How do you count a quarter note with a dotted noted after that and how do u the opposite I want to know how to write it

Good question. If you have a quarter note followed by a dotted quarter then it is counted "one, two". Just remember that the dotted quarter takes up the space of three eighth notes so the next note/rest will start on the "and"/upbeat of beat three. If you have a dotted quarter followed by a quarter it is counted "one, and". Since the dotted quarter takes up the space of three eighth notes, beat two is silent/part of the dotted quarter. This is a great question. I might do a video about counting/writing dotted rhythms in the future!

Can you break down the 2/4 time for me. Why or how are there 2 beats over 4? Can you explain please. I played in a band, several years ago, for four consecutive years, but it was so long ago, I need a refresher. Also, could you remind me the timing for flagged notes and notes with dots next to them pretty please

Hey, I wonder where the sound of this intro is from... is this somehow a well known piece of a song? Or what is it? I hope you can help me :)

@dasdawidt Great question. It's not from a song, but it is the sound that an orchestra makes as they are warming up/getting ready for a performance. Woodwinds are making sure the keys on their instruments are ready. Brass is playing some long tones to keep their embouchures ready. And the strings are making some final tuning adjustments.

Odd Quartet Ooh! Now everything makes sense! I knew it from a song called 'Life is beautiful' that begins with exactly that and I was really confused about it when I heared your intro :D
