Steve, having watched all the vids you featured I knew this one was coming and rightly so. Your unbiased, scientific (as could be palatable) assessment over a range of dinkum Aussie scanarios was the most believable thing Ive seen on a decade of Atrocial Media, thank you. I looked at this stuff or similar for many years with disdain at the American Ad over hyped (and therefore assumed garbage) for the sometimes fisho that kept his lil creel in the shed and nicked out when the Mrs wasnt looking. Through your constant lifelong fascination with the innovative, 100s of 1000s of fishos have had their enthusiasm envigorated, you should be proud. Keep up the great work mate, Im gonna put my order in tonight..
Thanks Starlo, I bought some Bloodworm flavoured Fishbites after your previous video. I've rigged it with #4 Starlotackle Wormburners in Ruby Red. I fish off a south coast beach and have caught good bream, mulloway and gummy sharks on the rig. The stuff is easy, clean and consistent to use.
Great episode Steve, I've been watching you play with this stuff for a while. Well worth having a pack in the boat or tackle box for when you run out of bait. Or your on a day trip and see a nice spot for a throw. I'll look up Tom's site. Thanks mate.
Hi Steve, an interesting alternative to frozen bait. Most of my fishing is spinning, however occasionally I’ll use bait & this will convenient. I’ve just ordered a blue & red pkt. Look forward to trying it. Cheers

Interested to see if they work on the whiting n herring over here in WA,great stuff to pack in the spin bag for when the choppers turn off the bite. So far I've had decent results with sand whiting and ok results with herring in the kwinana ockingham\mandurah area using the bloodworm and shrimp versions. It's probably almost as effective as bait, depending on what you compare it to. It will also catch flathead and tarwhine, as well as blowfish. Got a few wrasse, buttterfish and trumpeters from freo earlier this week, but I don't keep them. I've tried it in the Swan River near the Causeway a couple of times and it will catch bream, I think it takes a bit more time in the water for it to become effective, so there's more time for pickers and blowies to get at it and maybe the bream aren't attracted to it as much - I'm still testing it out. I've been cutting 3 or 4 small 5mm x 5mm cubes of it and stacking the up on the hook like a kebab, it seems a little better than leaving a chunk of it dangling off the end of the hook - but bait presentation is certainly something worth experimenting with, as well as hook choice. Circle hooks seem to work quite well imo.

Thanks for the reply,I’m in the Mandurah area Mainly but I get round the swan sometimes so it’s good to have some info,glad they seem to be working. Seem like a good option for when I plan a lure session and things aren’t hot,or that inevitable time I forget the bait😂
@@Azz151515 not sure about yourself,but have noticed there is a lack of blowies outside of the metro areas? Fished buffalo a few weeks back with small baits like prawns and got 0 blowies,move up the coast too white hills or Tim’s and you bet you’ll get blowies during the day at minimum. 😂 wa is interesting from fishing coming from the NT originally.

An update for you Starlo. Haven't done too much fishing in FNQ, but tried Fishbites today. Lots and lots of bites, same if not more than mullet and of course, much tougher. That said, it didn't take too long for the toothy critters to pull it apart. Unfortunately, the fish were small, so I didn't hook too many, but I have no doubt about the fish-attracting properties of Fishbites. Fish taken on Fishbites were crescent grunter and rock cod (I think!). Can't wait to try them in an environment that I'm more familiar with.
Last fishing session was with some soft old frozen cockles, not the best time watching your bait fly off in another direction. Just ordered a few “flavours” to test out next time when I can’t get fresh local bait. Tight lines 😊
@@EdmundSampson-pd7vi I’ve used Inghams Chicken Chippees whole and cut into three with great success in the Murray River and Murrumbidgee for Murray Cod
I use these from eBay. Great product and I have caught great fish with them. Online they are expensive, but in Perth I have only seen them available at one store. I like the webbing / fabric inside which helps them stay on the hook for ages.
I've caught a couple of impressive black drums on fish bites over here in Florida but usually the targeted species is pinfish and other small bait fish to use as cut bait on my more serious rods. Storing it in your car might dry it out but it lasts a really long time in the fridge.
I just ordered some! Will be interesting to see how they go on the SA Salmon... Tired of using a whole bag of pilchards each session and losing half to the waves.
I've watched a number of videos of American fishos using Fishbites and they all say they get a better hook up rate with small pieces of Fishbites. Most were using a 1cm square piece only and less is more worked best for them.
Yep. Small is best, as I've been learning, and pinned just once on the hook. The American anglers really seem to favour circle hooks, too, which is interesting.
Agreed! I SO wish we'd had it in time for our most recent trip! I would've LOVED to have tried it on the KGW, in particular... Guess we'll just have to go back!
I bought a pack after your first video and had high hopes for them. Fished about an hour with not even a touch. Left the baited rod and started casting around it with a soft plastic and on got a fish on my second cast. Third cast was another fish and the fish bites didn’t get touched. I will give them a go again but not feeling overly confident about their success rates, at least not in Brisbane.
@@StarloGetsReel I definitely will keep trying until the pack is used up. I was insanely excited to try them and Im still hoping they work on the snapper now that its season for them.
@@ArbyCreations I’ve only used mine twice but I got a bunch of pinkies 20-35cm with them,so I reckon if you dropped it down off a boat u would do well for pinks

