Always a delight and great pleasure to listen and learn from you, our dear beloved Shaykh Abdal Hakim. Jazak Allah Khairin for the time and effort you have put into these Paradigms of Leadership lectures, they truly are remarkable. I'm a person very close to you in age and can say it's not just the young who benefit from your work. There are those 70+ - 80+ years of age who are still fascinated by these stories. How wonderful is that!

As always I am incredibly joyful when a new lecture of Sh. Winter is published and I wish not to complain or look ungrateful but I must say that felt a bit uneasy when the use of AI generated content was used to supplement the lecture. I don't want to make a big deal out of it by explaining all the ethical and aesthetical implications in detail. But this might be something that should be looked into when considering the use of generated "art" next time.

I love the Sheikh and what CMC is doing but it is worth considering the ethical implications of using AI to create images. While the AI may draw inspiration from Carravaggio or Zurbarán, it will also amalgamate various online sources, many of which hold copyright. The AI has learned from a massive library of images without compensating the original artists (many of which are alive and struggling to make ends meet). The creators of Stable Diffusion have basically admitted that it would be a near-impossible task to retroactively compensate artists and therefore will just ignore the ethical implications. I was hoping that the Muslim Colleges would disengage entirely from AI tech, or atleast be the final stronghold of human endeaver and creativity. Peace

thank you for bringing this up. One thing to consider is, if AI is learning "from a massive library of images", then at best each artist has a very tiny & indirect "contribution" to the image, so would not the compensation for one artist would be miniscule anyway? Besides, don't artists also learn and get inspired from many images? So let's not rush in calling this as stealing or as unethical...Also, this is just a practical use here, Sheikh could not have commissioned a painting for showing in the lecture nor is he making profit off it nor is it even a significant part of the lecture...but thank you for bringing up

The pope apologized for the Inquisition to Jews, but NOT to Muslims! We must demand an apology. Also banning the derogatory "Mata Moro" {Kill Moors or Muslims). It is the surname of some people including names of towns. A town Mata Moro in Mexico holds an annual festival where crusader horse riders and Muslim prisoners are enacted.

I used to say as you say but I don’t anymore. We don’t want an apology from them. As Muslims, we believe in Allah’s promise and that the martyrs are with their Lord. We have to show the beauty and the magnanimity of Islam, such that people may come into it afwajan. Also, Islam is not ‘only’ the deen of mercy but it is also of ‘izza / might and honor. I don’t expect or want an apology from the Zionists. I would rather they come to Islam and tawhid. However you do have a point, how can the Catholic Church claim to be friends with us now, whilst still refusing to apologize or change? But if they don’t want to change, then to demand an apology would be the weak route. The higher route I think is to become true Muslims and show people the deen. And to be more proactive in da’wah because you would be very surprised at how responsive many people are, especially the younger. Regarding Mexican people by the way a lot of them are coming to Islam. I think the da’wah should be supported more and Spanish fluent teachers should travel there to teach them but nevertheless I know many converts from their people alhamdulillah.
