An excellent review. Have to agree with you, that head sculpt is incredibly good, right down to details like the musculature of his forehead as he frowns a little, and the moles on his face. His eyes are superb, with impressive colouring and reflectivity. And I also agree about his jedi robe; he just looks so much better with it on even though that isn't the iconic en-gaurde pose he's famous for. The extras that come with the deluxe set are very cool too, particularly the craftmaship of the weaponry and the cut up droid. The holotable itself is fine, but I'd have prefered him to come with holo versions of yoda and windu rather than that one specific scene with Anakin. May I ask you a question? I've yet to finally get my first figure, despite being obsessed with the hobby for a long time. Now that I am ready to I know that with regard to Star Wars figures I'd primarly like to collect the original trilogy figures, and due to budget probably only one version of each character for the foreseeable future. What is your advice about that? They're going to be difficult to find and cost much more, I assume. Most collectors seem to advise "don't collect backwards in time". What do you think? Unfortunately cost is definitely going to be a factor for me as it takes a long while to save up enough for these kind of prices. Thanks again for making these videos, I really look forward to them.
Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!! Regarding your ‘buying backwards’ question, it’s a tough one because everyone’s circumstances are different so there’s no right or wrong tactic. Personally I’d say if you want the earlier figures don’t let anyone dissuade you from chasing that goal 😃 So for me it took a while to take the plunge but I said to myself that Star Wars is my number one fave thing so I knew I’d want the early figures having arrived at the decision to collect a good while after their releases. I started by saying I’ll only buy one example of each character too but that fell by the wayside so it’s important to factor that possibility in! It’s also important to recognise that figures sometimes get reissued, although you’ll rarely see an EXACT re-release (we got 40th Anniversary re-releases for Vader, Boba etc) but usually they tend to be different. The new Bespin Luke announcement is a good example, some say it’s a reissue but it’s not it’s a completely different figure in my view. Same with the Shoretrooper(s). So if the threat of a reissue / close variant bothers you it’s worth taking that into consideration. Also worth asking if you’d spent a load of money on an older figure and it’s value suddenly dipped or it got re-issued, would you be bothered? If yes then again may need to be cautious as prices can go up and down. And for me it took a while to save up and sell my other collectibles to fund this, so I was prepared to play the long game! I hope that helps - sorry it was a bit long-winded but those were some of the thoughts I had when I started out anyway Keep in touch, let me know how you get on! 🙂
@@TK421Collectibles Thank you ever so much, TK, this was very interesting, extremely useful, and full of sound advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out like that. Yes, original trilogy is my thing, and that goal and focusing on collecting it would keep me satisfied for a very long time. Figure resale value is of no interest to me, because I put so much thought into buying beforehand due to having to be very careful with money that if I do buy it then it's because I know I really, really want it in my collection. Of course, never say never, because I know that for most collectors what eventually becomes the main issue is space to display pieces, so at that point some get sold to make way for others but that would be a long way down the road for me. You've given me some very solid advice to consider, thank you again, I am truly grateful.
Love this figure, but I have a hard time posing it (admittedly, I'm not the best poser). For some reason they just don't look natural. I wonder if anyone has used the baby in a Nativity scene?
Excellent new line of Trainspotting from Hot Toys there don't remember the robot running around Scotland get Diane next. I thought the Kenobi TV show was good but a few lame episodes with big plot holes. Nice figure TK 421 lad.
I hadn’t really fully appreciated this figure up to this point, but with your video today that’s changed ! what a great release this is, fantastic assortment of accessories that allow for so many looks on the shelf. The headsculpt is on point, that is Ewan McGregor for sure💥the articulation will let you do any pose you could wish for and the lack of a head join seam really does up the realism of this figure. As you say it is expensive in todays market but I hope and expect a new release capturing Ewan McGregors appearance as an older man and Hot Toys are so good in this age range as per your Count Dooku video, really hyped for the new show can’t get here soon enough🤩thanks for this video and look forward to more content when you get the chance, stay well (expecting my custom Rey lightsaber soon🤞)
Thanks Andrew! Yeah such as great figure and definitely got everything crossed for an older Ewan McGregor version from the new show like you say!! Cannot wait 😃 Yesss! Custom lightsaber incoming!! 😀
Excellent figure! Hopefully Hot Toys will do a new version! I would have liked to see a Phantom Menace version to go with Qui Gon. Thanks for the review…………I want one now !
Congrats on an awesome figure!! This definitely needs a reissue especially with new Kenobi series so many who missed out on this figure that's why prices are through the roof!!
I think it is safe to assume that any new Kenobi figure will be based on how he appears in the new series - he'll be older, and wearing different clothes.
