The music, the light, the victorious walk up 18, the scene that was set… am I the only one that was trying not to cry? 😂😭 Such a great game, such a romantic game, and such great videos. Keep up the good work!
Since you asked, I shot a 78 on the Old Course in 2008. Conditions were as good as they get. Made a par at The Road Hole, which will likely be the singularly greatest sports achievement of my life.
@@josephk1798 as a then 11 handicap that played it on a 20* sunny day with calm conditions, it isn't the most difficult course if you can manage your nerves.
I never comment, but the emotion of that par followed by the walk up 18 was palpable. Really felt like I was there with you experiencing it. Sure I’m not the only one. Absolutely superb Erik 👏👏👏
The old course was my first ever links round, played in March on my birthday. Travelled 5 hours stayed the night before for a 730am tee time Got up at 530am as I was way to excited, tee time cancelled due to frost :( Luckily got back on at 1130, so had a wander around town hit the driving range. The winds were 25mph with 40mph gusts, my 150 club into the wind was a 5 iron 🤣 Highlight other than the obvious was hole 13, I hit driver amd a 3 wood and just made the green on a 386 yard par 4, 2 putt par. Then walking up the last the heavens opended felt like I experience it all. Finished the round with an 87 and 40 putts, but somehow went around with the same ball. This is now framed along side my scorecard and course planner Would play it every week if I was closer!!
Thank you for fulfilling the top of my bucket list of courses I wanted to play before I die. I pictured myself playing along side of you and that was sufficient to partially achieving a goal I would never be able to in reality due to age and medical issues. Thank you sincerely! Steve
Congrats! I played it once in June 2017. I birdied the first two and had four on the front nine, got ahead of myself and found every hidden bunker on the back to shoot 78. We were the last group out only thanks to a student agreeing to let my buddy and I join up with he and his dad. I put a nice wedge into 18 in the near dark with some people on the hotel balconies showing me some love. I’ve played some fancy golf courses, I’ve played some famous ones, but nothing compares to this magical place. Enjoy the Open everyone!
Played it this morning in a Medal - all the stands are still up from The Open, which was just awesome. And the walk up the 18th - no standing ovation but hey ho, you can't have everything!
Gotta say, ive seen a lot of break videos and ive never been quite as invested in you making it as this video. The cinematography, the music, the caddy, the course. This is as good as it gets
That was amazing to watch. You had impeccable weather and finishing in the dark made it feel more magical. Huge shout out to whoever picked the music overlays, they were perfect and truly added to the ambiance.
Took my dad with me to St. Andrews and played the Old Course twice, the routing as played today and even more special was playing it in reverse and shooting 1 under on the back nine. A memory I'll never forget as my dad introduced me to the game, so it only seemed fair to have him with me to enjoy the Old Course for the first time.
Been watching this channel for around 3 years now. This was one of my favourites. The music was great throughout, your caddy never put a foot wrong and playing a 4 on last was a guid move.
Fantastic, I was on the edge of my seat, esp when you wanted to hit driver on 18. I was yelling at the laptop too "no hit an iron".well done & thanks for the fantastic entertainment. Well done to Gary too.
Absolutely love this series!! Gives great perspective on to what a “regular” person can shoot on these things. Makes me appreciate the pros that much more. Keep up the great content!
Ya... I'm an amateur but but I haven't 3 putted in 3 years. This dude could leave a 10 footer 5 feet short or blow it 10 feet past. It's apples to couches
Congrats EAL! I’ve never broken 90 yet so you’ve pushed me to go get it done in the next few weeks. I’ve been working hard outside the course and at the local par 3 so I feel ready. Enjoyed the videos
Quality, wholesome, content yet again... Every time you fail to break 90, I learn so much from how Erik approaches the game, but when he does break 90, you can't imagine how happy I am to se it work out! Well done Erik, and well done team for the great framing!
Met you in June of 2019 at St. Andrew's. Went with my dad and got to play the Old Course, then walking to the Dunvegan ran into you and your crew and was able to tell you how much of a fan of your content I was.
starting with the view of the putt on 17 to the finish was sensational. made me nostalgic for something i’ve never even experienced. congrats Eric, and well done team. go on lads
I’ve been following Eric since he started his channel. What a journey to follow him and support his golf business that improves the game of golf. He’s also a sober inspiration.
