Love your enthusiasm for all things English It must be mind blowing for you to think Hopwood Hall is over 200 years older than all the USA Hopwood Hall can be better than most halls when finnish. The smell of the roses in the rose garden at Hopwood Old Hall as it was known in 90s was amazing all colours and smells Id sit on the steps in the spring doing revision for my Alevels The steps where the place to do it could be 8 people or more doing same in silence think Lady Susan approved, you could feel her approval She walks the steps and Rose Garden looks like a whole person in old clothes not see-through. Keep going. You are doing wonderful.

I the 1970's the De La Salle college descriptor said "set in the 80 acre grounds of Hopwood Hall" - Though the sunken rose garden, lawns and old coach way lined with rhododendron to the hall were well kept, off the beaten track was often overgrow - up behind the modern chapel new shrubs had been planted and there were various modern metal sculptures on plinths - There was a walled herb garden near the Hall.

Have you been to Mapperton? It is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Sandwich. Their son and his American born wife are doing some creative things to support their home.

I've seen the picture of Rowland Egerton-Warburton because of our ancestry book Warburtons of Warburton and Arley. Cool to see the hall!

I heard about the place through my mom who along with her siblings were eligible to purchase the place. We of course lived in America so this wasn't feasible. But am happy it's being restored. My cousin considered purchasing about 4 or 5 years ago. But didn't. It would have been nice. Maybe someday I will see it.

Well I was so surprised Hopwood you seem nothing like the advert put you across. Someone lost in Hollywood life. The plane scene I found the people around you totally obnoxious and I wonder if they would come over and help you out in the derelict Hopwood Hall and enjoy that as much but I think not. Hopwood I think if these ppl come knocking once you have it up and running use that peep hole and tell those whom hang on your cuffs for a good time to sling their hook. You seem down to earth and very kind. This is my perception and us Scots don't normally get that wrong. Plz don't let such people around you it shows you in the wrong light. Keep up great work.
