COSTCO Kids Kraft Playset and Base condition after 2 years - I made some mistakes?!

Lets see if I have any regrets or mistakes on the Kids Kraft playset installation from Costco. After 2 years let's see how the rubber nugget base, border and the overall playset is holding up! What should you put around your playset and how to keep it cheap? I choose to use rubber mulch and treated lumber to create my base. I think this is the best option for both safety and value. The rubber mulch is a little pricy, but it is rated very well for protection against high fall heights. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the update! About to start on mine. I like the 4x6 border. Was also considering railroad ties.

Thanks! I just pulled the trigger on a Kidkraft Creative Cove set on sale here for the grandkids. We moved in November and left the old set behind for the new owners… seems like a sturdy build, glad to see it! I am worried about the grandkids tossing rubber mulch everywhere…. Hmm. Looks great though!

I have the same one. Got rid of the crows nest because it'll block my kid from going under the slide as he gets taller, and I didn't rest the whole thing on the ground. I have cinder blocks slightly above ground to avoid moisture) and then anchored them to the ground qith 18inch anchors

Good feedback, I can see how that can be a problem for the kids to get around. Thanks for stopping in!

hi. thanks for the video. i am in the process of installing mine just like yours. did you drive/drill in the metal stakes into the ground which are attached to the base of the playground? mine is being installed on top of the concrete and i’m not able to drive in the stakes to the ground, so i’m wondering if it will be safe from tipping over.

Hey thanks for stopping in! I've would advise you use some type of fastner to hold it down and in place. A simple bracket and tapcon in the concrete would be better than nothing.

Not bad after 2 years. We just bought one for my kids for Christmas. How much mulch did you have to purchase and how deep did you fill the ground?

Just double check the bags Costco has a different brand so you need slightly less for this area. I needed roughly130 bags for 24x28 of their brand

@@k6outdoors well just so you know the same storm had the power out for three full days and nights and had knocked over up to 26 phone poles so it was very very strong storm but I don't know I don't think it reached a hundred miles per hour winds

@@Crazychris-tel the derecho we experienced (which is an inland hurricane) was as a well documented event that came through eastern Iowa in 2020. Our area saw upwards of 90-100 mph and 30 miles north saw wind speeds topping 130 mph. Not sure I can explain why it stayed up other than the wind direction but it withstood it. Here is an article for you, www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2020/10/17/iowa-derecho-damage-cost/
