Of those successfully prosecuted, I wonder how many have learnt their lesson. An unsatisfactory percentage, I suspect. Still, it's got to be worth the effort because of those who do change their behaviour.

Back in the days of the Met safer neighborhood teams we were issued lovely Smith and Wesson mountain bikes with all the Gucci cycling gear. It was so easy to issue mobile phone f.p.n. plus other crimes, and a visible polic presence. Now we have to get civilians to do the job. 😢

I notice that you’re allowed to park both with and against traffic. Is that so in the UK because in Sweden it’s a parking offence to park against traffic

Yes. You can park in either direction.

In the UK it’s okay during the day. However, you cannot park against the flow of traffic at night unless in a recognized parking space. Personally, I would avoid parking against the flow of traffic at any time of day in a car as your view is often very restricted and you have to rely on others to make things safe and let you out.

Its Illegal at night to face the wrong way unless you are in a proper parking place. Rule 248 H.C. Or driving a BMW with the flashing lights of absolution engaged, I think.

Ive just had this video recommended to me as I do watch videos that concern road safety. I’m a fully qualified ADI and I instill road safety attitudes for all with not only my learners but the PDIs that I instruct. For me improving road safety is about improving everyone’s attitude towards making the roads a safer place for everyone. I appreciate whilst you reporting drivers that aren’t obeying the rules or don’t have awareness may bring convictions, does this help improve people’s attitudes overall on sharing the road space that none of us own? This is the first video of yours I’ve watched but it comes across as a negative attitude towards other road users rather than promoting being safe and aware for everyone. I’m interested in hearing your response to my thoughts as, maybe, your actions and mindset may help me instruct my students better. I’d genuinely like to meet and discuss this if you’re willing?

1:35 - As someone from Sweden - aka not from England, i would assume that parking on a bike-lane or a yellow like is not allowed. Is this correct? Cause now when all of them have parked on the left side, all cars have to drive on the middle of the road to surpass them :/

Highway Code rule 140 : "Cycle lanes and cycle tracks. Cycle lanes are shown by road markings and signs. You MUST NOT drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a solid white line during its times of operation. Do not drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a broken white line unless it is unavoidable. You MUST NOT park in any cycle lane whilst waiting restrictions apply."

Basically, broken lines means that it is a token cycle lane so that the local authority can feel good about themselves "providing" active travel improvements towards their net zero targets all whilst not reducing car parking spaces

Where there are yellow lines, there should probably nit be any cars parked. Parking restrictions can be limited to specific times and day (9-5 Mon-Sun). But where there is no yellow line(s) and the cycle lane is NOT marked with a solid line. You can park freely. Which largely makes the cycle lane a total waste of money as it is unusable and unsafe.

I fitted a mirror to one of my bikes and its the most cost-effective safety thing I ever did. I always thought they were a bit unnecessary but I can't recommend getting one enough, despite how effective your neck is! You get a total appreciation of what's going on behind and around you just by glancing down. For some reason I have far fewer close passes than before getting my mirror. Could be because as cars approach not only is my bike a tiny bit wider but the mirror reflects the sky (as well as my smiling face) so it almost looks like a light, highlighting the edge of my bike. Mrs Drivelikeyouknowthem has now got one too and feels the same.

Car REG NO: LD, either I or 1 8 DUB - dark coloured car the first one you past by, was that driver on her phone, or, was it the passenger, was very hard to make out, can't work out if the the drivers left hand is on the gear-stick or on using the phone. That white car was a DEFINITELY in use of a mobile phone. Yeah, that's the look of "CATURED" right there. Nice one Mikey.

"You MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow unless in a recognised parking space" never heard anyone get fined for parking against the traffic in the UK. Outside of London you can park pretty much anywhere - bus lanes, cycle lanes, pedestrian crossing, in front of schools, grass verges, on the pavement. Can block the whole pavement and force pedestrians on the street, police wont care.
