My cousin says (idk for sure) that he saw the Mothman when he was driving towards Ritchie County West Virginia. He thought it was a teen in the middle of road with an eskimo jacket, but then it shot into the air. He drove home and told his grandfather what and where happened and how grandfather started crying because that was the exact spot where my cousins grandmother died in a car crash.

I live in Chicago and I remember the sightings, but they seem to have stopped several months ago. My mother came from West Virginia, her father was a Coal Miner. Though I never heard of the Mothman from her, you had pointed out something I never noticed before. The Freiburg Shreiker was encountered in Germany, and I know that a lot of the residents living in the Appalachian mountains are of German Descent, generally referred to as Pennsylvania Dutch. Chicago has a large German community so maybe there's a connection there. I don't know about the sightings in Japan, but I think there's a strong coincidence that can't be ignored.

I might have seen mothman when I was around 8 years old, I’m 28 now. It was night, pitch black, I stepped outside for a moment and I looked around the area I was in and noticed 2 glowing red eyes on top a tall tree. I didn’t see it’s body because of how dark it was and as I was staring into those eyes I felt a fear I’ve only experienced in my worst nightmare. I ran inside as quickly as I could. This sighting happened in Quebec, Canada. If it wasn’t the mothman it was probably a great horned owl lol

It's possible that Mothman comes from a different realm. Who knows what abilities the creatures there have. For all we know, the disasters could be a result of the psychic abilities/telepathy that he brings with him. His appearance may scare people, but the feeling of dread is a powerful emotion. That's not something you feel just because you see something out of the ordinary. Something has to shift your emotional state in order to experience an emotion that powerful.

Theory: I think he is good and that he knows we fear him so he visits the locations that will have an accident around them and tries to scare people away so they dont get injured.

Just recently, my dad told my sister, nephew and I a story about an encounter my grandmother claimed to have when she was a child, so back in the 1930s or so. Apparently my grandmother and her sisters encountered what they thought was a man hunched over in the woods that when startled, unfurled a wide set of wings and shot straight up into the air. Our dad was not familiar with the Mothman, but the description fits everything else I've heard. My sister and I just looked at each other like "No way... a mothman?" Anyhoo, this was in eastern Kentucky, way way deep in the holler. Ya never know, I guess. Grandma has been gone for a long time, but she was never known to just makes things up.

When I was a kid. I have a memory. K i was in a car, it was night. All i remember I seeing something. Bear size, looked like wings. And 2 red eyes. Big for a human but not huge. It could have been in the air of standing. I don't believe in the moth man. What I saw? Probably something from a movie tv or game, that my imagination made. True story tho. And btw then i had never heard of this. And it could have been a bear on its 2 legs. But i think the other^ makes more sense

I’m doing research on Mothman right now, and I’ve been having horrible headaches while researching.

I didn't believe in Mothman either, until me and a friend saw it up close. We didn't think we saw it or catch a glimpse, we clearly saw it. No idea what this creature is, but it does exist. And I can't imagine anyone ever able to get a picture of it because we weren't able to move or speak for about an hour. Then all we could do was repeat "what the f... was that" for the next hour while still not able to move. Somehow it seems to paralyze you. And also I could read its thoughts when it looked at us. I do live in West Virginia, near the Ohio river the next county over from where Point Pleasant is. And the spot where we saw it is the highest point in the county. And we both estimated the wingspan to be between 14 and 15 feet. Human like legs hanging down, human like head (but with no neck), hard to tell how tall it was (was flying the whole time) estimated to be around 400 pounds. We didn't see the red glowing eyes everyone talks about though. Looks alot more like a bat than a moth. (similar to the creature in Jeepers Creepers movie) Don't expect anyone to believe unless they see it for themselves.

I was raised in Mexico City and one thing I learned is that they say that if a Moth enters your house and gets stuck in any room, that would be an omen of tragedy/death. Like one person or relative close to you would die soon. But if we see a 7 feet tall Moth-man, hell that must means something big and bad will happen.

Has anyone ever experienced what is variously known as 'the Hairy Hands' or 'the Hairy Hands of Dartmoor' ? I have never been to England, however, this exact _driving_ phenomena happened to me once, over here in the USA, on a hot evening, while I was driving all alone. I don't remember exactly where I was, but it is very likely that I was driving along Route 390 in New York State. As I drove, everything was really quiet, and really boring. The weather was clear, and the air was hot, yet comfortable. I was tooling along, in my '73 Plymouth Satellite, at a constant speed, in the dark, with the windows rolled down, and not another car in sight. All of a sudden, things got REAL interesting. From out of nowhere, two _BIG_ disembodied _white_ hands, with big hairy knuckles, reached through my open Driver's-side Window, grabbed the steering wheel, and then tried to force the wheel, HARD, and all the way, to the Right. I remember putting both hands on the _right_ side of the steering wheel, and, for about 10 seconds, _shoving_ , as hard as I could, to the LEFT. I remember _just barely_ keeping the car from overturning. I also remember having to suddenly _correct for_ my sustained oversteering effort (upon the moment when the disembodied Hairy Hands retracted back into the darkness.) I remember thinking to myself, immediately after it was over, "Wow! what a _test_ of the _speed_ of my reflexes, to have been able to keep the car *both* _On The Road_ *and* _Not Crashing_ !"

My mother once told me a story about something similar to this. She said that she was washing the dishes one day around 6 pm going on 7 during the summer. While washing the dishes, she said she seen a very large grey colored creature with huge wings drop onto the ground. It then got back up and picked up a skateboard that was in our yard. It flew away but before it did she said it had wings as big as 7 to 10 feet (like moth man) and flew away. She didn’t get perfect clear look at his face but she said it resembled a gargoyle as big as 5.5 grown man she did research on all possible bird types for a week straight and found nothing close to it looking like that bird did... it’s pretty creepy because a month later there were people reporting a large bird type creature picking up small dogs at a dog park 10 mins from my house
