Corteo first premiered in Montreal in 2005 and has visited more than 60 cities in 19 different countries as a Big Top show before transforming into an arena show in 2018. In the remount process, from the Big tent to the arena, new acts have been added.
Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown.
The clown Mauro has passed, but his spirit is still with us. Instead of mourning, the funeral cortege celebrates the here and hereafter with laughter and exuberance. Rich, extravagant memories frolic with the senses. The sound of laughter peals around the stage, visions of joyous tumblers and players fascinate the eyes. Regret and melancholy retreat in the face of a cavalcade of lively recollections of a life gloriously lived. A festive parade that entertains; the perfect accolade for an artist whose life was dedicated to revelry and making merry.

I saw this show back in 2007 and it just captivated my heart. Have literally travelled the world to see Cirque since. Having seen about 15 shows by now, I still rate this as the best, even compared to the big Vegas productions. This one has soul. Just booked tickets to see it for the third time this September in my hometown of Oslo!

@@saartjevanhaeren37 I rate Alegria highly too, particularly for the musical score. I dunno, I just connected with how the life of the clown was celebrated in the context of his funeral. This added a dimension to the experience. Apart from that, the little lady in the helium balloons is a stand-out number. And I like the joy and mayhem of the trampoline act also.

@@J94ML Yes, actually I do. The 'funeral' concludes with the clown departing to 'heaven', escorted by angels. This comment has me excited for when the show comes to my area. I've seen 3 shows in total, Michael Jackson One, Alegria, and Drawn to Life. All were good, but One has been my favorite by far.

The show is so magical and AMAZING!!! I go everytime I have the chance in San Diego. If you are debating if you should go or not trust me the show worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY!!! Watch it live is just unbelievable!!!

I have a friend who is sensitive to sudden loud noises and thus hates balloons, would it be okay to tell me more details about the part with the balloon lady? That way I could decide if it would be a show I could take her to or not :)

⁠@@madhattressnightcore2754 The balloons don’t pop as part of the act (i guess there is a chance they might by accident, but they didn’t when I saw them), and they serve a floatational purpose rather than shock or noise. There are loud musical noises that may bother your friend (idk her level of sensitivity but there are cymbals, etc.), but otherwise I would highly recommend seeing the show!

Just so magical. I loved every part of it. My 7 year old daughter was also transfixed. Classic circus elements with an ethereal transcendence.

Cirque du Soleil yes it was beautiful, was captured by every moment. Bought the music. CD and the mug, to remind me of the special evening. I love you guys! So happy we had the chance to see you performing, amazing crew, incredible skills, and awesome / funny acting. I loveee the costumes. Greastory telling and I love all the angels and the chandeliers. Job well done, wish it was even longer, lol 😁 it ended too soon for me. Love you guys, bless you and all your crew, wish you all the best!

I just loved the Giant Clown's presence in the show, and his voice. But to me, the drummer and his friendly and comical expressions made the show so much more special. (Houston, 2024)

Yo, el primer espectáculo de cirque du Soleil que miré fue, Alegría, después miré, Dralion,Ovo,Varekai, quidam,Toruk, y Luzia. Por supuesto todos en vivo y es una experiencia totalmente distinta a verlo en tv. Me, the first cirque du Soleil show I watched was Alegría, then I watched Dralion, Ovo, Varekai, quidam, Toruk, and Luzia. Of course all live and it is a totally different experience to see it on TV.

Every year they come to Houston I go and watch them, but I have noticed that the filler numbers are getting more and more time than the actual acrobatic numbers. To me it is lowering the quality of the cirque, and I think most will agree with me. This time only 3 numbers were high quality of the about 10 they did. The clowns and music numbers are not that good to spend that much money, maybe 1 clown performance and 1 music number per show would be good, but we go for the awesome acrobatics and top of the line athletes that cirque de soleil is known for, not the fillers that are getting more annoying with the passing of the time. PLEASE FIX THIS, I know the cirque will eventually fail if they have more fillers than actual high quality performances.

cirque was started by clowns. clown acts are not filler, they are the beating heart of each show. alongside music they are indispensable. to call them filler is not only insulting but entirely false. educate yourself.

Logan, you are wrong, Cirque du soleil was started by stilt walking street performers, and for hundreds of years before that, clowns have always been used as a filler act between performances.

@@joshhernandez3819 the original comment is using filler extremely negatively. yes clowns have been in between acts for as long as performance has existed, but by calling it "filler" it diminishes the hard work and effort that has been put into the clown act. it isn't just "filling" the space, its equal to all the other acts and should be respected as such (Which the original comment is not doing). also what does cirque being started by stilt walkers have to do with anything lol, its unrelated 💀

I saw Corteo yesterday 22 September 2002 in Vienna, Austria. I have seen before many cirque du soleil shows which were great, but the Corteo from yesterday cannot in any way be compared to them. Yesterday was boring and basic, especially from the acrobatic point of view. I couldnt believe it was really cirque du soleil, it felt like some play for children. To say that I am disappointed is to say nothing. If cirque du soleil has become what I saw yesterday, then good night.

I know Cirque doesn’t control the arena ticket prices, but they are insane for what is being offered. Lots of twisted necks facing sideways, starting at $80 and beyond what would have been the furthest seating in the tent.

I would say YES, Cirque du Soleil is for everyone, but a 8 year old should understand whats to see and will be happy with the music. So I went wirh my Nice to TOTEM and next year to Corteo and she loves TOTEM. So,... Yes I would say Yes! =)
