3:44 Dale Steyn.... A legend probably the best bowler of our generation. Batsman were feared of him what a bowler he was.

The 3 inch tapered "spike" that is driven into the ground holds the stump fairly firmly (like a tennis ball wouldn't deflect it). ofcourse the clay that makes up the pitch is baked and rolled to a hard consistency also for the ball to bounce so well on it. But what groundsmen like to do is water the holes where the stumps go in, making that piece of ground softer and thus allowing the spectacular stumps flying to happen. Occasionally one might break - especially the middle one that has the camera inserted into it.

2:42 That's from the famous 2005 Aahes series. The Batsman is Michael Clarke & the Bowler is Simon Jones. The thing about that Ball is that if you look closely at the Seam direction on the Ball you'll see it was actually supposed to go in other direction. But this is what's called a Reverse Swing, the Ball instead went the opposite direction of its natural inclination & it went sharp too. The Batsman knowing the Seam direction didn't expected the Ball to come inwards & therefore was simply leaving the Ball for which he paid the price. Personally this is my most favourite part of Cricket, watching Stumps getting knocked off Ìi̊Í like that & the sound it makes just sounds like music to me.

Cricket is a thrilling game with lots of variety flying stamps , bouncers , run outs, and every bowler action is different from others.

I loved watching this flying stumps video :-) you can imagine the combination… A fast bowler bowling anything up to express pace of 80-90mph with a hard leather stitched ball and the batter not standing a chance it would uproot any of the stumps being hit with such force. Also in the 1980’s the awesome West Indies team were feared as they had a battery of fast bowlers that could wreak havoc on any team, my team England suffered a few heavy test series defeats against them including a brutal 5-0 whitewash in 1984 (I think it was). The Windies the best team in the 80’s and then Australia ruled the roost in the 90’s as they had an awesome team stacked with some of the best players. Keep up the learning of this wonderful sport, your knowledge and appreciation of it is really showing through. Enjoy watching the T20 World Cup in America and the Caribbean.

Stumps also fly because of the condition of the soil; if its loose, its easier for the stumps to be uprooted.. If the soil is tight, sometimes, just the bails fly instead.. Also, the pace of the ball, and the angle with which it hits the stumps..

most of these guys were bowling at a speed of 145 Kmph + and believe me u have less than one second to respond and its really not easy, thats y its so difficult even for the professionals sometimes to perform wen they r out of touch. Its quite a difficult game, i would say much more difficult than football, tennis. I have tried most of the games but cricket is really really hard.

There was nothing quite like seeing middle stump going for a walk and dragging the camera aerial with it after being hit by a fast delivery. Then they made everything so compact that it all fits inside the stump with loads of LEDs. Still looks amazing but its missing something I feel
