sleeping god would be something, seven continents might be interesting but a bit repetitive for you since it's the same map all the time. these are the two that comes to mind right off the bat.
Wow this video is epic! I'm in the middle of watching (on day 3 so far) but I'm so impressed by the editing - I love the comments mid-timelapse, and the map animations are great too! Also, great job on the actual speedrun part too. So intense!

The production of this is absolutely amazing, from the expert time lapsing/overlay, to that killer music and map progression that gives a very (yet legally distinct) LotR vibe. The real highlights, chronologically, are as follows: Mike staring intently at an imaginary watch, Nick's sticker slip, scissors on the floor, empty 2-liter, late night giggle fits, awkward cinnamon roll, and realizing you're "done" but missed the last treasure chest (asterisk on the 100%...). Well freaking done.
Woah again? Man you guys really rock. The most impressive thing to me is not even that you can pull it off, but keep a very positive / fun vibe the entire time.
I would love to be able to make the time to do this. You guys are like the Christian Bale and Daniel Day Lewis of board gaming, putting your mental and physical health to the wayside for the art; bravo, gentlemen…bravo.
It was an epic journey, glad you brought us along. And this is such a fun recap. Thanks for all your hard work. After finishing JOTL, all I wanted for Xmas was Gloomhaven and I got it. The app is amazing!! Squeal! So much fun!!
@@TheBrothersMurph Definitely. Finally convinced someone to dip their toes into the gloom via JOTL, so we're playing the other two characters I didn't use my first playthrough. I loved the demolitionist, but the Voidwarden is proving pretty interesting too.
RPGs and D&D type games have not been my favorite type of games for a while, but as a board game designer, I was like whooaah, mind-blown, when we playedGloomhaven. I did not know someone could design a board game like that. I enjoyed my unique character with the dule-option cards, Exp points, unlock surprises, and the campaign map. I appreciate the sheer effort put into the design of this game. Deserves to be in the Gaming Hall of Fame for being groundbreaking in the RPG/D&D genre. Thanks for the video bros!
Hahaha - that is awesome! My wife and I are playing, not done yet (after 300 people-hours of playing) but close and trying to finish before Frosthaven. We have spent lots of time exploring and levelling characters, we each play two characters so we can see lots of them and we really like seeing the combos between the four of them. Only have one character still locked.

You guys must have a really good handle on the tech side of things. I can only imagine the sheer amount of footage you had to edit from filming 12+ hours every day for a week. And doing that without losing any video from a technical glitch is impressive!
Hi! Very entertaining. It took my group about two years to finish the game, there were four of us, so that slows things down quite a bit. At 13:20 in the video, a note about Rock Slide: It’ll only deal 2 damage to the target because the damage doesn’t stack for monsters/targets next to multiple rocks. Great job though. Nicely edited.
Lol and I thought my friends and I actually finishing Gloomhaven normally was an achievement! Neat video, would love a spoilertastic (maybe Meta Game Minute?) discussing the particular characters you played - you’re bang on that they are the special sauce of this incredible game.
A request: If you ever break out Gloomhaven again, you should get some more people and compare your 2 player experience to the 4 player experience. The additional bad guys is an interesting way of scaling things and I wonder how well you think it plays out after a binge like this. (No way would I recommend trying to get 4 players through in a week!)
I agree with the retirement feeling weird. One of our group members just retired a Spellweaver after nearly 9 months of playing. He was legit upset that it was over.
You two are too legendary! It's a dream of mine to beat Gloomhaven but I don't have time (so sad...) I know there's a digital version, but the physical game is much more enjoyable and rewarding after you win! A question that perplexed me: you completed almost every scenario in one attempt! What difficulty level did you play the scenarios on? Congratulations on the incredible feat! Keep up the awesome work!
See we make our life easy by creating world records so by definition we are the ones with the record. Didn't even have to beat anyone for it. Now will the record stand?? That is the question
This was an awesome challenge to watch happen. Not that it means a lot, and there might even be more comments about this, but that envelope X is a really big puzzle that you unlocked and it leads to some interesting stuff. I don't want to spoil all of it in case you guys ever decided to unlock it fully, but there is a translation sheet in the box for those runes, and you'll even notice other places the runes are. (Sawbones's headband has one. I feel like that's okay to spoil since you did unlock him) And the runes you gather spell something. Once you find it, you can google it and discover the answers. But while it is a tedious puzzle, and one I and many are hesitant to spoil, I do recommend you all try to solve it, especially now that you have beaten the entire game in terms of senarios. (Also look in the very bottom of the box under the plastic stands for a secret. Thank me later)
I was also thinking that the Nightshroud could have been a reason for the speedrun becoming speedier from day 5, but I checked the spreadsheets and it didnt looked much more efficient than the Doomstalker. Nightshroud is considered by some one of the strongest characters.
I think the combo of the two really helped. And the main thing is we really knew how to work together with those characters so we didn't have any losses which I think accounts for a lot of the "time save" on the back end of the challenge
A great campaign and cudos to you. But I have to give a little critic. For 100% I think you need to unlock all characters and maybe even retire them (to get the events into the deck). I am still positive that you would have gotten it done but it would have been a tighter finish since you need to adjust your way to tackle some scenarios to meet the conditions for retirements.

