prompted me to buy a new one and keep the old one for parts, just in case.
DIY Tech Thanks, I thought that at first, but the top broke into more than one smaller pieces with at least one segment missing. No worries, I’ll let you know what I figure out.
Used this video to repair the wheel click button of my M65 RGB Elite. I couldnt find how to remove the top cover lol... I figured it out by myself after that. (i desoldered the button and put it inside an empty soda bottle with some isopropyl alcohol and gave it a shake for like 2 minutes)
thank you for the video, from your video, once I know what is the problem is, I only loose the screws, and some how let the pipe of WD40 in, without take off the cover. Spay the button. press couple time, works. thank you again.
Opened my mouse after a bit fight. I had some sensor issues on my mouse and a sniping button was a bit off also. Opened everything and cleaned it up, now working again. I had hard time to re attach the blue wire back since i had quiet shaky hands ;D. Thanks for making this video!
Now my Middle Button is fixed, but now the right of the mouse is just plain stuck, it's as if the right click is locked and it wont lift up, do you know how to fix this?
This happened to me to. I opened and closed the mouse several times but the right click button was still stuck. Finally the larger of the two white plastic pieces under the right click button broke off, and now it works great!
Just wanted to say thank you this worked on a Corsair m60 also but I did not have a easy to remove wheel like the m65 so i just opened the top and wd/40 the buttons works like new again.
Hi! I have a question, whats inside the dpi button? I preferred remove the pcb instead of disconnect the flex and now I can't use the dpi button, I think something else was there
In there is a tactile push button. Spray it with some body spray , or might have connected the ribbon cable wrong. Those switches are difficult to destroy
LOL literally just posted on Corsair forum for having the same issue. Clicked on your vid just to show support. Never again buying from Corsair. Will be looking at Razer or Steel Series for mouse since I've had good experience with them with my previous mice.
Left click started to double click. I bought new microswitches from a manufacturer that makes them specifically for gaming mice, desoldered the old switches and put in the new ones. No double clicks yet. If it starts acting up again, it's probably bad firmware instead (even though good quality switches aren't supposed to require debouncing, it's good practice to program it in anyway or let user decide) and just to be safe I'll replace them again and solder in capacitors for denouncing.
i had the same problem for weeks and this video helped a lot! just follow the disassembly and spray wd-40 on the left "clicker" click it for some time and for me it fixed my problem
@@laten8k thanks dude, but i dit solve this problem by just (weirdly enough) blowing into the side of the mouse. I wouldn't ever have tought that this could work, but it did!
Is there anyway to buy replacement PCB boards for the M45 version? My PCB seems to have suffered an electrical burn out and not the middle button is basically hindering the left button from working properly.
I contacted Corsair and they said the M65 uses similar internals to where the button PCB can be swapped out for one another. only improvement they made was adding a side button and the laser, which are located on a separate board. I have a high chance of finding internal replacement parts for the M65. Thanks for the reply!
Back again to clean this mouse. Same problem, scroll wheel sticking because of hair, fluff and stuff. This model is a bad design. Being so open around the wheel just invites junk in. It's a mini vacuum cleaner. To compare, my Dad has a regular cheap mouse that he's had for over 5 years, it has had this problem only once, about 2 months ago, I opened it, cleaned it and in a few minutes it was back together and running like new. Yet this expensive gaming mouse needs to be cleaned about every 6 months and is a pain in the bum to open and fix. What I'm noticing is that over time, even when it's just been cleaned, the scroll action is deteriorating, it sometimes doesn't register that I've scrolled. Thank god I'm not a gamer like my bro who plays fps and uses the wheel to quickly scroll through items... in fact it's no wonder why he gave me this mouse 2 years ago, after only using it for about 8 months :P Go figure. Don't buy this mouse.
lenovo old mice are really long lasting. I have been using a already used one for 2 years now. And believe me in my office work we click more than shooting in fps :D
@@DIYTech21 xD noted! I don't like making waste, and I can't give this mouse away as I at least now how to use it and maintain it... but I can't wait for it to die! xD Then, I'll get a new, middle range mouse :P
Yes it will work. But keep in mind not matter how expensive the mouse it after year use they start doing what u are facing. Cleaning is a temporary fix. It will last for 4-5 months max. Reason : the copper shims inside the click buttons get oxidized and the clicks are not registered properly due to weak current flow. I will make a video on this , might boring for many but will definitely show why the mouse start skipping and double clicking after extensive use. And will share a better/more professional solution to it as well.
