In UK - bag of carrots 500g £0.70, squash £0.80, potatoes £1, greek yoghurt 500 g £1.89 - these are budget stores where there bulk buying is not allowed so that everyone has a chance. Hence the price can be kept low and eating healthy is encouraged! :) Also Brits love taking up vegetable allotments to grow their own produce and the waiting period for such allotments can take up to 3 years!

Don’t be fooled by the number of items. Once you start going into the fruit section, a regular size watermelon costs around $20 and over $10 for a dozen imported bananas. The milk you just saw is in a 1L container meaning for a gallon of milk you are paying $8. Fresh unprocessed foods and ingredients tend to run cheaper than the states but once you start going into the processed food region or food service sector the price skyrockets easily surpassing any US suburbs and close to NYC or Tokyo - while the average income of Koreans is about 60-70% of that American.

America’s prices have been increasing due to inflation (at least in the United States). Of course milk doesn’t cost $40 here, but I’m saying it isn’t cheap lately. Yes, milk is somewhere around $3 a gallon, but by the time you pay tax, it’s closer to $5.