Gratz! It took me almost 1 month to completly finish GH (and Forgotten Circles) while playig solo. And I thought I went very fast, woke up everyday at 4am, played until I had to go to work, then play again after work. I did play through it again, but with the digital version (very well done). I also played Jaws of the lion once and I'm currently midway in my second playthrough (this is so much faster to setup, I wish Frostheven would be like this but I think it has been confirmed that it wont) Also, sorry for my bad english, still learning!

Crazy achievement. Makes me want to go outside and go for a walk! Did you decipher any runes from envelope x? Also, any fights or disagreements between the two of you along the way? There must have been low points where something went wrong or somebody looted a bunch of coins and you got crabby with each other?
We deciphered the envelope after we were done with the whole thing! And surprisingly no, we get along incredibly well, so other than possibly a few times we got snippy with each other when we were ungodly tired, no real crabbiness
Sounds like a whole different game from my experience with it. Been playing 4 player and have yet to have any that are true "run and gun". I'd say an average map is 2hrs+ Great video.

Just discovered that this game exists. It looks absolutely epic, but also extremely complicated and probably too long for me to be able to have the time to play. Damn it!
If it looks too daunting we really suggest trying it digitally. The game takes care of all the enemy stuff, and rules. So you get to just play. It’s incredibly well done
Gotta work out envelope X! Is truly epic. Also, curious in you stats what your city level was as you went? Would think that would be the biggest blocker to getting the final scenario’s unlocked from the Town Records

No prob! The whole thing is in time lapse, so you honestly aren't really seeing much, but if you want to know nothing, then yeah you probably shouldn't watch
This video makes me want to buy Gloomhaven when I have the money. I love the Human Sawbones character. I was wondering how you would approach it, lots of pre-organizing. @@clayw1656 I got jaws of the lion and its definitely easier to get into than gloomhaven itself. A friend of mine has gloomhaven and starting scenario 1 and learning everything is tough, whereas JOTL dedicates 5 scenarios to learning how to play the game
@@lu7ky yeah it's a standalone "prequel" that is much more compact and has the core systems. Many reviews say this is how players interested should start playing gloomhaven. Forgotten Circles, however, is an expansion that is a story expansion of the BBB
I'm wondering on what difficulty you played on. Normal difficulty? Also did you choose to stay on Angry Face and Eclipse or did you not manage to retire them?
yeah we did normal difficulty for all the main story and then switched down to easy mode once we were just going for the 100% and grinding side missions because we were only concerned with time at that point. and we stayed on those final two characters because as it played out we ran into a situation where both of us couldn't retire based on our personal quest. But that was a great combo so we had no complaints.
