The Super Soco TC Max is a compact little electric that is not a bad option for an inner city run about or commuter. Super Soco in Australia are now running some excellent deals on this nippy EV. It's not for everyone, but if you are in the market for a low capacity commuter or EV it just might hit the mark.

Great review ! The main reason for me that I did buy the Tc Max is that it's quiet. Comming home from work pretty late and enjoying night rides on my days off, I don't disturb my neighbors as they sleep... some even thanked me for it!

My girlfriend is SuperSoco TC Max user for two summers already, and we are really happy with it. It works very well in the town (15km across the whole town), home - work distance less than 2km, distance to city center from home about 5km, and getting around the town its very nice! On busier day riding charging can be done in 2-3 days. Going outside town, to country-side house 30km away, battery drops to about 40%, road of which half of distance is 50km/h, other half is 90/km/h. We bought another charger for countryside house, which was basically another 10% of the cost of the bike it self.

There is actually a 72Ah Battery which is 2/3 more than the original one with 42Ah. Also there is also a 12A charger which will speed up charging. I own a TC Max for 2 seasons now and use it always. 15000km run already and charging is no problem at all. Combined with a Type2 Chagrer Station Adapter you can charge everywhere actually.

Another great video team. It’s a tough one to be honest about , mostly because it’s a fairly new concept with not too much to compare to. I was in the uk recently and there was a petrol/ diesel exclusion zone around the local schools to improve air quality…. And it was really nice. Quiet and with fresh crisp air. If I lived in a city and charge points were available, I’d be keen. I think with more demand, more charging points will become available and with more charging points, the more viable an option it would be. It’s one for the pioneers.

Thanks for the informative review, very balanced and fair. Especially appreciated the full break down of the battery removal as that is something most reviews appear to gloss over. I actually am more in the target market for the TC Max then most, living in a city, but needing to get around a bit on 60kph+ roads and was very much looking forward to finally having found a bike that has a top speed above 45 and swappable battery. But that process just makes it unusable when parking outside. Maybe I am fundamentally missing something but why are there a myriad of options with easily swappable batteries (even the option of running two in series) in the field of 45kph scooters, but when needing to go slightly faster, there is practically no option. Heck Sondors actually went so far as to advertise their battery as easily swappable with no tools or complicated process in videos, then went back on that, the final bike requiring a toolkit to access the battery.
@BikerTorque
@BikerTorque Год назад
Thanks for watching. I think the main reason for Scooters with a 2 battery option is the additional storage under the seat. We reviewed the Super Soco CPX scooter and it was physically a much bigger bike than the TCMax, hence the option of having a second battery.
@REFfigy
@REFfigy 10 месяцев назад
The problem is weight, I own a tc (non max) and the battery is half the size and weight, and much easier to take out. Once you get to more powerful bikes, the smallest battery you can get away with is ~17kg, which is too heavy to easily remove.

Great unbiased review. Other reviews tend to just focus on the fact it’s electric and don’t really tell you what it’s like to ride or live with. I own a regular TC (hub drive model.) I love it for my 20km commute, and the 2019 model doesn’t have the annoying startup sound. Being an early model it can be derestriced to 80km/h but it can just barely keep up with traffic going up hills on a 70km/h road. I feel like SuperSoco could make something really compelling at the $9k price point if they tried!

I can drive to town and back twice with a battery charge. 2 x 30kms and love the fact I am powered by sunshine. It is a lightweight solo rider short distance commuter. It's my third season using TC-Max and, honestly, if it weren't for range, I'd be super happy. TC-Max is my first bike, so I was quite excited to use it. I'm used to carrying the battery to my flat (I live on the ground floor) and with my commutes, I charge it 1-4 times a week, usually with 1-3 times happening during the weekend when I'm out and about. Some negatives, well, in general, the f*cking ignition sound does piss you off. It really does. Second, the plate holder, well, mine broke due to vibrations so I had to directly bolt my plate to the metal holder, rather than the designated plastic one. That part could use some help. Lights also, well, feel iffy. I'd love if it had some more power to it as during nights you can definitely feel it lacking, even with long range beams on. It's a good bike, for city commutes I cannot recommend it enough. If you were willing to invest an extra buck, you can buy adapters to charge it on the car docks which make city commute even easier. Going to sell mine this season, but the only reason is because I do need range. Motorclycling is a hobby for me and as such, I do love going about on 3-4 hour rides non stop and having lived in a flat for a long time now, I have no room for 2 bikes, sadly.

