A very helpful video for those thinking of moving to the area - we especially liked hearing about the cost for medical treatment. We're already looking forward to your upcoming road trip!
We would want something similar to your apartment but I do worry about only having one bath or more specifically 1 toilet. All of the stories about workers like repair men kind of showing up when they feel like it, often days later. I know, a weird thing to worry about. We are heading to the mountains because we love cool weather and it eliminates having a big air con bill. Our research suggests we will spend $1200-$1400/month max for us and our 3 senior dogs. No car…don’t want one. Love your videos !
Thanks, I know that neighborhood just by looking at the pool. Thats where I want to retire in 18 months. I like the idea of gated plus pool. I’m glad to hear you like it there since you are the first I know of living there.
@@TheDawnandGregShow Also, I saw that Greg has ATT service for his phone. Do you know what speed you are getting there in your neighbored only for the ATT data service on your phone if you did a speedtest? Reason I ask is because I’ll be renting an airbnb there early august and want to be sure my ATT hotspot is fast enough to be able to work. Thanks.
I can get anywhere between 12-25 GB here with ATT. Telcel is about the same Att works really well all over Mexico. We just got back from a road trip where we were out exploring the jungle and had good service almost all of the time
@@TheDawnandGregShow Thank you so much! I think you meant to say mbps(mega bits per second) not GB. That helps a lot since if the airbnb’s wifi happens to not be fast enough, I’ve got the ATT hotspot(unlimited data) available to me as a backup. 👍
@@DeepScubaDiver Yes that’s what I meant to say. I have definitely had to use my hotspot many times because of slow internet speeds in the places we have stayed
@@TheDawnandGregShow Sweet! I was there in late November/early December and it was fracking cloudy and cool almost daily!!! BTW - Do not get in a collision down there. LOL. I can share with you the tale of insanity that my American Airbnb-host and his Mexican gf went through when their vehicle got totaled. He had paid for the most expensive Mexican insurance with a premium for English-speaking service. It was a nightmare of bureaucracy.
Love your video. You keep mentioning that you love the neighborhood, what community in Colonia are you living in. I understand that there are about 8 different communities to select from so please help me narrow that down since I am planning an exploratory trip to PM in the fall. Thanks
Hello sir. Thank you for watching. Send me a private message on our email and I will give you more information. Can even get you in touch with a leasing agent 🙏🏻
you guys are so authentic on these shares. Thanks for that. Headed that way again in 9 days with another American, thinking about the move. You've become a resource in my library and i'm grateful.... buy you a beer if we cross paths.
Thank you so much!! We love the idea that we might actually be helping someone with our videos. Please let us know if we can answer any more questions for you, and we would love to meet up. Safe travels my friend.🙏🏻
Congrats on growing your channel! Muy Bueno Can you tell us different communities to check out? We are looking to move to PM in the near future. Checking out different communities on the La Colonia side also!
Hola Patricia!!! Muchas gracias!!! It really depends on what you are looking for, there are so many great neighborhoods in PM. Residencial El Faro and Selva Escondida are really popular on La Colonia side. We highly recommend watching RickRack Travels video on this topic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4EMAq2RVfYo.html Tell Ricky and Raquel Hi! :)
You will love it. I was just in a USA bookstore chain called Barnes & Noble. I went to the Travel section and even the guides specific to The Riviera Maya failed to mention P.M.; which is great news. I saw chapters on Isla Holbox (an island at the very top of Quintana Roo) - another laid back spot - but not even a blurb on Puerto Morelos.
Great stuff Dawn and Greg! I heard electronics were more in Mexico. Did you buy a Mexican cell phone down there or did you just swap sim cards to your existing phones? We will be there end of January, I'll do better than buy you a coffee, I'll take you out for lunch or dinner.
