I knew it!! Your gonna love that saw. I’ve had mine for over a year now and it has been great. I run the 25” on mine just fine. I prefer the 25over the 20! It calms the saw done just a bit! Nice purchase Matt👍🏻👍🏻-TOA
Hi Mat, that is one hell of a buy on that 400. Good for you and congrats on 2000 subs. You are getting your Woodyard setup and things are moving forward. Great job. See you on the next one.
Every RU-vid channel I watch that have both the 500 and 400. I am starting to see their go to saw being the 400, as the hoopla of the over hyped and priced 500 has died off! The 400 barely got noticed at the time and was a sleeper saw in the line up...Enjoy!👍
400 will pull 25” full comp no problem. About 2 -3 seconds slower than the 462 with same bar and chain. I have a video coming out soon with the 400 thru 661 with cut times.
I used a ms250 for about 10 years then I bought a ms391 with a 25" bar needed something bigger to cut the bigger logs. I still use my 250 all the time I just use my 391 when cutting the bigger stuff. The 250 is probably 4 lbs lighter. The kind of saw you can cut without getting tired
I love the MS250, it is a great saw! I used to run an 028 for the small stuff, and my MS460 for bigger trees until my body started to fail. I went to the MS250 and MS291 and they covered all my needs with our junky Ponderosa Pine.
Best of luck with your new acquisition, I had a look at one a couple of years ago too but opted for the 462 as it's only 200g heavier and I have both 20inch and 25inch bars for it but folk whom I know that have the 400 are absolutely delighted with it
I think you made a good choice with the 462. It’s my favorite saw to use until it’s too heavy lol. The 400 I can saw all day and it’s better on gas too. But the 462 power is way better than the 400.
I just bought one of these, had been using the 261. I was afraid of packing around more weight but now I don’t ever put this saw down. I put a LW 20” bar on it and she is sweet. I wanted a 25” but I like the balance with the 20”. Nice deal on the saw!
Great deal on the 400 Matt and it will probably be my next saw also. It would make a great middle saw between the 271 and 462. Congrats on the 2k subs!! obie
Nice little 20” saw, runs high rpm’s! Oh one thing… that’s a waste of time trying to put a chain on that way…you just wind the tensioner all the way back and hang the bar on the pin and saw…then wrap the chain around the sprocket and bar…you was looking like a greenhorn there…lol! Love the videos…sell that firewood!
G'day FOTH, you just popped up on the side bar I've got one of those MS400Cs with the twenty inch bar it's technically in the 70cc class I use it for limbing and Bucking on smaller logs it's power to weight ratio excelleration and top end speed is leading edge, they almost sound like a ported saw off the shelf 👍.
Well I just love my wife. She found somebody going out of the firewood business. He bought all his equipment 3 months ago. I ended up buying him out. Got a nice new log splitter and a brand new Echo CS 590 timber wolf chainsaw. Now I have two Echo 590s
That saw just easily flies through that wood, and it sounds great! If I was still cutting firewood for sale,I'd seriously look into this saw as my MS460 is too heavy now.
Why is it that the 460 is so damn heavy ? The 660 which is heavier seems nicer to use on big job and the 460 just seems so cumbersome for bucking and limbing now. I think it's all in my head.
Oh wow, that is an insane deal. Just as a comparison, the 400 is 0.2 lbs lighter than my 290. They are crazy for the size. The WCS exhaust and filter make a huge difference too.
Nice saw! Bigger is not better in certain situations, I prefer lighter due to personal usage. Was in Marion this past weekend, $7.00 for small bundle, $3.50 for kindling.
Mine took several tanks, maybe 8 or so before it really woke up! Not as much grunt as larger saws but pound for pound i'm really happy with mine! I run full house 25 and am plenty happy with it. $500!!!! What a buy!!
Good morning everyone. Hey you got a great deal on that chainsaw! The ms400 is hard to find in my area. It took me 5 months to get one. Well worth the wait enjoy your new song you're going to love it
Awesome deal! MS400 is a great saw, skip chains are half the speed of full comp, it will pull it just fine wasting time with a skip. All 60+CC’s saws I have seen are rated to run a 84dl 24”/25” ones that struggle are the clamshells still rather lose a few rpm’s vs skip. Got 2 great saws, very fast production speed with those models.
Hi matt great buy looks good..i have some massive beech myself so think of going up grading ...thinking of an echo Cs-7310 myself ..probably 32 bar on it ..but we ll see ..
Im not bashing Ebay or its sellers, but I recently bought 2 things off there that turned out to be clones. First was some seresto flea collars for my dogs ($50 each) and the second was energizer AA lithium batteries ($25 for 8) for some trail cameras I use for hunting. Both were manufactured and labeled to satisfy the human eye perfectly. Neither product performed near as well as I knew they should. I called the companies and come to find out the LOT numbers that are printed on the product to identify the date and information about the batch DID NOT exist in their system. The flea collars didn't kill fleas and the batteries lasted only 3 weeks in my cameras. I have always purchased both these products from Walmart and have always performed well above my expectations, so I knew there was something not right with the ones I bought off Ebay. Im not saying that your chains are fake. Im just telling you what happened to me so you know that it DOES HAPPEN. Just be careful because there are COUNTRIES that are VERY good at cloning major brand merchandise.
Yeah I hate buying stuff from a dealership that’s twice as much but at-least we know it’s right from them. This is my first problem with eBay chains. I’ve had no problems with 3 other chains I bought.
@@FirewoodontheHill Good deal bro. I watch your videos and like what you're doing. You and your lady work hard at what you're doing and wanted to give you a heads up on what happened to me. Keep up the good work
Skip chain doesn’t have as many teeth so it cuts slower than a full comp chain unless the power head struggles to cut with the full comp then the skip chain could be faster.
Damn good saw and some great points. The weight is a big factor for sure, most of us around here run the 500i , in all my years of messing with power saws I've never had such a fuss free grab n go powerhead.
If you want something light you might try a ms 261cm put a 3/8 sprocket and run a 25 inch bar. I found that for the weight it’s hard to beat. It definitely beats lugging around an old heavy saw. Unless you need the power. Cuts great but you can’t lean on it hard like you can with the big boys.
@@FirewoodontheHill yeah it's definitely wouldn't be what you got power wise. my dad has a 056 super that still runs like a top but it's a back breaker by then end of the day. but it's for sure a fast cutter. it's kinda all a bunch of trade offs. I've heard good things about that saw and especially that 462. enjoy that new saw.
