I've always loved this song. "You owe me one more shot to prove to you that I'm so much better than him" is such an amazing line. No idea what it means, but it fires me up.
JazGalaxy I love it too. To Courtney it's probably a reverence to all the shit she took for being 'Just Cobain's nutcase wife'. But in the broader context it's more like someone who screwed up one to many times, pleading for one more chance to make it right. To show everyone your full potential. It's about being knocked clear across the room by live, looking the beast in the eye and saying 'Get back here you ugly fuck, I'm not done with you yet!'
I agree. And I love this song. It makes me think back to when I lived in North Hollywood and I would be driving on the 101 freeway, just loving the driving :)
I agree. She behaved appallingly when she was promoting it, and the album just got panned out of spite, proving the old saying "There is no such thing as bad publicity" is wrong.I believe that she was convinced by the criticism that it was a bad album, but I honestly think it is a great rock album.
For sure. a really big part of the hate she gets comes from the misogyny thing. If she wasn't kurt widow, she would be a BIG THING. And if she was a man, Hole easily would kick soundgarden, pearl jam and alice in chains asses.......she would be face to facr with nirvana. Have you realized how raw, bold and creative she is? Shes the rock'n roll itself.
I love Courtney, always have since the early 90's. Sure she may be a mess, but she owns thst shit and was never shy to admit it, which is more than I can say about others...Rock on Courtney!!
@@cityfantv-everythingmancit2946 geez dude let it go already. He obviously wasn't in control of his life, he's dead, couldn't handle life. I like Nirvana and Hole/Courtney Love. Enjoy the music and don't be a prick. Obviously you're just trolling or you wouldn't even comment.
@@smelllikeufarted2276 predictable comment. Of course she used (still uses?) plastic surgery, but I think she is the kind of person who is young inside. This is also why she looks younger, because she is young and a mess inside!
***** I wouldn't say that. Just so you know, photos are done up and enhanced and same thing with video. They edit the videos to make the appearance look better. They did it with Whitney Houston at the MJ anniversary concert when she was cracked out.
Doyledeth The plastic surgery-"free" Courtney you're referring to already had at least a major nose job. It all started before "Pretty On The Inside" (1991) was released. Before that, she wasn't much to look at, and she knew that. And she also knew she needed a pretty face to succeed in the music industry, and Eric agreed. Courtney was the most beautiful in the mid 90's and late 90's.
This woman is perfect example of self strength, confidence & drive for music. Courtney love Cobain is amazing, all the haters out there are just ignorant & jealous! They can’t take her down 👍
@@sofagameplayes6548 I love how people go out of their way to not only search for something, but also go through 100 comments to say they don't care. B*tch your actions say other wise, people are a riot. Such bitter bitter jealousy
Despite Courtney being at one of the lowest points of her life with drugs while she was creating this album (America's Sweetheart), this record is surprisingly great! It's pure Punk Rock and it's a lot of fun! Sucks that it didn't well on the charts. Even Courtney considers this record to be a disaster. I disagree. I love it. Almost every song is great! But Julian, I'm a bit too old for you Mono Hold On To Me Sunset Strip Uncool I'll Do Anything Hello She's such an underrated & unappreciated artist! In my opinion, she's hasn't released a bad album. Even her last record, which sadly didn't do well either (Nobody's Daughter) is also great!
This song came out when I was 12 I remember seeing this video on Fuse and becoming obsessed with her. It sucks she's so ashamed of this album, I really loved it.
@Sapo Podcast She was in a very dark time during the making/recording of this album. She'd just turned forty, survived a suicide attempt, was in some pretty serious legal trouble, the media was tearing her apart, and she was the butt of every joke. This was around the time she was photographed by paparazzi with her breasts out, and a random guy sucking on her nipple, she was a guest on the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson, but instead of roasting, she was roasted, and humiliated. Someone on that show made a comment about her drug use, and she replied by miming a snorting gesture, the show was seen by her parole officer, and she got in trouble for having drugs in her system while on probation. During the making of this album she rented a really beautiful mansion, and holed up there for six months while on a really severe drug binge. She wasn't in a good place, it wasn't many years after her husband's suicide, which she never took the time off of work to properly grieve, she just kept working, and working. The two albums she made with Hole after Kurt's death were very successful, and well received. This was her first solo effort after her friendship with Eric Erlandson ended, and it wasn't received well by the public. She recently posted something on Twitter where she refered to this record as "her life's greatest shame". I have to say, even though I feel a lot of nostalgia listening to it because it was the first time I'd ever heard her, I listen to it less often than any of her other work. I saw her live two times in 2010 when she was touring for Nobody's Daughter, and she didn't perform one song from America's Sweetheart at either show. Anyway, I'll shut up now. I'm just a really big fan. Don't take everything I said as absolute fact, I mean, I know all of this stuff happened, but my timeline might be a little off. If you haven't seen the documentary titled "The Return of Courtney Love" you should check it out, it was made during the Nobody's Daughter era, so she might have talked a little about America's Sweetheart in it. Also, if you're a fan I highly recommend buying her book "Dirty Blonde" it's the best source of information on her life, and creative process I've ever found, and I probably own every book ever written about the woman.
@@b.mcknight8686 thank you very much for the info, I was never a fan, I mean I don't know much about her but somewhere in my teen years I heard this song on TV and today I remembered it so many years later. So I know nothing and your info is an awesome summing up
@@Skelevon_gaming right kurt wrote a song "I hate myself and I wanna die" but he wasn't suicidal. And I'm sure he'd LOVE the way his "fans" talk shit about and accuse his wife and mother of his child.
@@jessemonster7292 Absolutely! It amazes me that all these so called Kurt fans seem to know nothing about the man at all! He would despise and want to kill anyone of these nuts that disparage his wife in any way, shape or form! HE loved her.. It was HIS choice. Nobody forced Kurt to love Courtney. When they say such nasty and false things about Courtney they might as well be spitting in Kurt's face. It makes no sense. So , thank you for your message and speaking up! Much love from Paris, Pia Paradis xoxoxoxo
@piaparadis1253 EXACTLY!!! TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF ME!! thank you! I'm glad someone else understands! Kurt would definitely not be pleased with the way his so called fans act. And I always stand up for courtney I love her!! He was very protective of her! Much love from st paul Minnesota, america!! ❤️
I just love all about this video and song, the guitar, the lyrics, her look, her voice. she' probably must be one of the top 5 women of rock of the 90s.
I absolutely love this song! I remember watching a story about her on VH1 and I heard her a few times saying that America's Sweetheart was a horrible album, but I disagree! I thought it was a great album and this song is so addictive!
Ella se llama Courtney Love. Se lanzó como solista, pero antes estaba en un grupo llamado Hole. Después de Hole estuvo en el grupo Bastard. Creo que escuché que el grupo Hole se va a reunir de nuevo.
