70's was when the compressor took over and if you wanted to mimic a cash sound you could probs still use one to replicate the bite of older gear

You know what prevents these compression demonstrating videos from really showing what's happening? RU-vid's inherent compression. I wish it wasn't there so we could truly hear the difference between compressed audio and uncompressed audio. Doesn't matter if it's guitar or vocals or drums, RU-vid compresses audio when the video creator's compressor is off. The ice-pick attack on Teles and a lot of Strats doesn't come through on here. It doesn't do the video creator justice after all the hard work they've done!

What I heard from an unusual guitar like an old melody maker or Les Paul junior w a single pickup like a beginners guitar back in the day but sound a lot like a fender twang Kind of strange I thought thinking I might pick one up used to see em in pawn shops all the time n thought they were junk but a lot of famous people have used them Billy Gibbons and others started out with the cheaper versions. I started with a Kay guitar thought they were junk but the sucker stayed in tune. So who's to say as in one mans garbage is another mans gold.

I can’t play a telecaster without one. It keeps the string volume all evened out. Without it the G string barks out louder than the other strings which drives me nuts. With compression on I don’t have to worry about it. Of course it also adds the “ snap and pop” to the guitar tone

I like that snappy chicken picin sound but unfortunately I messed up my index finger so Idont know if Ill even be able to play anymore its healed but still painful maybe I should try steel pedal but not sure I wanna go there either. But I started playing rock bass n was having trouble with speed so I quit using a pick n found it easier and faster took a while just fingering I imagine guitar to be similar funny how we learn things but switching from guitar to bass occasionally I believe can help both.

What are these pickups??

I just got one of these, and I wasn't impressed. It seemed to suck the tone from my amp. It sounded way better with it off. Any settings I should try to really bring out the character of the pedal?

Initially I wanted one of these, but after doing my research I opted for a Wampler Ego compressor which is waaay quieter when using it with higher gain.
