Just before you ice your cake, side strips of wax paper under the edges. Ice the cake and carefully pull the waxed paper out. The bottom of the cake iced and the plate is still clean. The rustic look is still yummy though. Well done.

It definitely depend on the flowers because I've had some almost immediately turn brown where is other have still retained quite a lot of color! I would say your best bet is to use a clear glue, sealant spray, or Mod Podge to coat them in just before they are fully dried out! Also just make sure to keep them clear of super sunny areas so that they don't fade from the light! Hope this helps!

It's just to make sure that there are no clumps in any of the flours or powders. I live in Florida where there is a ton of moisture so often times my baking soda/powder gets very clumped up and if a little bit of it doesn't get mixed properly and you chew on it later in the finished baked good, it is one of the most disgusting things ever lol
