I need you to fully watch this video, pay close attention to the noise the fan makes and how much air it moves based on the rumbling from your speakers, then close your eyes & ears for this one. Forget everything you know about this fan and imagine you're in this room, sitting under it. Feel the breeze as it passes you. Now open your ears & listen to the noise in the room. Then open your eyes & look up, see how close the fan is to you. You'll probably be surprised at how much air this fan moves.
You'll probably also think, oh, this fan isn't actually that slouchy! Think again. Add the fact that it's installed a mere 1 Meter above your head and the room is fully closed with no air circulation at all except for the exhaust fans that are struggling to pull in air from closed doors & windows. Heck, the AC wasn't even running in this video.
The point I'm trying to make is, ceiling fans like this isn't actually that bad, IF the room it's used in is enclosed, somewhat cool & the occupants aren't expected to do anything that burns a lot of energy. This would make a decent living room fan, IF your living room only has 2,5 Meter high ceiling & is air conditioned. Put this fan in a small restaurant that only have an open front door for cooling and this thing will guarantee to disappoint you the very second your restaurant sees customers.
Let's also talk about the fact that even if that small restaurant uses a brand new in box National F-EY149, it'll still see frequent use at fourth or full speed. Ceiling fans like this Cosmos move about half as much air as an EY149, meaning the probability of it being set on high all the time is almost 100%. Can you guess what happens if crappy fans like this sees heavy use every day with barely any maintenance?
Yeah I'm probably being a bit too harsh. I've seen, and in fact I have a brand new 56" industrial that's about 70% worse than this thing, but I still can't get over the fact that people buy these things not knowing that the money they just spent will figuratively burn up on their hands in about 5 years & leave them unsatisfied within a week after installation.