YES!! Electronics are way more expensive here. We kept our phones, they were unlocked and switched SIM cards. Very cool, if we are still here, we would love that! :)
Hey guys! I'm an avid watcher, with a 2 year timeliness to make my move to Puerto. Can't wsit!! I'll be there on October 6th. Hope I run across you. I'll buy the tacos and cervesas 🙃 Couldn't locate where you linked the info about teaching English. Can you comment how you got started, or which company you work with? I'd like to supplement with this endeavor myself! Thanks in advance, and peace! Hasta la proxima
Hello Elaine thanks for watching. Ok so the company we use is Cambly. We both have our TEFL certificates and its a very simple process to get started. Now a lot of the online teaching companies require degrees, but Cambly doesn't. If you do have a degree it will open up many more opportunities for you. Basically fill out the application online make a quick little video of you "selling" yourself to the students and that's about it. Because you are basically a tutor and not an actual teacher. You can make your own schedule and its really easy. If you have any more questions please ask.🙏🏻
Hi guys - love the videos! I'm coming down in Feb 2022 with my little dog. Wondering how hard it is to find potty areas for the dog and how hard/easy is it to have your dog with you (mine goes everywhere with me).
Mexico is such a dog friendly country people absolutely love their dogs downs here!! Finding a potty place is not a problem. Your dog will be welcomed just about any where you go here. Also finding a place to rent that accepts dog shouldn't be a problem either. There are a few places around town that even put out food and water for all of the strays.Hope this helps you and if theres anything we can do to help please ask🙏🏻
Loved your video you both seem to be very humble wonderful folks. My wife and I have been going to Playa Del Carmen area for about ten years ,would really like to retire in Puerto Morelos for the winter months ,it gets cold in Canada, unfortunately my wife has to return every 4 weeks for treatment and that makes it too exspensive for us.The good thing is we can still make it down a couple of times ayear in the winter so we feel blesseAnyways enjoy your time in Paradise wishing you all the best.
Thank you for your kinds words we so appreciate it. We absolutely love playa and always enjoy spending time there. We too wish you the best and will pray for your wife wellness🙏🏻
I love these videos and my wife and I would love to at least plan to spend 3-6 months a year down there in retirement. However, we are still a long way from that and I assume there are going to be a lot of changes in 20-25 years in the US and the Riviera Maya!
Congrats on getting 250 subs now! 🙂 It was interesting to hear about the cost of living over there since it's something we definitely want to do one day. What's the cost of hotels in the area? Is it similar to renting a place?
Open Question for the entire D&G Show fanclub (not Teenage Fanclub - great band though )here: What would you pay per hour/per day for nanny-help down there? I've seen vast swaths of Hourly rates for Mexico, anywhere from $51 MXN to $81 MXN an hour. I am assuming these are mainly driven by Mexico City costs of living. I'm asking because I have a lady friend in Puerto Morelos who is not a professional nanny but she was/is a mother of 4 and she is willing to hangout with me and my 7 year old daughter. I need some auxiliary child-minding help due to some physical limitations of mine. I was thinking of just giving her $20 USD a day (figuring a day would = 5 hours). I would provide the transport between la colonia and porto and cover whatever expenses we incur whether at a beach club or an excursion to surrounding areas (i.e. the zoo). Cheers!
Great info! Do you have your temporary residency? I've heard you can't drive if you don't have one. Did you drive there? I've also heard you can ship your car. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for the questions. So currently do not have Temp residency and you can bring your own car in and drive where ever you want. You will have to Mexican car insurance and register your car the border to get a TIP temporary import permit and pay a deposit. This permit is only good for as long as your visa is which means that if you have either 30 days or 180 days you will have to take your car back to border when you reset your visa and your TIP at the same time. If you do not you will lose you deposit and possibly pay a fine. The process of getting your car into Mexico is really simple. Hope this helps
It's called pick heavy things up and put them down. Take a few 10-minute walks daily. Let food be thy medicine. Do some fasting either intermittently or extended. Trust me it does wonders. Personally I am an animal kingdom based eater with a very narrow and select foods from the plant kingdom but whatever whole foods dietary strategy works for you, just get off all the industrial garbage oils, foods and drinks.
now your almost at 1k subs, im getting close to. My girlfriend & i are thinking of going there thats why iam watching this video. I subscribed to your channel
Hey Joe thanks so much for watching and subscribing we so appreciate it!! You will love PM its a wonderful place. Please let us know if we can answer any questions for you. Have a great day🙏🏻
@@TheDawnandGregShow there’s a resort style condo & townhome being built which we like that’s about 3 kms from the beach. We may visit summer to fall time
Hey Mark thanks for watching. Great question so there are so many factors to consider. We would personally perhaps rent for a month to see which area of town best fits your needs and what type lifestyle you wanted to live. Please let us know if you have any more questions or if you need a leasing agent for renting. Have a great day🙏🏻
Hello Ann thank you for the question. Dawn and I do not carry any insurance for ourselves. We don't spend much time at all going to the doctors office, but if we do we pay out of pocket. Health care in Mexico is extremely affordable especially considering we come from the US. Thank you for watching and if you have any other questions feel free to ask🙏🏻
Hello sir the subdivision we lived in is El Faro. We absolutely loved it there and we are certain that its safe for adults and children. Hope this helps have a great day.
