some trainers told that when uncoupling trailer , leave atleast 2,3 inches space from the ground (trailer jacks).. but you have totally down the trailer jacks to the ground ..?? can you please explain this
Real trucking life scenario ... keep landing gear 2-3 inch above ground for tge next guy... Sometimes shunters don't leave enough space between trailers or area is muddy or flooded.
Hello Elite Truck Driving Academy, My name is Stephen James and I am a Certified Evaluator, Instructor and I have been driving trucks for almost 50 years, with about 5,000,000 miles of Accident-Free driving. No disrespect, but these days, it amazes me, that the MTO would pass beginner drivers, with training like that, and I am sure that driver has about 5 to 10 years of experience. Don't get me wrong, there are some good pointers, but for the most part, if I was doing what you are doing, I would not allow a Newbie to do a Road Test with that little type of information. One very obvious rule is that there is supposed to be nothing on that catwalk and yet you have a bungee cord there. In your yard, you can do as you please, but as soon as you are on the road, then you're at the mercy of the MTO and or Cops. Uncoupling and Coupling are wrong, and you could fail simply by doing what this driver has done. Checking the airbrakes for leaks, 10 to 15 seconds is not long enough. You might hear the supply line that fast, but the service line whether by foot or spike, that application of the brakes out of the blue line, can take a tad longer, and you make no mention of how to repair the leak. You mentioned the Nuts & Bolts, holding the 5th wheel together, but no mention of the 5th Wheel Blocker and its condition. I understand that the video is about Coupling & Uncoupling, and you're not the first I have commented on, but if you're going to do such a video, then get it right, lives depend on you, and always remember that halfway, is still wrong.
When you uncoupled and turn tractor to the left and came out,you only need to tell slider is locked jaw is open and check 360degree so that mean you have to come back from front of the tractor, you mention lots of thing like glad hand seals fifth wheel secure both lines electric lines etc.
