For the third one 495 I used a pattern, since the sum of the digits of 495 is 18 and therefore a multiple of 9 I divided by 9 to find 55, from there I did (25+(5*6))*9 =495
I tried to find some way to multiply 25. Since I didn't realise how to get 20 without using the 5, I chose 18 instead and went for 6*3=18 18*25=450 9*5=45 450+45=495
For the first round, another solution could be: 50 + 5 = 55 55 x 4 x 3 = 660 660 - 2 = 658 For the second round, another solution could be: 100 + 5 = 105 105 x 7 = 735 9 - 6 = 3 735 - 3 = 732 For the third round, given that 495 = 11 x 3 x 3 x 5, another solution could be: 25 + 5 + 3 = 33 6 + 9 = 15 33 x 15 = 495 For the final round, the easiest way is: 25 x 3 = 75 75 + 8 = 83 9 + 1 = 10 83 x 10 = 830
All in the time for once, but not the most challenging set of numbers rounds * * * I got the same solution for the first one. A couple of alternative solutions for the second one [732] were: 100+5=105 105x7=735 6/2=3 OR 9-6=3 735-3=732 I got the same solution as Neil Delamere for the 3rd, I was surprised the contestants didn't. I got a different solution to Rachel for the last one [830]: 8x3=24 24+9=33 33x25=825 825+5=830
I think it was better when the host was a bit dim. Colin is about as good as the contestants at times so they don’t seem as impressive. Richard used to be in awe of Carol and the dictionary corner and srsly impressed with the contestants. Colin isn’t as impressed with them. Takes away a bit of their gloss imo.
For the second round I did (100+5)*7 - 3, 3 = 6/2 For the third one I did ((3-1)*25+5)*9 The first one I did the same as them and in the last one the same as Rachel.

In the first round, I saw the contestants' solution but also factored the target (47 x 7 x 2 = 658) for this solution: 50 - 3 = 47 9 + 5 = 14 47 x 14 = 658 Again in the second round, I saw the contestants' solution but factored (61 x 3 x 2^2 = 732) for an alternative: 9 + 2 = 11 7 - 5 = 2 11 x 2 = 22 100 + 22 = 122 122 x 6 = 732 In the third round, I factored (11 x 5 x 3^2 = 495) for these solutions: 6 x 5 = 30 30 + 25 = 55 55 x 9 = 495 3 - 1 = 2 25 x 2 = 50 50 + 5 = 55 55 x 9 = 495 25 + 9 = 34 34 - 1 = 33 33 x 5 x 3 = 495 And had one that didn't rely on factoring, as follows: 25 x 6 x 3 = 450 9 x 5 = 45 450 + 45 = 495 In the final numbers round, I saw Rachel's solution, but I was somewhat surprised it didn't occur to the contestants to do this: 25 x 3 = 75 75 + 8 = 83 9 + 1 = 10 83 x 10 = 830 And another solution is: 25 + 9 = 34 34 x 8 = 272 272 + 5 = 277 277 x 3 = 831 831 - 1 = 830
I got a little creative with the second one. Haven’t seen this version in the comments: 100 x 7 = 700 6 x 9 = 54 54 / 2 = 27 700 + 27 + 5 = 732 Also: A Countdown presenter under the age of 70, is that allowed???
@mckenna8663 The rules states to use any combination of the numbers (without repeating), NOT necessarily using all of the numbers. The solutions that commenters made are valid and correct unlike what you are suggesting. I'd advise to check the rules again as you're commenting false information on the rules.