@@DIYTech21 I'm starting to regret buying this mouse lol. but if there is a permanent/long term fix for these that would be awesome because my mine currently has both the left button and the middle button acting up
ok. so i took apart the mouse, and i found that the little black box that makes the clicking sound, is fine on the right, but doesn't click on the left. i really need a way to fix this, i don't have a left click. please help, thanks.
Two options. #1 Replace the whole button if you know how to solder. You can get that button from any cheap mouse. They are all same as far as i know so you wont have a problem replacing, the only thing required is soldering. You can even buy the button the part number is D2fc-f #2 Open that small black box and it might be the small part that is just misaligned and you need to put it back at the right place. This small black box has removable cover once you will look close enough you will know how to. How ever here is a pic how it should be from inside once that Black box is opened. i.stack.imgur.com/FCJML.jpg
scontent-mxp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/19959360_1021192474650489_4138684202904789486_n.jpg?oh=85ae718410b5af0170db55e9e8c1e8f0&oe=5A091884 If it looks like this one, there are buckle type structures on each end of the black box of the top cover that u have to pull away a bit and then pull the cover upwards. If you think the black box is all closed then it might not be possible to open and u might have to replace it with a new one. Unfortunately i didnt pay that close attention to the click button once my mouse was opened as my issue was different. Can u share the pics of yours ??
Accidentally left mine a little too close to the heater beside my bed overnight... It now short circuits whatever usbs i plug it into and i have to unplug the mouse to get those usb's working again. Was considering taking it apart but thats a no-go, a new one would be like 110$ cad, so I think I'll just get a logitech one on sale for now ;-; Funnily enough i also lost a pair of corsair headphones to the heater.. i should really be more careful about that
@@DIYTech21 I took it apart all the way and it looks perfectly fine, the wire on the other case felt hard inside like the wire casings melted inside it. I'll replace the cable at some point but I got a logitech G600 in the meanwhile. Your tutorial was very helpful to take it apart and be sure im not breaking anything! :)
@@ferdtheterd3897 just an idea if u can solder, you can use any USB extension wire or mobile charging wire, keep the male end n cut n connect the other wire to mouse.
@@DIYTech21 IT WORKED!! So i cut out the part where the inside wires had melted and rejoined the wire at the good parts and plugged it with my fingers crossed and BOOM The rgb turned on!! So this is very cool and I gave the Logitech mouse to my mom cuz it has loads of buttons and she likes being able to only use the mouse :)
I need someone to do one for the Ironclaw Wireless cause I used that spray can air that has liquid in it that is supposed to be safe on electronics and I used it to clean it and now it doesn't move, I AM PISSED OFF, the buttons work, everything works but the fucking sensor, did they properly test it? I'm pissed and this was 80 fucking bucks for me, well technically I got it for 50 bucks but for the price, you would think it wouldn't have sensor problems after being hit by liquid dammit, I'm thinking of next time just putting some damn fucking conformal coating on the PCB just to keep it from doing this again.
Of all the mouses I have owned.. this is probably the most well built one, but Jesus that was an ass to get apart. On a good note. No screws under the pads which is a huuuuge plus
I found the metal part removing from plastic the most difficult one :P And yes no screws under pad is the best thing but only those know who have repaired mice
hey i got a m65 pro mouse and this morning i dropped it on its bottom and now the scroll wheel doesnt work. it doesnt scroll i opened it up and it looks like there is nothing wrong with the scrolling beacuse i still see the little cog to the right of it turn when i scroll the wheel. anyone know how to fix
You mean it rotates but on screen scrolling is not working. It might be the wire. Scroll thingy has 3 wires attached to it u will need to confirm if those are not broken
I tried it on my M65 RGB but the left and right button wont click anymore, they seem stuck. Idk what to do. Also when I plug the mouse in it flashes green light on the DPI sensor. Idk
I had some trouble with some left-clicks not registering so I stuck some tape on the left-click actuator to increase its sensitivity. Im surprised to say i think it worked lol
You might have pressed it too hard during the cleaning process. Or u might have not reassembled correctly. Just open it again and check those tiny red thingies if that is clicking okay or not.
I dont have any screw driver small enough to get into those holes. This is the third corsair mouse I've bought that's done this and I cant even get into to damn thing to maybe fix it like I did the rest. I got it brand new, full price and haven't even had it a year. Never ever ever buying corsair again. Utter dog shit.