NO COFFEE MACHINE IN THE OFFICE? Ross, that is just mean 😉. Great honest review. The biggest obstacle battery motorcycles face will always be the range due to the size and weight of the battery. The other obstacle this bike faces is price. Even though it is very affordable. If you compare it to Honda's CB125F (at $3637 ride away), It would take approx 3 years for the purchase price and running cost to even out. In saying that, there are some very exciting electric motorcycles that are due out in the market soon and I will be happy to have one in the garage to use for daily commuting. Also, some of the propoganda about the EV industry is just ridiculous, yet I hear people repeating it with some authority in their voice.

For me and my situation, the bike works. My ride to the office is about 22 to 25 km and I can charge the bike at home and in the office without removing the battery. The area I live in is 50% hills and 50% flat area, with some steep inclines. In the beginning I was a bit worried about the speed drop at hills, but then again, the TC Max was not bleeding speed as much as I expected and holds the 80km/h zones uphill at a steady 75km/h. I could also make the run to the office and back home with one charge and still having about 23% battery left. Over time the range will probably reduce, but then again I can charge for free at the office. Who knows what the battery prices will be like in three years time when it might be a good idea to replace the battery ...

Why didn't anyone think to put a strong enough dynamo on the rear and front wheels of the engine that will power the engine all the time and the possibility to turn off the dynamo when the battery is full. To make a dynamo on both wheels that produces electricity when you want it you do the same principle in the engine settings and on the mobile phone application as with the old bikes that were meant to be had the light in front you had to turn on the dynamo that was on the tire and turned in order to have electricity.Something on that principle, but in a different place. Make some sort of thing and adapt it for the wheels and as long as you don't turn off the dynamo, it will power the battery,of course there should be some kind of converter and u in the settings on the mobile phone and in the engine software, you set when the dynamo turns on, that is, at what percentage of the battery.And it can also be used for cars that have four wheels, and the faster you go, the stronger the current it produces, and the problem is solved as far as the range that a car, motorcycle, or bicycle can reach.
@BikerTorque
@BikerTorque 5 месяцев назад
That makes sense in theory
@Loki_Games4Fun
@Loki_Games4Fun 5 месяцев назад
@@BikerTorque And this can also be done in practice, you just need a team of smart engine engineers and a team of electricians and the problem is solved, only then the oil companies would totally fail,and that doesn't suit them at all.Even if fans are installed in cars and trucks so sensitive to the smallest air currents that they spin and produce electricity,another way to power at least electronics in a car, van, or truck.And imagine how fast those little fans would spin in a super fast car just install them where the air intakes are in the car and put several fans one behind the other and voilà.

> high beam; Please stop blinding other road users, and adjust your normal headlight properly for riders weight... it wasn't correct in the video, it's visibly pointing too low. It's not rocket science, it's a size 10 key iirc (or 8.)

Trust me, the high beams on this bike aren’t that bright.

Not for me! I live on a small island with a population of 60,000 people. It is 24 square miles. The local energy company has now finished a properly costed study into what is required to set up eco power for homes businesses and transport for the next 25 years. The cost, 1.75 Billion pounds sterling for the equipment and infrastructure to achieve this. Yes, that is the number! Electric vehicles are not the answer however alluring they may seem. Sorry.

That cost seems extraordinary.

@@BikerTorque 🤪🤪 I'm slightly frightened to carry this on as I might seem like a crank. But local to me they are looking at a 36 mile long wind farm in the coastal waters. That's £5 Billion pounds UK sterling! I wish I was making it up! 🙄.
