cool i love it. - early cars had stiffer springs than the later cars. - early cars with single piston brakes are actually extremely good, although if you just wanted to have the later j55 option front calipers, a simple adapter bracket is available to put later j55 calipers on early cars, this happens all the time. - using wheel adapters to put those beauty c6 rims on an early c4 is also done all the time. just a diffsize than the later cars. - i love the early parking brake setup because you can swap your rear calipers without affecting the parking brake 🤘

That's cool. You get a real nice ride out of the Corvette for a budget price.

Great video. Wish you did a kit for the rear. I have a 65 C10 Stepside with plans to upgrade the rear with a C4 Corvette IRS. I don't want a complete chassis as the front end will have the QA1 coil over upgrade. Your work looks 1st class.

Actually I do have a kit but I don’t sell it. Mainly because It is not financially worth it since people will copy it easily.

Beautiful work. Loved to have some good modern handling suspension under my Dodge Dakota's.

Nice looking work on that. Wouldn't mind a setup like that under my '88 C1500.
@croccustom

Thanks. An 88 is usually a totally custom application. Since it has already got independent front suspension most people will only adopt for a rear conversion. But a full blown setup would be trick.

Hello, that was some good work. I am considering buying a Volvo L-3314, it is an 4x4 army truck. Looking at the hardtop version and I am thinking if I buy it maybe I will try to get an approvement for modrnization. As far as I can see it should work well with a mod like yours here. The frame is not notched though, so either it would have to continue beeing a monster truck or it could be modified I guess. Imaging it would be a good mod both for steering, anti roll and of course also brake upgrade :) Do you know the track width of the c4 corvette wide parts? also what was the corvette c4 year one should look for? was it 2002 you said?

One of the cool ideas is taking the 4WD suspension out from under the vehicle and putting the body on a lowered suspension. The Corvette suspension is around 61" for the 84-87. 88-89 is only a 1 1/2" wider but it comes with twin piston front calipers. They are relatively cheap to buy especially when you ate getting 4 wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and full independent suspension and all aluminum components

Nice job. Did you cut the inner steps of the cab to fit this chassis or the the chassis is narrow enough for the cab to sit comfortably? Thanks

Chassis is built to original dimensions. it will bolt straight underneath.

Can you build a comparable frame complete that can be mated with a 1966 to 1969 for air Cores body.?

Hello there I have a 1950 chevy 3100 and I want to do a body swap from a 1988 Corvette is it possible to do the whole swap
@croccustom
@croccustom 2 года назад
Sometimes things may look easy and more economical but in realism that doesn't really work. I personally have never done any type of frame swap. They end up costing more of a hassle than anything. The wheelbase of the Corvette is different than the truck which means you wood have to cut the chassis. Then you would have to make up all the correct body mounts. Working from the original Chassis works best and keeps the value also an equivalent aftermarket chassis.

My only question is, can it still be used like a truck, can I still carry like a quad or an engine for a project will I need stiffer shocks for that. Please let me know
@croccustom
@croccustom 9 месяцев назад
It can be used as a working truck. If you want heavier loads you would have to use a airbag system to keep the ride height. Corvette suspension needs to stay at it designed ride height otherwise the geometry will go out of alignment .

I see the motor set quite far back. You ever run into problems with the motor hitting the rack? Could you put in a conventional steering box instead?
@croccustom
@croccustom 10 месяцев назад
The motor is close to the rack and pinion but fits in the perfect spot in relation to the firewall and radiator. The front section of the chassis is designed to fit the Corvette setup. Going back to a conventional steering box would defeat the purpose since you want the rack and pinion for the more direct steering.

You talked about ride height of the rear suspension. At correct ride height, are the half shafts supposed to be level or sloping up or down? Thanks.
@croccustom
@croccustom Год назад
They are suppose to run up and down at about 10 deg. If you run them level you run the risk of throwing the geometry out when they bounce past the level area.
@stevenpringle7813
@stevenpringle7813 Год назад
@@croccustom So if you run an imaginary line from the differential out to the wheel that is parallel to the ground, the half shafts should be 10 degrees downhill from the differential to the wheel measured off of the imaginary line?
@croccustom
@croccustom Год назад
@@stevenpringle7813 Yes. Also make sure the half shafts are 90 deg. to the frame looking from the top. It helps to keep the geometry with its parameters.

You get a nice ride from the suspension . It is just a lot more to set up under the GTO. Usually I do a front graft.
