Worth noting this was probably the least heavy and aggressive song on their first album. An awesome track that introduced me to a band I've followed for over two decades.
@GeneralChaunce
@GeneralChaunce 7 месяцев назад
Definitely, and this live recording is a watered-down version of the original song from the album. My favorites from that album are a tie between "(sic)" and "Eyeless." Those are proper Slipknot songs.

@@viking_nortechnically, yes, but since most of the members changed from mfkr to s/t and the two are so different people tend to consider mfkr a demo and s/t their first "real" album

It must be said that this is the radio version with all the screaming layers mixed out of the verses. That makes it seem much tamer.
@Fez135

The thing that made Slipknot heavy at the time was because it was so raw! It wasn't super guttural or anything. It was really bare, not especially well produced initially, dark/weird/creepy lyrics. Just 90s teenage angst distilled into a record.
@Antiguan2222
@Antiguan2222 7 месяцев назад
@fez135 and to ur pount about creepy lyrics that was why they had to remove 3-4 songs like eeyore,scissors,purity(one of my all time favourite songs by slipknot) and i think one other one that i can't remember the name of from that record and they rereleased the record without those songs because of the messed up lyrical content
@FlyboyHelosim
@FlyboyHelosim 7 месяцев назад
@@Antiguan2222 The songs you're talking about are 'Purity' and its intro 'Frail Limb Nursery', and they weren't removed because of creepy lyrics but because of copyright infringement.
@Antiguan2222
@Antiguan2222 7 месяцев назад
@@FlyboyHelosim actually that was one of the reasons they remove those songs was disturbing lyrical content on top of dupposed copyright infringment
@FlyboyHelosim
@FlyboyHelosim 7 месяцев назад
@@Antiguan2222 Well you're the first person I've ever heard say that, so I'll stick with the official narrative which was copyright infringement.

In the South they often bring out giant water hoses during summer festivals. As it gets wicked hot and they spary the crowd down so people dont get heat stroke.

this song holds a special place in my heart. My dad raised me on zeppelin and sabbath ect. i remember when i was about 16 i showed him this. he had a badass stereo system. we had it on full blast. He half way through it all was jumping up and down and went "Son I fucking get it!" It was a bonding i will never forget.

Keep in mind this is the edited “radio friendly” version that is more melodic and less screaming than the album version.

I really like your story of your introduction to "Slipknot." Mine was so random. I'm a few years older than you, but my friend was working at a Ticketmaster/CD store, and someone dropped off a bunch of demos for "Slipknot's" first album. My friend brought it to another friend's house that night, and it blew us away! Such a great addition to metal!

"Nu Metal" started its popularity with Korn and Disturbed. It denotes Hiphop/Rap in a Metal song. "Prog Metal" with Tool and System of a Down and denotes a progressive vocalist.

Oh shit, Ash has never heard of Kittie?!?! Ok, that just became a required listen for her dude, seriously. Start with Brackish and/or Spit, then What I always Wanted - its where they started. If you're a Pantera fan and know the synergy with the Abbott brothers, the same applies wit the Lander sisters, Morgan and Mercedes. All female band and very heavy, always been a fan of Kittie.

Fun fact, the Iowa album was actually produced in conjunction with the Iowa state tourism department, and it uses clever subliminal messaging to convince people to visit the state. When i listened to this album for the first time i grew a strong urge to visit Dubuque and the Field of Dreams site.

I knew that telegram shit were bots, I never did click on them, lol. And I still listen to Kittie, especially their "Oracle" album. I think Ash might like those metal chicks from Canada 😆 Btw Dave, I'll be 38 next month, you and I probably got into hard rock/metal at the same time. Right when Godsmack came out in '98, Metallica was my first favorite metal band. You are right. Late 90's, early 2000's was an awesome time to be a metalhead.
