In 1933, two thirds of West Australians voted to leave the Federation, however the proposal was rejected by the British Crown who said it couldn't support it because "it wasn't in the interests of the entire population of Australia".
Emboldened by the hard border, a new secession party has formed in WA ahead of the 2021 state election.
It's not the first time there have been calls for Western Australia to leave the Federation - but is it actually possible and what would it look like?
