How much does it cost to own a used Maserati Ghibli? In today’s video I go over my monthly expenses on my 2017 Maserati Ghibli that I purchased in early 2021. I’ll go over the car payments, the insurance cost, the expense on gas, and just give a general review of my thoughts on the car and if this would be a good choice for your next car.
If you have any other questions, leave them in the comments below and I’ll do my best to get back to you. Thanks for watching!

I own a 2009 Lexus IS 250 and I like it. Solid car. Fully paid and no car payment. Someone owns a Ghibli in my apartment and he’s Parked 3 spaces away from me. I love the sound of the Maserati when he starts it. I thought about getting rid of my Lexus for a used Maserati but at the same time the Lexus has been very reliable for me. You said 10 miles per gallon in this video and now I am leaning more towards keeping the Lexus IS now. Damn that Maserati drinks fuel.
@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT 2 года назад
Some people get pretty decent mileage out of them, I drive Sport/Manual so I’m not really one of them (7-10mpg, but it’s been as high as 15+ in that mode). That being said, they’re definitely thirsty either way (unless in ICE/Normal/Automatic) but that’s to be expected. If the gas prices are problematic for you it’s probably not the best consideration. That being said, I absolutely love the car. I’m going to do a year of ownership review soon (maybe next month?) and go over the entire costs for the year. Reliability for these cars can be hit or miss too, but so far mine’s been great. Hoping it remains to be.

I usually only drive it manual. In anything else it has a tendency to short-shift and it'll shift every time it gets in the 1.5-2k RPM range or so.

I'm getting avrage combined of 24.6 mpg in normal mode with cruze set at 70 I get 41 mpg in sport 36 mpg after 200 miles in both modes and city driving it got an average of 25 mpg now I do have a heavy foot and like manual shift and I do like to go over 150 mph that's when I get 5 mpg until I let it just rest on the gas without moving that even at 110 mph it gets 27 mph so not sure where you are getting 7 mph from but that's nuts my b.w 335 twin scroll turbo only gets 25 highway avrage with city 16 mpg
@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT Год назад
Yeah, not sure.. I drive mostly city miles if anything so it might be a mix of that and letting it rev high. On mostly highway I can average around 20 or so, but very very rarely will I get 25+. I think the only time I ever have has been when I drove in ICE mode.

Wow, really? That's seriously good mileage. Are you driving in Sport/Manual or Normal/Automatic? I get the best mileage when it's on Normal/Automatic or ICE (even then it's only like 22-25mpg), but I prefer not to drive in those modes.

Looking at a 2020 with 26K miles for 40K. I am paying cash though just was concerned about the maintenance. I had a 3 series that was a money pit. Sounds it up there with my corsa on my vintage vette.
@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT 3 месяца назад
Honestly, maintenance is not bad at all. Again, depends on what you get though - assuming all is good and the car isn’t a lemon you’ll be fine. Usually it’s no more than $600/year. 40k mile service was about $4k from what I remember, but that was the most expensive one I’ve had done for it.

@CarsLifeYT Год назад
57mpg?! Sounds like a dream haha. At the top-end on the highway I’ll occasionally get 24mpg, but that’s really about as high as it goes. I do a lot of city driving and my mpg is generally in the 10-12 range.

If you let it short-shift on D, the low RPMs will get you way better mileage. If this route on the video was done on D instead of manual, you’d see 16 to 18MPG for sure. If you drive it on Sport and Manual you’re clearly prioritizing performance and not economy.
@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT Год назад
The route in this video is what I drive daily to get to my gym. There’s usually some stop & go and 7 different lights on the short ~8 minute drive. I’ve driven it in automatic before and it’s usually the same at around 12mpg or so. On the highway this car does much better and I actually see it closer to 20-22mpg even in manual.
@cathol1c778

Instead of paying 40k for a 2018 Kia stinger gt2 awd, definitely worth to pay 47k on a 2018 ghibli.
@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT 2 года назад
In my opinion, yeah. But it’s a personal opinion and depends on if you have the finances for anything that might happen to the Maserati. The Kia is going to have better mileage but it’s going to lose on looks, sound, and speed.

@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT 2 года назад
@@animuxhm2509 That's fair, I'm mostly going based on horsepower. These 2017 Ghibli S Q4s have about 40 more compared to the 2022 Stinger. 2022 Ghiblis can have as much as 200+ more.
@animuxhm2509
@animuxhm2509 2 года назад
@@CarsLifeYT hmmm.. That's subjective du.🤔. I mean, the ghibli is much heavier. I believe it at around 6000+ while the stinger is at 4000+(gross weight). I'm no expert, but I had seen multiple videos between this 2 cars. Impressive that both are evenly match🤔. More HP and Torque does help the Ghibli. P.s Love the Ghibli, yet i'm afraid of its liability 🤣.
@CarsLifeYT
@CarsLifeYT 2 года назад
@@animuxhm2509 Yeah, Ghibli is slightly heavier. Think there’s about a 300lb difference in curb weight. Ultimately it’s going to depend on the driver in most race scenarios, I think. Hahaha, true! For what it’s worth, my Ghibli has gone up in value since I bought it. Not the case for everyone but that’s part of the gamble with exotics. I don’t put much mileage on it either which helps with the value.
