Lower tier?😂 you guys are funny. Give Viera a 1st class team and then we can judge afterwards whether he is elite/good/lower tier coach. Put Guardiola or Klopp in charge of Leeds, Crystal Palace, Burnley or similar teams, and let's see if they could win. Be realistic-look at the teams Viera coached and consider whether they would have won the Premier League.
Bielsa is a dumb tournament manager. He played his top XI against the US in a game that was pretty meaningless to Uruguay, and got his players beat up. That is how you lose tournaments, and what did he do?
Bielsa doesn’t even speak English he uses a translator 😂 think the American players would get tired of that very quickly and he would lose the locker room.
@@jzajzz That simply isn't true. A Supporters Shield in MLS, 4 trophies in Austria, 15 points in 12 games to avoid relegation with Leeds, and a semifinal with Canada having to play exclusively SA sides is more impressive than what Vieira has done. Vieira gets jobs because the people who have hired him saw him as a great player. As a coach, he is just a guy, which is why he can't keep one.
@@benoitwaffle5439 Crystal Palace did better than Leeds at the highest level... That just has more weight than Marsch s other accomplishments... These other accomplishments definitely make Jesse a slightly better candidate. But they're essentially in the same category
Well viera has managed in the most competitive league on the planet against some of the best teams on the planet...unlike winning against egypt and burkina faso...no contest viera, gets my pick
If he were to somehow lead the U.S. to winning the World Cup in 2026 in the United States St. Patrick’s Day would have to be celebrated in his honor going forward.
Also how is Veira good ending 5th place in France & Pochettino ACTUALLY winning the league isn’t a winner? Or a good option. These ppl want the US to stay down. Stevie for assistant coach to Pochettino!
I honestly don't think Patrick Vieira is a above average coach, or even that much better than Greg. Everyone thought he turned NYFC around but he really didn't. Jason Kreis did most of the leg work. The City football group screwed up with Kreis and didn't deliver the players they said they would when they said they would. A couple of Kreis' signings didn't turn out, but everyone who criticized him, only did so in hindsight. All Patrick did was get a decent roster that needed a handful of changes, city group finally brought in the players they had promised, and they had a couple of solid, not amazing, seasons with him at the helm. The rest of his managing career has been meh. I honestly am not sure he is any more qualified than Berhalter was.
I'm going to put a non-European name out here that U.S. Soccer is not considering and he is available right now. Could Guillermo Barros Schelotto be a good fit for national team coach? He was a star for Boca Juniors where he won many titles. He played in MLS and won the cup with the Columnus Crew. As a coach, he helped Lanus win the Copa Sudamericana in 2013 and guided Boca Juniors to back-to-back league titles in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. He most recently coached Paraguay. His resume is a lot stronger than Patrick Viera's. He's also a realistic choice if we're talking a money.
Put Guardiola or Klopp in charge of Leeds, Crystal Palace, or similar teams, and let's see if they could win. Be realistic-look at the teams Viera coached and tell me if they would have won the Premier League😂.
@@maa2252 Yeah pep is great obviously, but the only way he wins is with a ton of money to get players that can actually properly implement his play style. He's only ever managed teams with the most money in their league.
lol some of the reactions to Viera are weird to me..I'd take him over Berhalter and Herve Renard..sorry, people jock riding on Renard have no idea what that guy has actually done lol. Viera has some solid european coaching experience now. I watched his Palace teams, I actually didn't hate the way they played /shrug.
I know right where is all the "get renard not viera" nonsesne coming from? From clueless Muppets? Renard has won jack except playing against teams like burkina faso and Egypt...at least viera has proper pl and european experience and locker room presence that renerd cannot match
What a joke US Soccer has become. Crocker has lost all credibility. This is not the “serial winning” manager he said was part of the key criteria. Viera’s career managerial record is less than 40%.
Shaka wants Vieira because he is ..., in the same way he said he shouldn't have been sacked by Palace because leagues need managers who are ...; managers need success and after his last two jobs, Vieira doesn't come across as good enough.
