You made the right choice choosing the Courtney video! Of course, that's only about half of the song. Courtney's close to releasing her album this year.
Yes, I love this! I can't stop watching it and I love it more every time. Great observations about Courtney's performance. Unfortunately, I'm sure this was her only solo. There were twenty something performers and about 2 or 3 maybe did more than one song. There are snippets of her in the beautiful red dress from her red carpet photo, on the stage with the whole cast for the finale, That's What Friends Are For, with Dionne Warwick. From there she traveled to Minnesota with her producer Kevin Bowe, who accompanied her to the concert, to finish recording her long awaited solo album at his studio there, so that's done and should be out very soon. She also launched her new easy to navigate website, with pages for tour dates and merch, just waiting for their first posts. It's just been a thrilling month or more for Courtney and her fans!
Second that, on everything you said here. Courtney and every other artist were only on stage while Dione Warwick sang that finale. But they did put Courtney in her beautiful red dress front and center right next to Dione and what's that guys name again? Oh yeah, Barry Manilow. People went nuts for Courtney not only the standing O she got when she finished but during the whole performance right from the 1st few seconds she started.
Good comments. You got to watch the whole video from her introduction for Clive Davis to open the show, until her standing ovation when she finished performing. I doubt many knew much if anything about Courtney in the audience, but they sure did afterwards. I would bet they went searching all about her later.
There was plenty of our Courtz in there too. More this time, yet still plenty of Janice for Clive Davis, the man who 'discovered' and first signed Janice Joplin way back when. Must admit, I'm more partial to Courtney than to Janice. Like what she learned from Tina Turner, James Brown, and Etta James, too.
