I had not heard a Barry Manilow song since middle school (1978) Then I was in Panama (the country) in 1988 and this song came on the Panamania radio station at about 3 in the morning and I had never heard it before.

A-mazing. Gave me chills. Barry has the most beautiful voice ever. He considers himself an "ok" piano player, lol. He's brilliant. I loved to watch his hands here. An incredible talent. I went to see him live, front row, every single month from 2008 -2011 as a special treat to myself after a bad divorce. What a ride that was! I met him a few times in Vegas and he's a darling. How I love that man. ❤

The Frederic Chopin Prelude in C Minor is so melodic and always I want to sit by you at the piano and watch up close you playing it. That is one dream I have. Love his music!!! I was a kid listening to my moms records & his always got played!!! He ...I believe... Started out playing piano for Bette Midler! Then went solo singing but still writing songs for others. I hate that Hollywood has made artists feel they have to get plastic surgery to look good! Hollywood & the media has sold us all a bill of goods ...that we need to look 20 yrs old forever!!! Making women & men insecure over their looks! Uh, can we hear a big "Holy Shit!" for this? The Grammy's the other night would come to a halt and then most of the artists would flee if this were thrown in. Why? It's MELODY and TALENT and PROFESSIONALISM. Also, whenever Barry does this with an orchestra freely as possible, he knows he has nothing to prove. I mean, who the hell cares if Beyonce has 32 freaking Grammy's? I'd love it if the music industry brought out the melody-making/melody-singing artists at least on video in those shows. For how amazing this composition is that Barry wrote with assistance from Adrienne Anderson, it never was never considered for a Grammy. It took a disco novelty cut in the later seventies, still with orchestration and plenty of cleverness, to win a Grammy. Dance cuts were made out of "Could It Be Magic" all over the place. The Chopin Prelude in C Minor was written as a funeral procession and was used as such. (Back when I was an 11 year old I knew the old organist at the church I attended played Chopin's piece all the time before any funeral Mass. -What do you think I used to run to the priest presiding and say because I was a nerd and a misfit serving the funerals as an altar boy? "Monsignor, why is Bronus playing Barry Manilow's song?" "I know what you're talking about," he said one and patted my shoulder, "Barry Manilow used it differently for his own song. You listen to your mom's or your dad's records a lot don't you, Christopher?" "No, I have it on tape. I taped it so I wouldn't scratch the record." "Hmmm. I have a turntable but I don't have a tape player. I'll have to listen to that album." "You wanna borrow my tape?" "Maybe after Mass, Chris." "Ok!" "You're something else," Monsignor Meier chuckled. "My Nanny and Grandpa might let you borrow my tape player. It's at their house." "That's your father's parents, right? You see them on the weekends when you visit your father." "Yeah, my dad was here Sunday when I served Mass at 6:30 with you. He brought me." --- I never shut up as a kid about Barry or Bobby Vinton or Kenny Rogers or Anne Murray. (I still don't.) Barry wouldn't want me not keeping the kid inside me alive. I do "Could It Be Magic" in karaoke frequently enough.
