Looks like prices are much higher in ex-pat and digital nomad focused areas. While still cheaper than US, some of those number were pretty high for Thailand.
Yes you can rent cheaper places. In parts of Bangkok a little further from the center, you can rent an entire multi-story house for $500. I prefer the high rise condos in the center and am okay paying around the same for a 1 bedroom apartment. Moreover, OP is renting an Airbnb and paying expected rates.
Indeed you can live more cheaply in Bangkok. My takeaway from the video was that you can live with a high standard of living, at an affordable price and get by without a car and don’t have to speak Thai. Jim mentioned others live in that general area for less rent. It’s always cheaper away from the center. I thought it was a helpful video.
I have visited Pattaya many times which is about an hour and a half from Bangkok. I have rented a nice place there close to everything for about $300 USD.
I lived for a lot less than $1,800 per month. I had a brand new house for 17,500 baht a month. (Bank Payment) (in a gated community Ramkhapagen 118) My water bill per month was $3.00, electric bill was about 1,500 baht. I ate on the street a lot ad loved it. Kow Phat ($1.25 US dollars) Thailand is a wonderful place to live. I worked there as a teacher and loved my school.
Hello Tom - I want to be Bangkok for several months to assess living there permanently. I like the area you mentioned. Ok to contact you for more information. I am from the Minneapolis suburb. Thanks!
Great channel! I’m not sure if you read these Jim, but I thought I was the only Kellett around. How funny that I found your channel. I wonder if we are related some how. Take care and keep up the good work!
I like to take buses randomly to go anywhere hahaha so that I can see different parts of the city. Then I just "Uber" back home ;-p The food prices there are SOOOOO cheap and so good!
I visited Bangkok for 1 month a couple of years ago and loved the city! What do you think of getting dental work there like implants? I've seen your video on dentistry in Mexico.
Richard P, I haven't researched dental in Bangkok but I think you are likely to find some very good dentists there at a good price. Maybe I will try to cover it in the future.
Why rent on a weekly basis in an apartment building if you can rent for anout 24-45dollars a night in a hotel? According to your pther video 😅 wouldnt it make more sekse to either rekt for a month or just get a hotel? Curious to know. Cheers!
Food looked good, but you can eat for 1/3 of that price & coffee 35 baht. Foreigners pay thru the nose for coffee. Thai venders must have a good laugh about that. You are paying farang prices, including your apartment.
He is, but if he's making big money from RU-vid I'm sure that's very cheap in his mind. Some of these RU-vid vloggers make over $100,000 USD a year and it's a great scam.
@@elizabethapfelbaum1240 Covid was in France too. But they had 40% of visitors ALREADY in 2022, compared to 2019 😁😁😁 Same with many other countries. Except THAILAND ❎❎❎❎
If you're a real cheap skate and penny pincher by nature $800 a month is doable. Most people will be $1000-1500 unless you're on a fat pension and can live like a king there $2000-$3000 month.
