Bea the beagle is adorable and she knows it! She was adopted as the last of her litter, because of her cleft lip and palate. But Max and Madita knew she was the one for them. They do have to clean her lip sometimes and watch her closely but she lives a normal happy life with lots of love and attention

Bea will be your friend for life, no judgements, just wants your love. We have four Beagles, three rescues and our senior(just turned 13)whom we’ve had since he was five weeks old. They are the best part of our lives.

Many years ago, my Westie was ageing, so I decided to get her a companion. When I went to see some Westies, there were several bouncing around, yapping, trying to get my attention. However, in the corner, there was a smaller pup. She quietly looked at me, and my heart melted. Despite opposition, I came away with the runt of the litter. What I noticed about her was how, right through her unfortunately short life, she was so grateful for any attention that she got. She required a lot of care, but never did I regret my decision. She was part of my family for 9 loving years and brought way more joy than heartache. Never be put off taking into your own family any animal with special needs.

Beagles are some of the best friends you will ever have. Only be very careful. My last beagle ate palm seeds and we ended up having to put down. Palm seeds Sagos and others are extremely poisonous to animals and children. If you have palm trees that drop seeds make sure you always pickup and dispose of the seeds. Bea is beautiful and reminds me of our beagle that we lost. Shalom

Sweet Bea is so lucky to have you as her family! I have a service dog, and during my training with her, I was taught to never allow her to ride on an escalator. They are really dangerous for dogs and can catch nails, toes, tails, and other body parts in their mechanisms and cause serious injury.

Bea is adorable. I grew up with beagles. My pop used to breed his beagles (not to sell) once in awhile. Ill never forget laying in the green grass on a summer day with 10 little Beagle puppies licking me and bitting my toes. Great memory. Gotta warn you though, beagles have a mind of their own. They can be very bull headed. But I never came across a mean beagle. They are always so loveable.

In humans this is commonly corrected by surgery with really great results. So maybe that is an option for her too?

I imagine the surgery is expensive. If it is not a health concern, then ultimately it is not necessary. Everyone appears to be happy here

Who would possible reject a dog as a family companion based on a minor minor cosmetic difference?? All dogs are the best dogs they can possibly be with the right loving person ! ❤

Actually, while the lip is pretty much cosmetic, a cleft palate (an opening between the mouth and the sinus) can be a serious medical issue. Dogs with this condition can have trouble feeding (they may aspirate their food; puppies can't get the suction necessary to suckle), be prone to sinus/respiratory infections, and other medical complications. The medical (and emotional) expense of such potential issues is definitely something a potential adopter should seriously consider. But yes, one shouldn't pass a pup over simply for having an adorably wonky face. 🙃

Escalators are dangerous for dogs, just like small children. Never train your dog to use an escalator, especially because you don't want Bea to have to go through life with cleft toes. Even service dogs are taught to avoid escalators and use normal stairs or elevators. So always, as already shown, lift your dog on an escalator. Good luck and have fun with Bea!

One can't judge by looks. There's a lot of other things to consider. Just try to ensure the dog is the right fit, regardless of how it looks. Shelter pets provide much luv and companionship in return beyond belief. Also, plz be patient since it takes an average of 3 months for shelter pets to adjust to their new surroundings and new owners.

It can actually be dabgerous for dogs to go on escalators without protective shoes on, as their nails can get caught in the teeth of the step, and their tail can get caught in the side of the escalator and get degloved. Please be careful.
