Jim that is fantastic. When you get finished ~ you and Ben need to come to my house. Ben can organize my shop and we can build a conservatory on the back of my house. Looking forward to your progress.

None for this fixed. Check with Google . But because it's not inside the house you don't need any . Just don't change windows or current external doors

How mate, could you please tell me how did you mix the concrete? What was the ratio between cement and sand. Also did you put limestones in it?

Cement mixer . I chucked shovel fulls of sand and cement in and added water .. no lime , that would weaken it . Mix for base standard .. 5 ballast 1 cement .

Interesting. My m8 (ex RAF Carpenter) has agreed to build me a timber large Conservatory. Any recommendation for which type of wood? How thick was UR concrete base pls?

Construction grade timber like I used . The concrete under the original patio was 8 tons ... So I used just a 4 inch thick base . No need for anything more sitting on that amount beneath it .

Might be a stupid question… but is your row of bricks laid on top of the patio slabs?

Yep . Those patio slabs are 2 inches thick , weigh 35 kgs each , under those patio slabs is 8 tons of concrete . Normally you would have to put a footing in .
