Jimin from the beginning of their careers was one of the most attacked members of BTS and all that hate affected him a lot, I feel that this MV is a catharsis of that past, how he leaves everything behind to be himself no matter what they say, what Even if you continue to receive that hate, you will no longer allow it to affect your life. It's beautiful, artistic and strong message.

Jimin is reminding me of when MJ (BAD era) went solo and was able to express his true individual creativity! Great reaction!

Some of the things I noticed throughout the video is that Jimin loses pieces of his costume little by little like his jewellery and shirt, as if he was "a burning phoenix shedding its feathers" and at the end you see him in all white like this is a celebration of rebirth. And the choreo at the end where the dancers lift him up is a reference to his choreo for his song Lie. In Lie however, even when his feet were on the ground he was still "caught in a lie" like still trapped and trying to fight it even as the performance was ending but now he's "finally free". Even in the beginning we can see that Jimin is in control as he controls the moves of the dancers - he is in control of his "shadow". And one thing I absolutely LOVE and won't shut up about is the use of autotune to represent his "shadow". In Interlude: Shadow by Suga and BTS's Black Swan autotune is used to represent their shadow. It's like there are two versions of Jimin (the rap parts and the singing parts) and Jimin faces his "shadow" in this song. I also love how it doesn't really sound like Jimin is pleading to be freed or asking to be free - He's demanding it after all he's gone through it's his right, he deserves it and he won't let anything stand in his way of getting it The painting on his chest is a German poem by Rainer Maria Rilke: I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. I won't, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. It's really reminiscent of John Constantine's "visit" to hell to find out if the twin sister was really there. That scene is truly epic, all those demons trying to pull him back To this day, my favorite movie that I keep watching every few years and still discovering new things. In Jimin's case, it now feels like instead of pulling him down, his demons are lifting him up. What's that saying : if you can't fight your demons, make friends with them? I think that's why he used his full voice in this song, and that's why we are all shocked, we were waiting for Jimin's sweet voice and him told us to go away with full voice and all the haters! He's a man he chooses to be, not one we decide. I'm really glad he slapped many in the face!! I love you jiminshii!!!! Yes, this is overwhelming. So many things happening in MV and His vocals oh my fucking JIMIN what you're doing to us❗

The backup dancers symbolize his captors in the beginning. You see them clamoring until the moment jimin announces "eh". And then there are a war march and he marches through them. You see them pointing and trying to keep him down. And slowly he starts winning them over as they raise their hands up to the past him and set him free. Beautiful artistic music video that incorporates a lot of the drama from his contemporary dance background. Piece of art... beautiful.

The words oh his chest are from a german poem from the 1890's and tie into the song. Part has to do with sugas interlusde song jimin linked the 2. He is simply saying he is free doesn't care about the haters or anyone trying to stand in his way. He has found himself and is free to be who he is. As a kpop artist he couldn't be his true self he had to be cute with no flaws they all did. I think right now they are all free and showing their true selves as artists in each of their own rights. Even in the music video, there are many movements that seem like Jimin is trapped in a maze among the cool group dances, and I think I wanted to emphasize this more by engraving Rilke poem on my body.

I think our boy is finally speaking out against the haters, the death threats, the control by the label and the kpop industry in general.
