Do you get paid to be a look out for fires ? I would like to know how you obtained the property , how much the tower cost in total and info on the basic cost to live in it. It's a great review of these Tiny houses but the important thing is info on how to find them , where they are zoned for and not zoned for. I enjoy the walk through , but doesn't provide details of how people can get started to live in one. I've already found that in my area , the Township is not having these Tiny houses. That is where it gets frustrating. I wish the Tiny movement would get moving on doing seminars to answer many questions like mine and so many people have asked me the same.
@Eyagsf

The bigger the house...the higher the property tax revenue. Zoning, HOAs, etc....😩 The big money roller coaster.
@k.m.9418
@k.m.9418 6 лет назад
From my understanding, if you want tiny homes in your township you gotta get the board to allow it. That means YOU have to do some work and try to get them to agree and push zoning laws. Probably start out with why they don't allow it and propose solutions as to those?

@flyerjack1548
@flyerjack1548 4 года назад
Gomler Gomlerovic ... probably true but that’s also sort of the point ... you don’t want anything to grow there ... it’s part of a relatively large clear space (sometimes called “defensible space”) which is kept clear of anything that could burn, so if there is a fire passing through ... it will (hopefully) pass by without catching this structure on fire. So not really a problem. :)

I was a little confused as to what that grounded stool thing actually does? Would anybody be able to better explain it to me it's really cool looking stool
@jkocol
@jkocol 5 лет назад
Fire towers were prone to lightening strikes. The landline they used to report fires was a grounded system. So if the tower was struck by lightening while the ranger was on the phone the current could flow through the building, through the ranger, and through the phone to ground. To break that link the ranger stood on the stool and it would isolate the them from the building he was standing in.

I stumbled on this video ....well really I was subbed so fate brought it.....LOL The video is a piece of art and the philosophy near the end was life changing for me. My wife and I have been camping and travel explorer's since 1965 and all our experience brings us to our final 15 year trip onto Vancouver Island and all of British Columbia. I struggled with the Toyota tundra regular cab that I was ready to buy in 2019 when we were leaving but production stopped and I can only get a 2016 base with no 4x4. The video helped me realize were to get the money from in our silver stash and it told me that I know how to get unstuck and even avoid some of that. THANK YOU .....and we will be getting rid of all our art and collections of 35 years.

How can your channel have up to season 4 of great contents about alternate living and not have more subscribers? That blows my mind how stupid people would rather crowd up on stupid channels like unboxing bullshit stuff than learning how to live. Anyway, I subbed to your channel because i find it inspiring and beautiful.

I'd love it to live in a fire lookout! We lived one winter in an 18x26ft. Log cabin in Alaska, our daughter was a newborn at the time. We actually had a hanging bed that gave us extra foot room and a " honey bucket" on our porch that we'd take to the outhouse to dump. Our power was propane and we burned wood for heat, we had a hot springs to haul water from with our snow machine. One of my favorite memories was of going outside in 40 below zero weather to stuff filling in the cracks of the cabin where slivers of light showed through.. The Aurora Borealis was out in full color and was truly spectacular!!! The memories of that year are really precious to us!!!! Cheryl

This has got to be THE most beautiful house I've ever seen. ..I have the land and I am building a cabin but I really don't see my nephew (who's doing much of the hard stuff) putting it on a platform for me...also we regularly get 125mph winds (from Russia, with love lol!) tearing down hundreds of trees every winter so even if I did manage to get it on stilts I don't fancy my chances of staying there long after seeing how far the wind took the roof of our sawmill shed last Christmas! I just hope it never hit anyone or anything living on it's way!

In South Western Oregon There's an old fire Look out still standing in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, the "Quail Prairie Lookout". It's located some 30 miles up the North Bank of the Chetco River in Brookings Oregon. The lookout is pretty rundown, but years ago the forest service use to rent it out for people to stay in. It would be nice to see it and similar places in Oregon either enter private hands and be restored or for the Forest Service to restore it for public use at a nominal nightly/daily fee. What about putting the bathroom, like a composting toilet under the main living area, it won't ruin the view. Not a builder, not sure if a million Peopl have already thought of this and its just not easily possible but...just in case...... Love the lookout, BTW.

This Watch tower house is the inspiration of the hq/homebase of Deacon St. John and Boozer in "Days Gone" video game, which centered on Oregon. It is very cool indeed to have a house like this. Make the stairs retractable and this thing is zombie proof :D Sucks though to have a diarrhea there. While a biodigester tank or a compost would have been great for their toilets.

Reckon sending waste bag containers via a well greased zip line cable anchored to an open latrine pit located on the most down wind side of the tower would be a feasabilty for both types of waste deposits sent together due to the more produced urine's weight. Then fill the deposits in as needed & relocate the zip line's anchor to a freshly dug latrine pit. Any way that's about how damn lazy i'd be on the matter. 31818

I have a neghew named Daylan! I have no idea if you did this on purpose or not do you see the eye in the mountain looking at you? I think that is Mother Earth looking (Mother Nature if offended by the more Wiccan term) over you! I hope you still have/use that painting because as long as you do she will keep her eye on you and nothing truly bad will happen!

This is interesting but a bit silly in its impracticality. All that money spent and you have to go down 66 stairs and walk a (seemingly at night) quarter of mile in the cold into the dangerous pitch black woods to a toilet that is not enclosed and sit...again, in the cold wet elements. Pissing off the balcony. Pure class. Design laziness at its best.

To me this is a massive fire hazard. You gotta at least have a zip line to get to safety.... and because it’s a fricken’ zip line!!!

Such a cool home. Only problem is it is in Oregon where the clouds block their view for around 9 months of the year.

I would say they ace of bass’ed building that home big time, if not for the bathroom and the one and only voyeuristic shower.
