Welcome to the longest-running and largest comics convention in the world - Comic-Con in San Diego!
Did you know the first Comic-Con was held almost 50 years ago at the US Grant and now has turned into quite a spectacle 135,000 tickets sold out this year and it brings at least $160 million to the San Diego economy! But could next year be the last Comic Con in America’s Finest City?
The reason? Some hotels have stopped providing Comic-Con with rooms at a discount. The convention contract with San Diego is until 2026. Organizers want to keep the event affordable for its superfans and are open to considering other cities, but artists we talked to want Comic-Con to stay in America’s Finest City, and let's hope it stays in its home city indefinitely.