Hello sir thank you for watching. Unfortunately we won't be able to help you out with that question because we absolutely no experience with this type of thing. Hope you are having a great day!!
Hey Raymond hope you are having a great day. So we use BestMex Auto Insurance and we are paying 228.0 for one year thats 19 dollars a month. We entered into Mexico in Mc Allen, Tx and basically followed the Gulf coast all the way to PM. Its pretty simple and straight forward. However the road conditions can be absolutely horrendous with tolls up to 50 dollars a day. You will need to stop at the border for your passport stamp and your TIP "Temporary Import Permit" which will cost around 400 dollars, but you will get it back if you do not over stay your visa dates. Hope this helps🙏🏻
Hola!! That’s awesome we loved living on the La colonia side. If you need any leasing agent information we can give you a couple of names. Have a great day
@@cecilewhite1897 Thank you so much for watching we really appreciate it. So it’s best if you email us and we can give the contact information there. It’s thedawnandgregshow@gmail.com
We were just in Puerto Morelos and there were like 3 roads running parallel to the beach and it didn't take long to ride a bike from one end of town to the other. Are you on the east side (towards Cancun) or the West side of the square? are you on the 3rd road back from the beach? What were the major cities you drove thru to get down to Puerto Morelos and was it a huge hassle to do that?
Howdy sir. We actually lived in the Colonia side of PM. We traveled from Mcallen Tx to PM. We took the most simplest route down the coast into Merida and then on to PM. The only problems we encountered were the road conditions and the tolls. The road conditions are absolutely terrible on this route and the tolls can be anywhere from 40 to 60 dollars a day. We never drove at night and we always took the toll roads for safety. We made stops in Tampico, Veracruz, Campeche and Merida . Hopes this helps
@@TheDawnandGregShow Yes it does thanks. I think if we decide on PM we will forego a car. I guess I don't understand what you mean by Colonia side. Is that the other town that is a mile and a half inland from Puerto?
Hello Derrick thanks for the question. We have been back in the states for a while and have not been putting out any new videos, but we do have plans in the near future to start spending time in Mexico again and will be starting the channel up again. Thanks and have a great day
@@psnowacka4878 ok my friend so we have two names for you. Ivan Ramos +52 998 154 0359 and Gladys +52 998 241 7080 You can reach both of them on Whats App. They are both very reliable and friendly and speak good English. Hope this helps🙏🏻
Cost of living in P.M. depends a lot on whether you get an honest landlord or not. We did not. Our landlord Juan Carlos was a cheat and a liar. We lost several hundred dollars which mostly nullified the lower cost of living we were hoping to enjoy in P.M.
@@TheDawnandGregShow Will be visiting Cancun/Puerto Morelos/Tulum area pretty soon. My wife is a little apprehensive. She will be very glad to hear that!! Thanks!
I think you guys are great I been in Merida for 10 weeks and know all the Mexican you tubers, you guys are doing it right good overall content informative and just be yourselves and try to not follow the typical Mex/you tuber mix keep it HONEST and not just say how great Mexico is because simply we both know that Mexico can be great I love it but also has many problems so just try to strike a balance of what Mexico really is and don't just sell out your channel by doing typical formula because you want to grow potentially make some money but really guys think out of the box and make some real honest informative vids that may not be so popular but that you can feel good about...just gonna say so many formulaic bullshit Mexican you tubers.
Wow!! Thank you for your kind words. We have always wanted to just try and be as natural as we can. We are definitely learning and growing in this thing. Thank you for watching🙏🏻
Hello and thanks for reaching out. We are currently in Texas. However we will be back in PM in October for the winter and will be firing back up the channel.
Hello Carla, unfortunately we do not remember. However the signal was absolutely dismal . Somedays it was practically nonexistent. We had wireless so we would highly recommend finding a company the that will be hardlined into the house