@@StarloGetsReel Mullet are my new no.1 target species. I had long believed them uncatchable, but I have seen here on RU-vid people hauling them on on flies, with bread and baited spinners. So let'see what a bit of Fishbite on the end of a Mepps spinner can do . . .

So far I've done well on squid, shrimp, crab and pipi/cockle... worth trying a few different flavours, and also adding a piece of the "fast acting" formulation if you're not getting much action.

I try them in Hawaii shoreline and I found the fish eating the coating on a membrane (looks like netting material)no hook-ups but the membrane was still attached…so it does attract fish to nibble on the fish bites…leaving me with unsuccessful results..this was many years ago.. Maybe it time to try again ..maybe they may have improved? Aloha

The makers play that one pretty close to the chest (understandably). But I know that it's non-toxic, biodegradable (apart from inner mesh in the long life version), and supposedly "food grade", and that it doesn't contain any animal products. My best guess would be some sort of vegetable or plant-based starch?? Plus the magic scent ingredients, of course.
I haven’t had a chance to try them on anything other than carp in the fresh yet, but I’d lean to the Bloodworm ones, I reckon… Keen to hear how you go! 👍
Any idea what the difference between the different "flavours" is? Is there actually a different scent in each kind as well as the fish attractant hormone? Or just a different colour?
Apparently different formulas and scents. I was fishing with it today and the fish clearly preferred the “Shrimp” over everything else… and they were spewing up prawns, so I guess there must be something to it!

I received a couple more packs in the mail today, different scents and activation speeds, I'll keep experimenting with it in the Perth Metro area. So far the whiting love it and herring are pretty easy to catch on it too. I haven't cracked to code on our Swan River black bream as yet
@@davidw381979 I've had many days without a bite on live shrimp. That's fishing. Be sure you're choosing the correct scent for the application. The scents are ALL different and will make a difference when targeting specific species. It's certainly not a scam. If it were, we wouldn't be in business for 24 years. WalMart, Bass Pro and thousands of other retailers wouldn't be carrying it if it were.
Absolutely! And trust me, it was one of the FIRST things we asked about... The bait itself is fully biodegradable, non-toxic and even "food safe", apparently (not that I'd be eating it!). The only non-biodegradable components are the packaging and the cloth matrix in the centre of the long-lasting version. This cloth ends up staying on your hook and usually has to be trimmed off with scissors. Obviously it and any packaging should be treated like any other non-biodegradable litter and brought home for correct disposal.

@@StarloGetsReel You hit the nail on the head Steve. The Fast-Acting baits (red bags) are a 100% biodegradable product for anyone interested. The chemicals we use to make our scents are all FDA-approved ingredients for whatever that's worth to anyone. You could eat this product yourself if you wanted to, it's ompletely safe however it will run through faster than a Mexican bean burrito. Don't ask me how I know

True enough, and I say exactly that in the video, but there’s also a lot to be said for the convenience of an alternative that lasts for years and doesn’t require refrigeration or an aerated live well!

Freedom, love that name. While we're not as bad off here in the States, things are getting crazy price-wise over here as well. I can tell that in the 24 years we've been in business our pricing is within .50 of where we started. You can't say that about too many other products.
