In this video titled "Costa Rica Starlink - Best Internet in Costa Rica"
Allen from "Off The Grid Homestead Costa Rica" will talk all about Starlink.
When will Starlink arrive in Costa Rica?
How much does Starlink Cost in Costa Rica?
How fast will Starlink be in Costa Rica?
Does Starlink have a contract?
One of the greatest hurdles to overcome while living in Costa Rica has always been getting internet.
While Costa Rica has made some big improvements to their internet infrastructure, it is still lacking in a very big way!
Costa Rica...simply does NOT care and does not think the internet is important.
As long as you live in a decent-sized town or in a tourist area... then you can get decent internet. But even if you live near a tourist area...Costa Rica still has a LOT of dead zones!
Today, Allen has some GREAT NEWS for you! He has been waiting almost 3 years...so now, let's find out when Starlink will arrive in Costa Rica?
Allen and Rebecca have lived in Costa Rica since Nov 2013 and have lived in over 25 different places all over Costa Rica in order to find the perfect slice of paradise.
We know Costa Rica better than anybody because we didn't just visit those places; we lived in those places for at least three months and explored the area!
We give you the FACTS based on our perspective of Living in Costa Rica!

We just installed our Starlink in Belen, great reception, stable coverage, decent speeds. We had not had any interruptions yet. Installation was extremely easy and had signal in a couple of minutes. Did the software update in about 5 minutes and it’s been great so far. I have measured anywhere from 36 to 210mbps, with a low latency of 46ms. Even with our VPN it feels fast and responsive as well as stable. I am now going to get a UPS so I can keep service during (frequent and common) blackouts as well as protect my Starlink from power spikes. Overall very happy and satisfied 👍🏽👍🏽
@ourme2
@ourme2 9 месяцев назад
Also, the supplied Starlink modem/router is as good or better than most commercial routers I’ve tried, it’s signal penetrates concrete walls and ceilings in our 2 story house, and signal is nice and strong throughout the house without needing a range extender/repeater
@OffTheGridHomesteadCostaRica

That is a very good idea. Before I got on solar, I always had a UPS on my internet so that it would not constantly have to restart. Costa Rica has a lot of electricity blinks.

Got one as well - it is game changing! 250Mbps, really good quality connection, unlimited download. No other local provider gives all three of those features in the same package for that price. Either there is a monthly data cap which doesn't work for security cameras, or the speed is low, or the speed is good and quality is good but there is a monthly data cap. Starlink is the new Netflix vs blockbuster.

Thanks for you comment, and YES, having Starlink for a Tico...does NOT make sense! That is because YOU (as a Tico) live in town. A Gringo does NOT want to live in town and even being a few kilometers away from town... there is NO internet. So, Starlink is perfect for the gringo who does NOT want to live in town or in a touristy area. I will be showing download and upload speeds soon, when my starlink equipment arrvies.

after 6 years working from home from different places around the country for an american company I can say yes I had some issues with internet but very little ones maybe internet gone for 20 minutes or so once in a while but internet here is very stable most of people i know (I'm costarican) have +100mb at home with service providers like Kolbi, Claro, Liberty, etc, there's some options depending on where you live maybe try asking your neighbors 😁 Starlink sucks this service is more expensive and slower than the regular ones, this is only good if that's your only option. -3:49 about having a supervisor taking pictures 24/7 not all costaricans like stealing 😢 you will be surprised how many good people you can find here, maybe what you can do is try to contact a well known company or a person with good recommendations and maybe paying half at the beginning and half at the end or something like that. -Really sorry to hear you had some bad experiences here really hope you're better now. Thanks for sharing your experience with the internet and YES, if you live in town or near a touristy area... anyone can get 100 mb down. But, while I do NOT know exactly where you live, (you are a tico) Most of the Foreigners that come to Costa Rica do NOT want to live in town. Most want to live in rural areas...in the country to enjoy wildlife, Away from the noise of the town. So YES, so many places in Costa Rica have terrible internet. I'm sure, YOU haven't experience that because YOU live in town and that is OK, if that is what you want. And as far as builders....You will NOT experience that either, because Tico builders KNOW you don't have a LOT of money so you will NOT get overcharged. I know from experience...if a foreigner does NOT have a supervisor on site...MOST of the time, they will be overcharged. I am sure Costa Rica has some honest companies, but we KNOW those are very few and hard to find. MOST companies...see a gringo and they ONLY thing they see are $dollar $igns) But I appreciate your feedback and sharing your perspective.

Well, I live in Monteverde, very close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and none of those companies you have mentioned are interested to bring fiber optic. ICE just want me to stay with the bad DSL connection. At least Claro installed an antenna about 800m of my home, but this service is not unlimited, it's 150gb but it's a way better than Kolbi DSL service. If I have the opportunity, I will order Starlink. I don't really care about national companies that don't care customers

Greetings, Allen I recently discovered your channel while researching Starlink service in CR; excellent content! Do you have any advice or recommendations regarding a reliable location in CR for picking up the unit? My wife and I have a 2nd home north of La Fortuna, but in a remote area where the address can get a bit confusing to receive packages, etc. I am currently in the US and will return in mid-December and wanted to order now, but have reservations. If I were to purchase while in the US and bring it back to CR, then I would incur a higher equipment cost, which may be what I'll end up doing unless I can provide a reliable address/location. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

The important thing here is to understand. Starlink will NOT send to a Post office box. If you do NOT have a good address for your house, then go to a restaurant that you frequent a lot and ask them if you can send a package to their address. The biggest challenge in getting any product to your house is KNOWING YOUR ADDRESS! Because Costa Rica is a 3rd world country, their address system is way behind.
