I've been stocking up on the Sam's Club canned meat. It tastes really good. I mix it with rice, and what ever sauce I have with some veggies. Makes up a easy meal for us.

The best value is to buy the meat and pressure can it yourself. No added ingredients or preservatives.

I also looked into that canned meat…Keystone 28oz. Someone in the Amazon reviews drained the broth off the canned hamburger and it was one pound of actual meat. I can purchase Costco 88/12 hamburger and can it myself for about half the price.

Hello 2jedismom, That's a lot of water/broth! I have not checked the Keystone meats yet, but I hope to do so in the coming weeks. Canning your own is a good idea and cost effective. We do some canning to and hope to do a lot more.

Thank you for your video. A new one pound can of Maple Leaf Ham was cooked up and it had at least 1/3 cup of liquid. I remember we had to shake the meat out of those can and there may have been a little gel stuck to the meat but never liquid. Keep up the great work and good luck.

I love these comparison videos! I’m so bad at math, I appreciate you taking the time to do it for me! It took me two days to figure out if the pasta I was considering buying at Dollar Tree was as a better deal than what I normally buy from Walmart! (Columbia penne for $1.25 for 20 oz vs Great Value spaghetti for $.89 for 16 oz). The penne was ever so slightly more per ounce than the spaghetti but I felt like it was worth it so I bought 10 boxes of it! Lol!

Here's a primary wayI long term store beef. Yes it does require an investment in appliances, but I find it worth it. I buy bulk ground beef when I can find it. This method also works when the local salvage grocery store has one lb packages of pork sausage for a buck to a buck and a half each. I know you don't eat pork, it is just one of the things I do. This last week Meijer had eightly-twenty burger for a final price of three dollars a lb, Aldi had their seventy three-twenty seven burger five lbs for ten bucks. I did a total of sixty lbs this last week. To start I cook the meat in a crock pot on low, my seven quart pots hold about ten lbs. After cooking, i break it into crumbles and dry it in an Excalibur dehydrator. When dry I vacuum seal the result in Mylar bags and put them in a five gallon bucket with a Gamma resealable lid. The machine I use is a Vevor vacuum chamber sealer. It costs about twice to three times the cost of a food saver and is basically an industrial level of machine. The main drawbacks for the standard food saver machine include a relatives short useful life, I've gone through several before giving up. Another is the cost of the bags, the vacuum chamber machine can use any bag, in bulk bags for the vacuum chamber sealer are five to ten cents each. Even the bulk Mylar bags are cheaper than the food saver rolls. This cost adds up pretty quickly, given how much I use it, after a year I figure that I'm about even in cost. The Vevor will seal liquids and powders as it doesn't draw the air out of the bag, it just creates a vacuum in the chamber where the bag is placed. I can do Mylar because the sealing time is adjustable, where the standard give a certain set seal time. I also use it to keep meats longer in the refrigerator, vacuumed sealed meat stays good about two to three times as long as in the original packaging.

I live 150 miles from Costco and 80 miles from Sam's Club. Driving to either is not cost effective. Costco has a lot more grocery products they will ship and free ship on $75. Sam's wants a plus membership for free ship. Super Walmart is 8 miles. Neither Sam's or Costco had roast beef. I also shop Amazon and compare prices. Costco has a 12 pack of 7 oz cans Chicken of the Sea Tuna for $20. Just compared and there was more tuna in 1 7 oz can than 2 5 oz cans of Starkist which had lots of liquid and small flakes. The Chicken of the Sea was chunky.

Hello Kfsrmn. That's a pretty far distance! Our closest Cosco and Sam's is also right at 80 miles away. We have to travel a lot so we still go to them sometimes when we are in the area. Good information to know about the cans of Tuna. Thank you for watching and sharing!

@@ChefPrepper here we have a variety but the Aldi spiced ham has quickly become a staple , i had some from 6 years back and cooked it up and it was great ,i much prefer it to regular hormel spam , the local supermarket house brand is ok , a name brand Plumrose is very good as well our favourite from the spam line is turkey spam over the other flavours , i've not had a long term trial on this as its only been available the past 4-5 years here and its not cheap $6 AUD compared to the $3 of the aldi or or clones , but we watch the sales and buy $50 worth when cheap , thanks again for all your videos , we enjoy them a lot and share with our friends here