Erik, not many people could do what you do and not make people jealous. So happy for you and your team, what an incredible experience to get to watch. Thanks for growing the game and being a genuine guy. - Lukey dukey
I love the Old Course and all of St Andrews in fact. Played it about 4 years ago off 12 hcap. Standing on 16th tee I was 2 over par, then doubled 16 and 17. Finished +6, what magical course and place!
What started as an impossible mission ended as an ultimate beauty. Nice illustration of how golf can be. Erik went from excitement to frustration to satisfaction and pure bliss. Wonderful videos, incredible course. Thank you!
Great content again Erik. Played the Old course on my 50th birthday in Feb 2020 just before 'you know what'. Shot 82 in driving wind and rain off a 9 handicap. It was the best golf experience of my life. What a place! Keep up the great work 👍
The man who never keeps score, continues to torture himself chasing hard scores on the hardest courses… and it’s only for OUR enjoyment. God bless you EAL hahaha
What an emotional moment to watch on 18. The narrative of 150 years of golf, the track, the light, and the reverence. Got this ol' mushy heart weepy for a bit.
You didn’t just feel something as you walked up the 18th Eric. You ran up the 18th my friend. Playing this course has been a dream of mine before I even started playing golf. The history. The magic that is St. Andrew’s capitulates it all. A truly beautiful tribute to all that is golf this episode was. Cheers to many more. But I don’t see know you can top this.
Congratulations and Thank You for sharing your experience. Part 1 & 2 was my first time watching and I felt like I was out there grinding with you. Continued Success My Friend.
I absolutely adore these series. Great work all around from the whole crew. And a special thanks to Erik for playing, must be tough with all the cameras around.
My father was a college professor and was on a Sabbatical trip studying archeological sites in Britain and Europe in the 1970's. I was a kid then, and was on that trip with him and my mother. I remember driving in Scotland and seeing a road sign that read "St. Andrew's next exit" (or something like that). We couldn't stop but I remember thinking how cool that was!! I would love to be driving by now; I would DEFINITELY stop and play it! ⛳️🇬🇧 So much history and tradition. Much love and respect (something we all need nowadays!) 💕
Having never played there that walk up the 18th knowing who has come before you is surreal. It might have been the music but it got me emotional. Seeing you achieve your goal makes me love the game so much. Congratulations Erik
Great video! , I played the old course this week. No tour conditions, but shot 90 (being a 14 hcp player). It was a magical experience. Fun the relive the holes via your video. I was equally struggling with the greens...
Absolutely terrific video. I've never played St. Andrews, but I went there and walked the first two holes and watched the terrified golfers tee off---for sure the most nerve-wracking 1st tee ever--and like EAL says, if you can, do it. Magical place.
This some of the coolest content ive seen about golf on youtube!!! Super creative idea and super fun to watch as all players can relate. Keep up the great work love what you are doing with the channel!!! Singed up for email notifications and definitely gonna grab some merch. Last but not least your voice is majestic for commentary lol!!! Hope to meet u someday but if not its a pleasure to watch!!!
This was a thing of beauty. Need to travel north of the border to play the old course at some point in my life. It's on the huge list of courses I'm getting through
Its funny....i was enjoying watching the video and by the end i was cheering for you when you hit 17 green. Ha. Just found your channel and love it. Re-energized me for golf again. Used to be a 2 to 3 handicap but now 7 or 8. Need to start practicing again but would LOVE to sign up for one of these. Thanks for putting the work in on these vids
Great video!! Congrats on the 88. And esp par on 17. Wow!! This course is probably on everyone’s bucket list. I hope to make it there before it’s too late for me.
beautiful. literally the only thing i was sad about was that you didnt give credit to your caddie. humble and great dude who no doubt helped you achieve such a wonderful experience that day! i know you probably thanked him a ton for what he did, but just to see him get credit in the video would have been great!
What a course and great job on breaking 90! The camera work was amazing and that music being played on 18 was giving off the ending scene of Gladiator vibe!
I’m going to St Andrews for university and will get membership to the Old Course, it still feels surreal and I cant wait to spend 4 years playing here.
