In a way, this music video is haunting because many people in this concert have lost their lives because of Vietnam, they even admit it, singing that they’re gonna die. I hope for all who have served in Vietnam and for those who didn’t make it, I hope you are resting in peace.

First time I heard it a neighbor had been drafted and had to report on a Monday. On Saturday they had the biggest party for him. It overflowed into the streets and alleys and they blasted this song through the neighborhood. Someone called the cops and they came, saw the situation, stuck around for a little bit, then left.

I think we need some Country Joe McDonald (a.k.a. Country Joe and the Fish): "Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag." Not so much for the music as for the message and the way it captures the Vietnam protest era, and you can see him performing live at Woodstock to hundreds of thousands of hippies.

I love this song! It the epitome of the Vietnam war. And if you change just a few words it can apply to Libya! I did exactly that today and it was really a lot of fun. Its not that hard to do, it just takes a while. Thanks for posting this classic song! PEACE! :)

0:46 this guy’s expression seems to be the only who ‘gets’ what everyone’s singing about; Country Joe himself said it wasn’t necessarily as much an anti-war song as it was an anti-establishment song.

When you get older you realize the emotional cost (drugs, unemployment, family strife) of returning guys messed up and the $ cost to the tax payers. When you're young it's "let's win this and kill 'em all!" I used to think like that.

Had to look this song up after i heard part of it in the movie Hamburger Hill. If you haven't seen it i highly suggest it. One of the truest vietnam movies out there.😊

Many of the ones giving opinions don't realize how the Vietnam era was. The was a draft. If your birthday was called, you were most likely to head there. The US was afraid of Vietnam being communist. (In 1995 the US finally accepted that it was and is a communist country. People spit on, hit, punched soldiers when they came home. Some were called "baby killers" for firebombing villages, the USA consisted of WWII veterans yelling at "the cowards" that didn't want to go. Soldiers were given herion to help them cope. It was a mess. That's whyit's important to root for the soldiers even if you don't agree with the war. Protests, fights, hatred, etc. That was what the Vietnam era was about. One of the few things Nixon did was to remove the draft, established a selective service, and focused on creating a large all-volunteer arm forces.
