Great video, as always, Jess and Justin. I got a small Ecoflow River mini, based on reviews from @AmbitionStrikes, just to get used to the "gas can for electricity" concept (love it). Just curious: Do you think you might switch to an EV for your tow-vehicle one day? I know the range drops significantly, and charging networks (time) aren't quite mainstream yet. But I'd love to be able to RV mostly off-grid one day.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😊 We would LOVE to tow with an EV, but the charging network just isn't where it needs to be (for us) yet. This year, we've got plans to take our alto to some very remote regions of North America, and there's just not places to plug in. If we camped exclusively at paid campgrounds with full electrical hookups, it might work out because we could charge our tow vehicle overnight, but we almost exclusively camp on free land (BML, DNR, F&W, NP, NF, etc.). I'm dreaming of the day when EVs can get a thousand miles of range (while towing). One day I hope 🤞

Another great video, Jess & Justin! So helpful. Would definitely appreciate a video on how you stay connected to the Internet while out on the road. Thanks!

WHAT?!!! You didn’t make any charge controller modifications? The charge controller is initially set up for the AGM battery and the charging constraints are different for Li battery.

Good catch! It's been over a year since we swapped it out and I forgot we had to update the charger's parameters. Thanks for jogging our memory! While I have 16kw lifeo4 battery, 2200 watts solar, 5kw grid tie hybrid inverter that can charge the batteries of caravan from solar, export excess to home, can use home solar in too cloudy days to charge batteries, , can run the caravan for 5 days without any solar if is too cloudy,do all induction cooking, heating, cooling, lighting and using 3.5kwh per day, when parked at home, it takes care of the home load too, making the house completely off grid too in addition to the off grid caravan. It cost me 3000 Australian dollars only.

Wow, that sounds like an incredible setup! And pretty affordable too. I really love that you can power your house off of your RV when it's parked. Kind of like a mobile power station.

Another great video. Thanks for the great info. We have a R1713 on order (fall ‘24 delivery) and I an considering skipping the factory AC to gain the storage locker and getting a Ecoflow Wave2 AC instead since it will run fur 6-8 hours on the Delta Pro battery and you have all the benefits of the power storage for the other uses you pointed out when the AC is not needed. Any thoughts on this strategy?

Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching. It's funny you ask, EcoFlow reached out to see if we'd like to test the Wave2. I'd love to, but not sure how we're going to route the exhaust ducts to the outside. I may need to create a plywood panel with cutouts that's specifically fitted to one of the basement doors on the alto. I'm still taking measurements to make sure that'll all work. Let me know if you have any other good ideas. It'd be great if it worked because the Wave2 is a LOT more efficient than the AC units that are installed in the altos at the factory.
@WebbydooVT
@WebbydooVT Год назад
@@JustinandJess Thanks for the reply and info. It is helpful to know that the efficiency of the Wave2 is better than the factory AC and that we can also reclaim that locker space as a result. I have wondered about the venting for the exhaust ducts, but since we don't have our trailer yet I haven't put much effort into it. (I think you technically only need to vent 1 for the hot exhaust, and ideally a something for the drain hose but I understand that it can be used with out a drain hose). I did find this Vanlife guy that found a turn-key duct port that he installed into the floor of his van. Not sure I would do that to my Alto, but the parts look like they solve the issue well if you can fine a suitable through-hole location. (here's his video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3qIB_hhTiHk.html ) If you figure out a solution for the exhaust ducts, please let me know of better yet make a video about it. Happy trails to you and Jess, and stay cool!

I noticed that you seem to travel more with the older R1723 instead of your newer F2114. Is that so, or just old pictures in the vid? After 9 months with the new trailer, any insights?

Hey Michael. Thanks for watching. We definitely travel more with the F2114 and we just wanted to shoot one last video with The R1723 before putting it up for sale (which we did last week). We're working on another video review of the F2114 and hopefully that'll be out shortly!

Do you find that you actually charge up at EV stations? Is that practical price wise vs paying for electricity at a camp ground?
@JustinandJess
@JustinandJess Год назад
It's just an emergency option that's available to us IF we run out of battery and don't want to give up a good camping spot that's shaded. It rarely ever happens, but was nice to have the option. We LOVE not spending money on campgrounds which can get really REALLY expensive. We actually JUST stopped traveling with the Delta Pro now that we have a new trailer (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MGCE6UGDHkI.html) with 400Ah of LiFePO4 onboard.
