If you're here for a geology report, this is the watered-watered down version. Volcanic ash, pumice, and pyroclastic surges and flows fell from the skies, not soot. Pyroclastic surges and flows took out Herculaneum by midnight. Pyroclastic surges and flows were also hitting Pompeii, but eventually covered Pompeii the next day. The whole eruption event happened in waves. The Mt. Vesuvius AD79 eruption was a VEI 5. Mt Vesuvius is the abbreviated name for the Somma Vesuvius Volcanic Complex. Vesuvius is the little sister connected to Super Volcano Campi Flegrei. Researching volcanoes, the lava you can get away from, but it's the pyroclastic flows that immediately deal the unalive damage, depending on the temperature. This is a great vid and my adequate little blurb that paraphrases what Pliny the Younger observed and better minds than mine have meticulously gathered scientific evidence to explain what occurred that horrible day in August. Adding this one to my "Geology" playlist.

Don't know about Vesuvius, but I did "survive" the 2021 La Palma eruption and oh boy it was a sight to behold!

Im so glad there's no volcanos here in Northen Europe But IT would Be nice to visit on volcano, i Want visit IN Italy and visit on Etna. I think we could survive from normal volcano eruption But If Super volcano Yellowstone Will eruption The whole earth splitsand all Life in our world Will die... Bright Side save us. 🌋

Actually, during the eruption in 79 A.D, the volcanic eruption had different stages throughout hours, giving the townspeople enough time to escape. The only reason a lot of them died was because they didn’t know what was a volcanic eruption and thought they would survive or the eruption was just nothing.
