Fixing the dock in freezing water, tree cleanup, splitting wood and other chores. What are these bugs? And is that chaga?? Planting some trees to replace the dead ones I cut down
The easy peel bark are white birches. I thought this one was a yellow birch, but taking another look you're right, I don't think this one is that (yellow birch) either :) I think the prospect and excitement of finding chaga clouded my vision!
Well, this was a nice random video suggestion. lol. I clicked on in and instantly recognized Ontario bush. I'm in the Soo...waiting for the rain to stop. hahaha !! Cheers !! I'll leave you a sub. :)
Welcome and thanks for the sub! The weather has been hit and miss here, no shortage of rain so far, especially every time I plan to do some work outside haha
Yes, that's my understanding as well 😉 The weather wasn't cooperating but I'll hop on a ladder next time and see if that's what it is. That's a huge yellow birch and very much alive so fingers crossed 🤞🏼!
"They're midges, non-biting yet intrusive members of the fly family that emerge in the spring after spending the cold months buried in the muck of..." Ontario Lakes. At least that is my guess. I am from Alberta and we get them out here too. Thanks for the post. I have a cabin too but because of health issues it is hard to get out and do the regular chores.
Ahh thanks for the info! They were not biting, just more of a nuisance getting into eyes and ears :) Love Alberta! Such beautiful province, it's been 15+ years since I've been there but hoping to visit again!