No top manager in his right senses would take the USMNT job. Apart from the money, there is nothing the US has to offer in terms of career progression.
Omg where TF did those odds and candidates come from?? Steven Gerrard? Great player... but if those are all the candidates... GGG is hardly the only guy that should've gone. Crocker would prove to be a massive disappointment.
paying attention to WL records when he has only had mid level talent against mega teams is pointless. look at how his teams play. give Viera an Arsenal or PSG roster and he wins everything
I think he’d be a good choice. Far better than Berlhalter. Viera had some decent success at palace and is good at developing players. It’s not like we’re getting a world class manager.
Let’s address the elephant in the room, there has never been a black head coach for the men’s team, so the federation is looking to make history. If they go with him I hope it’s for the better
they were predicted to take 10th last yr., i don't know about injuries or what have you but I'm not sure we can say this is a strong signing but still a positive step forward from the family squabble we had.
I wish him luck. He’ll need it if he gets the job. The players will at least listen and respect him after everything he’s won, esp at international level. The US doesn’t have a lot of quality in depth and he’ll have to adapt his attacking philosophy and play a counter attacking style which they’re better suited to. What the US does have is plenty of young athletic players who’ll run all day.
Bring in Ralf Ragnick and have him revolutionize the way they play in this country. No but seriously, the US needs a manager from the German school of football. Physical characteristics match, US players aren't exceptionally technical. It would be a quick and better way of drastically improving this country's system as a whole.
Patrick Vieira had as manager a winning ratio of something like only 40%! last year in Strasbourg he went 8 matches winless! is this an improvement for USMNT?
@@knothyselfknotruth On which planet is this? His overall record is W111 D79 L102, If you subtract his stint with Little League NYCFC, his record is W71 D57 L74. If you think three games under .500 is 'very good,' what's your definition of 'mediocre at best?' He. Is. Not. Good.
I think if it was after berhalter contract expired it would have made sense but we wasted 2 years with a garbage coach we dont want another coach thats mid we want one that knows how to win now knowing we have onle 2 years left to get ready for the biggest moment in our nations history
Why would a top manager want to manage the USA national team........??? Most international managers that do well are not always top managers......tactics and picking a team is the job, NOT coaching!!!! They are with Players 20 to 25 days a year!!!!!
That will be stupid. This is no rocket science. You know what you need and you know what you do not need. You need a seasoned coach with national teams, and success in a WC, Copa America or UEFA. That is way you do not need a coach from the MLS or that only managed clubs. The US soccer federation should at least know the minimum requirements for the job!!!!
Haha shaka owning nicol with some good banter😂...well said man....ive heard nicol say that ggg and marshe are fit to lead usmnt...then why not viera? Their resumes are about equal and viera has more presence inside a locker room than either of em....would be a good hire
Why hasn't there been any coverage of the racist chants sung by Argentinian players towards the French National Team? This is a scandal that isn't talked about enough. When Vinicius was racially abused in Spain by opponent fans, you rightfully reported the incidents because it's so important to denounce this type of behaviour. Unfortunately, racist abuse by football fans happen way too often and it's not just in Spain. In this situation, the PLAYERS are involved, which is honestly just as bad if not worst. I'm deeply disappointed that you haven't covered that on your show and frankly it's a disgrace if you don't do it in the next few days.
I don't come here for political agendas and lectures thanks. I come here for football talk. Besides, everyone knows France's team is full of Africans, it's a long-running observation now. It's just a fact. Are facts "racist" now?
"The current state of American football is subpar, and the MLS is not yet where it should be. In fact, the league has become a destination for European players nearing retirement, rather than a hub for top talent. Furthermore, renowned managers are not eager to take the helm of the US national team, indicating a larger issue within the sport.
If they hire Patrick Vieria, they should have just kept Berhalter. Both haven’t done anything worthy. Vieria left nycfc, Delia won mls cup with his squad. Herve Renard would be the best option for this squad if they can’t get Tuchel or pep. I’d even try again for klopp at the end of the year
