This video explores the polarising topic of infrared (IR) photography, reflecting on the freedom it can give a photographer during those looooong summer months where conditions aren't what we'd normally want.
I focus on black and white IR as the false colour versions aren't really my thing. I go on location to Dorset to scout out a new area and take a truly terrible shot (!) before looking at examples that do work well. I also discuss three points that you really do need to know before starting IR photography - it may save you some money and a fair degree of frustration.
I make reference to a course where I learned IR photography - my tutor was Colin Jarvis, feel free to look him up if you are interested. The photographer that first got me thinking about IR photography was Ben Harvey, I've linked his tutorial at the end of the video.
My IR camera is a Canon 6d and the conversion was undertaken by Protech Photograpic.
People tend to either love IR or hate it; I'd be interested to hear your views.
